This novel is old too, was finished in 2019, I remember.

Yeah, she did have her struggles and enemies to her journey to wealth but she could solve it quickly, after all, she reached the position of senior executive in her past life in a top multinational company, so she is basically a workplace witch.

But novel had over 2358 chapters (including extra chapters), so the drama streamlined the events in the novel in a summary which feels like she is doing this or that so smoothly and quickly, but it wasn't like that in novel, even the first egg business part had many many chapters and plots.

Also, the ML was more of a tough guy and manly type and they were a power couple, not the boyish and sweet type in drama, so the story vibe comes off differently.

The original novel beginning was a bit different, FL became a senior executive by hard work and overcoming all obstacles and her new secretary in the company kept gossiping with other people about no matter how much successful she as an older woman is, if she is not married it means no one wants her etc. Then she time travelled into the body of another girl named Xiao Xiaolan in 1983, this time she decided to be a winner in life by taking advantage of economic reforms and avoid the detours of hard work in her past life only to reach the position of a senior executive, she decided to be her own boss, never compromise and also if possible find a like-minded partner.

Its basically a feel good story and being a winner in life after being reborn in another body in another time period, to fulfill all her regrets for past life.

What wedding death trap are you talking about?

Firstly, They didn't even exchange betrothal and dowry gifts yet, the decree was just given, both families were only starting to prepare the first gift exchange for the wedding; any formal procedures didn't even start.

Secondly, that banquet was for the reopening of the Prince Duan Manor as the princess house after Peiyi got the title and permission to live in her family house and that banquet invitation was sent in the name of consort Shufei; basically like a large scale housewarming banquet to announce that duan family is open again; it had nothing to do with her using the wedding news as trap.

Thirdly, I have already said it twice before I don't have a problem with ML stopping FL killing people irrationally; my only issue was the confrontational dialogues of ML at the end of the episode.

Fourth, Why I can excuse FL's side because given everything that happens its justified compared to the ML's side because the trauma, grief and pressure of family vengeance and living in this nightmare for 15 years is far greater than some romance or marriage at this point, so ML can only confront her and settle accounts about feelings later after everything is settled but not at this point when her whole world broke down; if the partner can't be there in desperate moments but in turn adds more issue then nothing to say.
And I would say the same in a reverse gender story, I am not biased towards gender but I am biased towards circumstances because the confrontation about how important the person or relationship compared to family massacre and revenge doesn't make sense and an qualified partner would not ask that male or female.

Anyways, I didn't ask anyone to agree to my views nor did I say I am a ML lover or FL lover who excuses everything he/ she does, my comment did not mean to incite any arguments, I just shared what I felt while watching and that's it. Everyone has their own opinions. You stick to yours and I to mine.

If I think from your context, that's even more weird, as ML knew exactly what kind of person she was, she would never rest easy without revenge and it was clear from their mutually testing each other at the beginning to her repeatedly risk her life to find information, also her conversation with ML's father and various things later; that's why ML even promised her that he would risk his life to find the truth and get justice; but now he can easily believe what she is saying considering all her persistence and efforts for revenge became a joke and she is literally losing her mind, so her words clearly doesn't make sense; so did the ML's personality collapse from a smart, observant and rational to someone who angrily confronts the FL at her most vulnerable time, how can he believe that after her revenge failed and became a joke, she would forget about the murders of her parents, master and happily become a bride!! that would be crazy.

Well, everyone has their perspective for things, you can stick to yours and I to mine, I never asked others to agree with me; for me that's what I felt watching the drama, everyone has different feelings. I just shared my side, but not to incite any arguments. I can see your viewpoint but I can't agree; however I do respect a thousand hamlet in thousand hearts.

Did you people forget how many things ML hid from FL too, at first the memories related to that incident that ML kept denying time and time and later many times he makes plans and does things without discussing the with the FL just like when he tried to catch that general who was injured in one eye alone without telling the FL and many more like this; when it comes to hiding things from each other they are both equal;

And I feel the same when its in reverse with a plot where FL tries to ask the ML forget about his revenge for his family and live a good life with her; I have never liked such self-righteous FLs.. stop making it sound like about gender.

And I already said I have no issue about his stopping killing that minister as she would be in danger if she just straight out killed the enemy like that without proving her family's innocence.

All I am saying is as a partner knowing the what the other person has been through, all that trauma, grief; he/she should stop questioning her about their relationship at a time like this, and support her to get through this, the person is already devasted after her 15 years of persistence became a joke, she is going crazy inside, and people expect her to think about romance and marriage at this point. Can't the conversation about settling accounts about their relationship be later, why do this at this critical moment when she has lost all hope and became crazy.

I didn't mind the ML for stopping FL from killing the right chancellor, as FL would have been in trouble and also couldn't clear her father's name of going mad and expose the truth.

My real issue with ML lies at the end of episode 29, his conversation with FL, I was so disappointed.

Xiao huajin at that moment felt to me like a man with an inflated ego who wanted to manipulate the FL into accepting a life he thought was the best for her, but actually selfish on his part like her persistence, trauma and grief of 15 years doesn't compare to some worldly marriage. It felt like the ML was gaslighting her, she wasn't in a good mental state to begin with and was going crazy inside due to the incompetent emperor's decision, then he just went on about stupid stuff about their marriage being even with the loss and murder of her parents, master and all innocent members of the Duan household; I was speechless.

What should have been the right thing to do would be to stay by the FL's side, plan again to get the right judgement from the emperor and say that " okay, we will only talk about marriage after we get justice for your family, but I am not leaving you alone in this mess" That would have been manly and right.

You are not alone in feeling this. For me, Kdrama has kinda changed, I think from like 2018 Kdrama lost that charm from me, I am not saying that the dramas are not good just that they became kinda more commercial flavor than the sentimental charm, from 2010 to 2016, kdramas were the type of modern dramas I could watch, later it didn't feel the same anymore; of course there are a few every now and then which are really good but that touching feeling is always missing. Recent two chinese dramas both MPI90 and LBL gives me that long lost feeling.

It gave me a cozy, comfortable and down to earth similar to real life people type romance till episode 23, then a bit dramatic but after the leads were back together in 2/3 episodes, from episode 26; it was fine again. Also, the game storyline is actually not much, I would have preferred they gave more time to game storyline than a little less of the serious stuff in the last arc.

I wish the ending episode had a wedding at the Shanghai lane house style Layman hotel that their workplace revolved around for the length of the drama and the wedding invitation showing the ML changing back to his dad's surname, that would have been meaningful. This drama really deserved a wedding scene. I also wanted to see the reactions of the employees of the design company after they get to know about the ML-FL relationship.

I loved the post credit reverse game scene of how the ML-FL first met.

All in all, it was a very nice watch for someone like me who has been resistant towards modern drama for a while but could actually sit down and enjoy LBL and MPI90's of CXX.

I actually wish for the game storyline to be a standalone drama with the leads, all republican dramas are basically toxic, a healthy and nice republic green flag drama would be nice to watch.

You're on point, and yes from the start it gave the vibe that ML treated her as an strong enemy who is on equal footing with him so her being the enemy commander outweighs the fact that she is a woman. I really like the tone it set in the drama.

Because this will definitely pave the way for having an equal power dynamic relationship in later episodes when they bond closer.

Yeah, I felt the same, its like LSF tone was a bit sulky bcz he was praising the ML.

I found that part utterly disgusting. Both his brothers are just good for nothing; only knowing to acting like a big shot and supress XQ all the time.
