They find it hard to believe a female character can do what a male character "should." Some complaints are reasonable, like she doesn't have battle experience, but she is simply just ridiculously strong and was trained her whole life by her father, a very skilled general. Sorryyyy she didn't get a 30 second training montage to prove her skill, the battles WERE her training.

Also she was trained by a notoriously, skilled general her entire life.

To those leaving comment section after finishing, It's been fun! I have NEVER been THIS invested in a show, where I'm in some comment section day after day. Changyu will be my ride or die character from now on. I'm on Netflix so I'm taking my time with this show, but glad we enjoyed the show together for the most part. Lol, the example you share is NIF, you said it yourself, that's in it's own category. But EVERY OTHER show, yeah, invincible.

He is a well-written, well acted character. There have been character's like him before, but none done as well. He definitely stands out.

I think that's the point... he is a puppet. I'm sure he wants to be emperor but he can't fight these two on his own, he isn't smart enough nor has any "real" backing.

People are always harsher on women, which is what surprised me so much, because I thought FL could potentially be an exception. Chang yu is such a great character! Some say she's a Mary Sue, then in the same breathe complain she's a bad general... make it make sense. Nobody bats an eye when the male lead kicks ass... Nobody bats an eye when he makes poor decisions that gets people killed... Didn't Xie Zheng let 200 of his own men to die to the flood in order to save Changning (ofc bigger cause but still)? FL loses Mandi and results in General Wei hurting his arm and damn she's worse than a foot soldier.

Yes, she made bad decisions but she isn't perfect.. She doesn't have battle experience, she is bound to make mistakes! So do you want a Mary Sue or not?! She also didn't ask to become a general, that was forced upon her by people in power as they hope to control her! Someone who is neither Wei nor Li. But she does deserve her accolades, she killed the big bad no? Don't question her ability to kick-ass, cause we've seen that from the first episode, she isn't the commoner people make her out to be.

Exactly how I feel! Instead of cutting earlier stuff, they should've added more episodes. It's because of how much time they spent on it that everything hit so much harder. It's the big reason I abosolutely adore this show. Not so much the writing but the scheduling! However, they should've prepared if they knew the time.

I agree! I think ep 14-15 would've been good spot. Yes, we deserve more of them together, I think we'll get that in this next arc, only happy days ahead lol

About seeing the Marquis kick ass, I would've absolutely loved to see that. He lowkey just aura farms, just being cool, but nothing truly bad-ass. I let it slide not seeing it though because it isn't his story as much as it is Changyu's, and being he is "supposedly" so bad-ass, the fight scenes would last 2 seconds. There probably think no need to waste scenes on it, it's not where his growth lies. But one cool scene off his horse in the war scenes would've been nice 😭😭😭 He did get that one in the forest, but it was so long ago I lowkey forgot.

Yeah she should've stood up for him at the table. But she was also drunk. When he called her prince consort, they were in public and trying to avoid him, keeping professional boundaries. There maybe she could've just told him to stop. But I'm not taking it too seriously, just enjoying it at a bit part to stir the pot. In reality, his behaviour is annoying and disrespectful, I wouldn't let my partner be insulted like that. T

Oh yeah that guy was riling him up for no reason. Did he not think that guy would fight back? No sense in that guys motivation. I think it was purely to reveal that thing about Wei Yan's true love or whatever that was.

I really wish they didn't make him have a crush on her. I wish he could've been a big brother to her the way she is a big sister to the others... I however, don't mind his behaviour cause they don't make it weighty at all. It leads to tropey jealous moments if anything, which I'll eat up any day regardless. They are just thugs, losers, so they act like it. If I were Marquis tho, I, like you, wouldn't let that sht slide. Buttttt he can't do anything to them because FL likes them.

I wished they showed that scene, and we see him struggle mentally, between his desire for revenge and his love for her. Would’ve been valuable. But I’m not too mad.

I enjoyed todays episode! Yeah, the vibe completely changed but I won’t complain as both parts were done well. The two brothers scene was great, the relationship we saw between them built up to this moment and it didn’t disappoint. Truly never seen any death as such. The relationship between Gongsun yin and the grand princess was more lowkey, but this moment didn’t feel like it came outta no where. I will say I was shocked to hear about him going to the temple too. A lot of background that I’m sure was expanded on in the novel, but I didn’t mind, it was romantic. It wasn’t a super stuffed episode like the ones on the weekend.

She was respectful but her food was burning. That was just for jokes sake.
