Yeah, its cause we know things as viewers they don't. You say you want her to see things from his perspective as well but HOW LOL, she literally can't! Even pei yan doesn't know the other perspective yet. Also just wait, you will defo root for them! It's so hard not too despite everyone that hated wei zhao lol

yeah it shouldn't take away from the main plot, but they could've added some depth to the scenes. If you don't have time to do that, then I feel don't do it at all. Its a topic that shouldn't be treated lightly. I agree, he should've suffered more! However, since they didn't do that, I wish ayan or a character could've mentioned he deserved a far worse ending, but they were all happy and moved on xd.

100%, it is getting better every episode. Just like Soryuu's comment above, you will have to bear with the male lead trying to kill her multiple times, even torturing her... However, she doesn't let it slide, and she is such a strong character despite everything. The female lead is my favourite part, and I know many people are picky on FLs typically. You would be crazy if you had a problem with this FL lol.

Yeah I also don't want to for too long, it just feels weird having such a heavy topic explored so poorly. It's not one I'd want as a 2 episode subplot, maybe at least 3 lol! I want their to be weight to the scenes. I also enjoy a good victory like most people, I enjoyed this one too despite my issues with not feeling it as much. Maybe just a couple lines talking about how it hurts, how they feel, why they have to stand up!

Yeah she doesn't need to help, I just want to agree with original comment, but she is a good person so she does. She doesn't throw herself in danger when interfering, the ML is just a monster so she unlucky. thats another way to look at it haha! She does become super comfortable around him, couldn't be me!!

Exactlyyy! I often find myself thinking that way to be fair though. Like Wei Zhao is trying to avenge his family and the people of his town, as a viewer I also want him to get his revenge! However, I can't blame Jiang Ci for getting in his way when he his intention is unknown. You're right, she didn't ask for anything of this!

Many female viewers are tougher on female leads in shows, me as well. It could be because they envision themselves as her, or like me, they want to the main character to be a good person that you don't mind following their journey. However, as much as they want to be her, they barely see her struggle.

I wish it could've been a bit longer. Like the build-up looking for victims, I wish she could've had a conversation at least with one of them talking about what he did to really let it sink in what a horrible man he was. After a conversation she could've then opposed to helping.
It would make the first woman speaking up to support even more powerful. Cause when she came out with a poster, I was like who are you.. She said "you?" as if I was supposed to be like aww she came!

Sexual assault, harassment of women, women's right and dignity, very important topics and I feel like it was brushed over. Like a filler episode, subplot. I wish they showed more of the trauma Ayan suffered from, the scars from all the other women, the behavior that scumbag around other women. I didn't like that he died, or that nobody said anything about his death, not a word. Like it was a clean ending to that subplot. Next thing you know Ayan is gone with the wind, completely recovered. Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate it, I just felt they could've done more. It was a tad bit shallow, didn't appreciate it.

I wanted to mention the trial scene in episode 18

I also agree with the person who mentioned double. Lots of romantic moments, they had such good chemistry, the FL is amazing (slightly OP, not as flawed) and they started stand-off ish.

just saying story of kunning palace, not much romance. They have a decent relationship in like friends, but romance and romantic stuff is not as common. I enjoyed the watch though and I don't finish many dramas xd

I wouldn't give AF about deeper things if you tried to kill me multiple times, torture included. Also, you are the viewer, its easy for you to see easy things. How on earth is she supposed to peel back all the layers that we as audience don't even fully understand. It's not her ignorance, it's the fact that she just can't know. Wei Zhao hasn't told her, Pei Yan himself doesn't even know, so how is she?!?! How is she supposed to know about Yuelou when she lived her life frolicking in the fields. She honestly doesn't need to interfere that's true, but if I had the opportunity to screw over someone who hurt me, I would.

ALSO you just WAIT and see the outcome and what Wei Zhao does after jiang ci says in front of him she knows teng rui is alive. If when THAT scene comes, you say she gets what she deserves, this is a lost cause me talking haha.

Future episodes you will start to like her. I'm surprised there are people that don't like her early on, but I'm sure you will like her after episode 10/11.

Pei yan was making me uncomfortable last two episodes (honestly prior to as well) but that is just a testament to what a good actor Jeremy Tsui is. Like he has this hopeless love or obsession with Jiang Ci, he wants to hold on to her so badly (or at least not give her to Wei Zhao) but also doesn't want her to despise him. However, sometimes the desire for the former is a lot stronger and he is making her hate him. You can hear it in his voice and see in his eyes. The delivery of his lines in the scene in episode 17 around 25 minutes, amazing. Especially that one line after she says I will always remember your kindness.. wow. I can see why he is such a highly regarded actor.

Tian Xi Wei and Landy Li are amazing actresses and have played some of my favourite FLs. I loved TXW in New Life Begins, she gets unnessary hate from people that don't understand complex women. Landy in Nirvana of Love is up there with some of the greatest FLs I have ever seen. What a real character, not a pushover, not a damsel in distress, but also not opposed to relationships (with ML and other characters as well)

I had one question though about stuff we learn in new episode. If ayan is a descendant of Zhao Wu, is she his daughter? If she is, then did he change his name cause they called him something else in court. He probably did... but since she didn't know all the stuff he was telling her, do you think that would mean she either knows about the prince qi situation or doesn't...

Can someone explain to me the plot and stuff. Like I get most of it but there are details that I feel like I'm missing on to fully understand the whole situation. I'm talking about the Prince Qi situation.. like I know he disappeared/died and had the Yan sisters who were maid assassins who were responsible. They supposedly went through the town ML used to live it, contributed to it's destruction.

I'm confused still, like what are the attachments with this eunuch that the king first heard about in a letter a while back, why did he go to Pei Yan's mom to talk about it, and yet leave without even speaking about it. Who are these mystery kids that lived in nanling and why does it matter. They keep saying he had a wife and kids!! WHO?!? WHY SHOULD I CARE! Someone just explain the whole situation I beg.

I'm curious about what other FL's you've seen this year that'd you loved!

I actually can't express enough how much I love Jiang Ci and the her actress Landy Li. She's such a real character, not a fake FL there as simply a love interest. Like although she will fall in love with ML (couldn't be me), she stands up to him when he or anyone hurts her. When she was in prison being TORTURED, she did the sign he told her and threatened him, while her life was in his hands. Her face, her delivery during that scene, PERFECT! Gave me chills. There are other FLs in dramas where they will stand up to the ML but will have no reason for ML not to kill them except for the fact he lowkey loves her (which they don't know at the time, meaning poor writing). Not our girl, she was prepared!

She has such a good heart and wants to fight for people, but she isn't stupid with it. She puts herself in dangerous situations because of her good heart but she uses her brain to get out of the situation. Like in episode 14 she used his token, left a clue for him, was avoiding that one guys hits... that's all you need to do, but most FL's can't do that. You know those FL leads that want to do good but just get in the way of ML/other characters and need to be saved... yeah not our girl. She eventually gets saved but she isn't a damsel in distress.

She also has personality! She jokes with the leads, side characters, not every interaction is lovey-dovey. She isn't constantly hating or like being awkward with the leads, she's a REAL PERSON. Her lil fake sob story in episode 13 was so funny, came out of nowhere. When she went to put medicine on ML in episode 14, she was teasing him and being conversational.

I JUST LOVE HER, I REALLY DO. I am desperate to see more of her!
