Definitely a catalyst for the twists, turns and shocking revelations.

The boy was BORN with Chisu energy. He's privileged, lazy and lucky. Like a lot of modern day K-drama chaebols. Fortunately, for him, he's also "genius" level intelligence. We are glad for his rapid progress (20 episodes - a lot to squeeze in) since Papa Jang closed his energy gate. But he did not EARN this - it was a gift from the heavens/sky.

I'm still waiting for the "sisterly" conversation between Mu-deok and Cho-yeon regarding CY's broken engagement to Jang Uk. I think it is the ONLY scene remaining from the 6 minute preview trailer that we have not yet seen. [The other remaining scene was today[Ep 14] - Park Jin's sword up against Mu-deok's throat].

There is zero doubt in my mind that he will be key in saving Mu-deok from at least one more peril. He absorbed ice stone "poison" in order to heal her - so now, Seo Yul, Jang Uk and Mu-deok (JBY) all have ice stone "poison" (or, Is It Really Poison???) in their bodies.

Do you mean So-i recognized MD? Regardless, she already knows that MD is in town and can "out her" so to speak. I imagine the two guards at Chwiseonru are as much as dead. I'm trying to remember - did Ju Wol ever see So-i or merely hear about her. I 💕Ju Wol because the actress was a great character in Shooting Stars - and she must have been filming around the same time as AoS!

LOL, but Seo Yul is the heir to THE most prestigious mage family in Daeho. His Aunt married into Daeho Royalty. Master Heo's family is "collateral", whatever that menas - probably 2nd or 3rd cousins.

Jin Mu's speech to the mages supposedly outlined his plan, but I'm still trying to understand it. It seems to be along the lines of:

(i) mages are valuable and therefor elite. We deserve to live forever
(ii) when our power grows strong enough, everyone will realize that we are right and it is inevitable.

He keeps talking about showing "the world" that they possess the ice stone at which point they expect all Daeho residents to simply bow down and donate their souls to the elite??

That's what I get out of it. Shaman Choi seems to be driven to destroy Songrim and control Daeho all by herself.

He's getting ready to unleash chaos on Daeho because he doesn't have a clue what spell to cast in order to save Mu-Deok. However, I think Master Lee might once again give a hint, as in: My friend, Mu-deok is in no danger of petrification; I already tried - she's good. 😊😊

That's definitely where the writers are leading us - but I don't trust them not to pull a fast one on us with a different explanation. And if it means we will never see Jin Bu-yeon for a couple of episodes portrayed by Jung So Min I will be royally pissed.

Every time they post still cuts, they also post a vague explanation of the scenes, but lately there has been a "production team" comment at the end. So, here a vague - but meaningful - preview of what's to come re: Mu-Deok:

The production team of 'Alchemy of Souls' said, "Mu-deok is involved in a murder case. Starting with the murder case, there will be a big development where Mu-deok's past secrets will be revealed one by one before her soul shifting, so please look forward to it."

Note: this is before the soul-shift! I'm excited because what this really means is we will [supposedly] finally find out more about Jin Bu-yeon after Jin Mu pushed her out of the boat.

I have no idea on Papa Jin, but I'm leaning towards the "not a soul-shifter" based on the way he looked when he saw JBY's image last week, he clearly resents her (it actually looked like hate). Perhaps because, as you say, his wife has essentially gone crazy over her (witness how she acted today) and hasn't treated the other daughter well.

I fast-forwarded thru the scene with Jin Mu and fake Bu-yeon.

I'm excited - it will be a game-changer.

If and when Jang Kang returns, we will find out much more about Cho Choong and his daughter Cho Yeong/"Naksu". And anyone who doesn't realize that it's another obstacle for Mu-deok and jang Uk have been fast forwarding some revealing scenes.

Alchemy of Souls is first and foremost a series about mixed motives, destiny, ethics and consequences. Very few "perfect" characters. I'm looking forward to the day Naksu realizes that Jin Bu-yeon has been keeping her alive this whole time - starting with stopping her suicide attempt. 😊😊😊😊

I actually got a brother/sister vibe yesterday (Ep. 13). Like they were squabbling - it's your fault! you're wrong! How did he hook up with Shaman Choi to begin with? In the same episode (weekend?) we discover she has a sibling in jinyowon, voila! Papa Jin is shown to be evil and the viewer thinks - that must be the sibling (either a real sibling or soul-shifter). He's evil - but that hint seemed a bit too obvious.

I'm not sure if I am analyzing this correctly. The different mage levels are based on the ability to "control" energy - water, body/earth(?), atmosphere. But I think one also needs to learn spells - and the higher the level of energy, the more complex the spell. Jang Uk (and probably Jin Bu-yeon) were BORN with this energy and that why he advanced so quickly - but this has also made him very sure of himself and over-confident. We'll see if he feels humbled by the loss.

Jang Uk thinks finding the ice stone is the only thing he needs to do to "cure" Mu-Deok . This is why Master Lee, Park Jin and Yul are concerned about him (and Yul doesn't even know about the King's Star!) - his love for Mu-Deok could unleash chaos on Daeho, and Master Lee is willing to stop him if necessary.

As for 'Naksu", she's been losing her Naksu-ness ever since she jumped in the lake (except for that little poisoning incident). Her past is finally catching up with her. Including the fact that Jang Uk's father was apparently somehow involved in her father's death.

Why go on attack mode? Why make this personal?

All humans have energy. 😊 Plus, Bu-yeon has plenty of energy to loan.
