Hyo Shimβs suggestion to postpone the wedding upsets Tae-ho, and the two end up fighting.
After reuniting with Chu-ryeon, Sun-soon gets tired of crying and eventually collapses. Sun-soon warns Hyo-sung and Hyo-shim not to think about giving them a liver transplant.
Tae-ho asks Tae-min to postpone his promotion to general manager. [No. No, no, no - Tae Min needs to be able to fly away and live his own life for a few months. Don't be selfish Tae Ho - you got the girl, stop with the pity party]
Each member of the family tries to protect the family in their own way, and on the day of Hyo-jun's bar exam, Chu-ryeon's surgery begins.
The audacity of some people in life is truly atrocious. Hyosung's music teacher and the dad intentionally ran…
"I hate with every part of my fiber how the writer made HS lose all ability to communicate and turn her into the stereotypical kdrama FL "
Which is why I have never liked the character of Hyo Shim. I do blame the writer - and it may be required in order to create new "tension" but just one more reason not to ever watch a 50 episode drama again.
Loved the prison scene, but I didn't understand the part about "coloring her hair roots" - like Jang gets special privileges or something?
If you think about it TH came back to korea to discover what teally happened to his parents and investigate theid…
Pachecopc - I will try to say this gently - you are incorrect. Tae Ho returned to the US to locate his grandmother. He didn't begin to concern himself with the accident until after Tae Min married Su-kyung and TH saw the TVLive coverage of the accident. That's when TH became suspicious.
Meanwhile, well before that, Tae Min was already doing his own investigation to find out what really happened. He located the detective who was originally on the case and then he engaged a former FBI agent to try and locate Director Park in the United States.
From the official Kocowa recaps: "Tae Min looks into the death of [his] uncle and sees if [his] father Jin Beom is involved. Some secrets start to surface but are not clear enough for Tae Min to make accurate accusations. Then, Tae Ho catches Tae Min watching a video clip that conveys a message raising the question of Tae Hoβs parentsβ death."
Moving forward, BEFORE Granny told Tae Min about his bio-parents, he begged her to tell him what she knew about the accident and asked her what evidence she had - she refused to give it to him. Later on, Granny visits Jin Bum, tells him to take the blame (to protect the now brothers), he does so and when TM hears what Jin Bum remembers that night, he realizes that Jin Bum wasn't the culprit that caused the accident, so he returns to Granny and demands some answers/the evidence.
However, after watching Episode 48, writer made it clear that the promotions of Hyo Seung and Tae Ho are for helping on a "grave company matter" - presumably the financial malfeasance (embezzlement, bribery, etc) of Dragon Mom, Yeom and Jin Bum.
Preview for Episode 47 (from KBS website):* Filial piety meets Chu Ryun in the hospital room and reveals it to…
Here are my crazy predictions for the last 4 episodes:
1. Yeom dies of cancer; Tae Hee visits him at least once 2. Father Lee needs a liver transplant (which either relies on someone to die OR a partial liver transplant from one of the kids). All of the kids refuse to donate. ππ Sigh, that was a joke - of course one of them will do it. Kumbaya. 3. Granny orders Tae Min to be chairman and he says no, not now. Flies out of town. 4. Dragon Mom ends up surrounded by guards - in a psychiatric hospital. [This has been my prediction since. . . oh, about Episode 4 β Iβm not giving up on it, until proven wrong. ] 5. Kang Jin Bum is sentenced to 1 year in prison (just like Kang Tae Min served 1 year for his un-mother) and in a truly heart-warming homage to ep. 2, Tae Min is there to welcome him home at the end of his prison term. 6. Dragon Mom will give her shares of Taesan stock to Tae Hee (perhaps conditioned that she doesnβt return to Hyo Do??)
As for the other characters - their happy endings are predictable and I don't care about any of them. ππ
* Filial piety meets Chu Ryun in the hospital room and reveals it to her father, who does not recognize her. * Hyo-sung meets Mi-hee, an old music teacher, and learns how her father left the family.[Looking forward to these scenes] * Tae-ho takes Sun-soon to a Chinese restaurant and has a meeting with Myung-hee. * Tae-ho and Hyo-sung are promoted for revealing the truth about the past incident. [What the F**K??? Although Hyo-sung was instrumental in collecting a couple of clues (at TAE MINβs instructions, of course], Tae Ho did nothing to reveal the truth about the Daegwallyeong Pass incident. Maybe this refers to revealing Dragon Momβs nefarious financial shenanigans β then it would mean something] * Meanwhile, Hyo-sim once again runs into Mi-hee at the hospital where she went to see Chu-ryeon.
My crazy predictions below - some are old (and I still think they are probable) and some are new.
If you watched until Episode 13, then you will know that there are two primary stories - and the writer did a…
I am Tae Min's #1 fan on this forum - I was intrigued by his character from the very beginning, although I hated every scene with Hyo Shim. I think the writer intentionally hinted that Tae Min might be "evil" - but it was because of his actions, not anything he said - so the viewer could easily jump to conclusions about his MOTIVES.
So, take this as my personal view, there are THREE leads in this drama (Hyo Shim, Tae Ho and Tae Min). Tae Ho is the clear "romantic" lead, He is very loving towards Hyo Shim but frequently hatefui towards Tae Min and the rest of the family which led to some of the best cliff-hangers in the whole show. Bloomingtide calls him "golden retriever" - I guess because he is very playful and loving.
Tae Min is the LEADER lead in the show. He is very reserved and doesn't jump to conclusions. He searches for truth and solves problems. He carries many, many burdens. If I were to assign him to a canine breed, it would be a German Shephard - devoted and protective of his family and Taesan Group, affectionate but not bouncy like a Golden Retriever.
In short - he's not evil. I hope this wasn't too spoilerish. π
I finally finished. I'll probably give it a 7.5 or 8β because if nothing else, I DID finish (whereas I still haven't returned to Knight Flower, Matchmakers or Queen of Divorce, just to name a few recent dramas).
Sung Ha Yoon (So-min) absolutely stole the show - I cannot believe that this is the same actress as the FL in "Oh Youngshim".
I have a question for those who paid attention to details. Perhaps my break from the drama is the problem, but what is the significance of the cherry blossoms? I especially didn't understand why they appeared in the last episode with Yoo-ra's secretary. I suppose the answer is spoilerish for those who have not yet finished. Thank you in advance.
I have watched up until episode 13 when it first aired, and then I put it on my 'on-hold' list (which is what…
If you watched until Episode 13, then you will know that there are two primary stories - and the writer did a good job of stringing them out over 51 episodes (well, 47 thus far) with interesting twists and several makjang surprises. Those stories are:
1. Hyo-Shim, her family of dependents and her desire for an independent life.
2, The mystery of what happened at Daegwallyeong Pass.
If you like weekenders because of the main couple's story, then you will enjoy LYOL because they never go through a break-up (an anomaly in most kdrama romances). The romance is a significant part of Hyo Shim gaining independence.
However, my favorite part was the mystery and I believe it is unusual for a weekender to also include a mystery as one of 2 main stories. It was my favorite part because otherwise 100% of the drama would have been focused on Hyo-shim's miserable family. instead, the question of what happened at the Pass was an underlying theme that impacted many characters and their stories, although primarily Tae Ho and Tae Min. It provided most of the makjang moments - and there were several. It's the only reason I kept watching.
So whether it is worth it depends on what you enjoy. I FF'd through almost all scenes involving Hyo Shim's mother - and there were ALOT of those (perhaps 20% of screen time). π
Not only is my very favorite Yoo In Soo in this drama,, but my 2nd favorite Seo Ji Hoon also appears in a guest (unfortunately ghostπ₯π₯π₯) role.
like his ensemble with the brown coat and 2 sugar pops (? is that what it is called?)
That photo was from the time he visited the TS Fitness outdoor camp. One of my least favorite episodes. I thought it was "cotton candy", but I'm not sure what it is in Korea.
Looks like another generic fantasy-romance... no high expectations, but might be nice time killer, depending on…
"Generic". Well, yeah, maybe, kinda, sorta . . . .but Yoo In Soo. YOO IN SOO! It's a Must Watch for me even tho I know there will be heart break at the end. π
Yoo In Soo cut, curtesy of ENA. Be still my heart. ππππ
On my watchlist because of Seo Ji Hoon - one of my very, very favorites. But it was produced/funded independently w/the hope of finding an OTT. I know there is a way of asking Viki to take some of these independent dramas - that may the only way we will get subs. ππ
I think Kang Tae Min will be on an airplane soon. π
Go Joo Won's agency posted several photos on the instagram with the note "It ain't over until it's over!" Most are from old episodes, but two of them are brand new and they appear to be an airport scene. Plus, TM is wearing a blue shirt (a first?) and patterned tie (another first?). Check out #3 and #8 photos.
Def wasn't expecting Jung Kyung Ho's cameo. Was silently screaming inside my head for that brief moment he showed…
I didn't recognize him in the show, but I was just now scrolling through the MDL credits and when I saw his photo I thought - I've seen him before. What a great cameo!
He doesn't use family's money. It was said in ep 2(?) that he was successful as an artist as soon as he got to…
Thanks for the clarification. I've been confused by the different siblings and how they fit into the family hierarchy. We WATCHED Ji Han's professional performance but know literally nothing about Do Han except that he's gay, apparently has a boyfriend and he likes to paint. And he doesn't want to run the corporation.
So funny lee do hyun is the realest person who doesnβt care about his family wealth or inheritance so am suprised…
I always find it amusing that when someone makes a comment about a FICTIONAL character (as you did), the knives come out because some viewers take it as a personal insult. I don't understand that - well, actually I do - but I'm always surprised when they think it's okay to attack a REAL person to defend a FICTIONAL character. You defended yourself well. π
