What she says and what she does (actions/non-action) are diametrically opposed. She's been that way from the beginning - defending him to her family but rarely when he was there.

It's a "cliche" about destiny ("was he born to love me?"). Hyun Woo was born to love her and protect her - call it fate, God, aliens, whatever but that is their story, as has been shown over and over again.

Well, she did get married and have a couple of babies (twins!). Perhaps she is trying to ease back into a reasonable schedule for her current life. 😊

Alright, Alex Stefan, you piqued my curiosity. I located the trailer to refresh my memory - the unofficial quote I provided (which was kinda close, lol) was said over several different scenes in various outfits, so I don't know if we can predict. But. . .

The full quotation is: Hae-in: 'Being together won't make us happier". Hyun-woo: "But we won't be as miserable."
And then (and this might occur at the same time or not) Hyun-woo "We can work together to be in less despair."

So, I choose to believe it bolsters my original point about the writer's intentions: communicating is a start, but a successful marriage takes WORK and EFFORT. And from my experience - lots and lots of compromise. 😊

As a side note, I enjoy your posts and comments because you enjoy analyzing the drama, not just the characters. Tomorrow should be fun.

Really? I don't recall those outfits in the preview. They have a 'month' to change their minds on the divorce and staying 'together' puts her in danger, do I've figured their reconciliation will take a couple of episodes at least. Regardless, I enjoy watching whatever happens.

I do hope they are going to be teaming up to spy on Eun Seong and his mother. 😊

“If they would just communicate!” That’s been the mantra by most viewers and I remained out of the discussion for the most part because that wasn’t the drama that I was watching.

Actually, i think the whole point of Queen of Tears is that they weren't communicating even when they fell in love and got married. They had different expectations about the marriage. It has been front and center ever since the Epilogue in Episode 1 where they both talked to the video camera about what they envisioned in ten years. From. The. Beginning.

I honestly feel this is what the writer is trying to convey – when a marriage is in crisis, it’s not enough to “communicate” properly. It may lead to greater understanding, but it can also lead to a realization that the marriage may be doomed if they have different expectations, hopes, dreams, goals. That’s where BaekHong is right now.

Writer-nim up-ended the classic kdrama ending - where the couple finally overcomes all obstacles (the awful grandparent, the evil corporation, the evil whatever. . .), have a gorgeous wedding and live happily ever after. For the first 8 episodes, we saw Hyun Woo forced to live in her world. Now Hae-in will live in his world. Thus will begin the real understanding and communication between the two. Plus some great counter-attack/defend/final battle between the good guys and villains.

There's a line in the 3.5 minute teaser that is something like: 'Staying together might not make us happier, but we won't be as miserable." That's kind of THE lesson for ALL marriages that manage to stay together through the ups and downs.

The viewer isn't sure when they actually began to "date". in the first 8 episodes, most of the flashbacks/epilogues were about their courtship up to the point of his proposal. However, this much is certain:

2018 (Christmas) They first meet.
2019 - Spring: Hyun Woo takes Hae-in to Youngdu-ri for the first time where he learns that she has never eaten an ice pop.
Eventually, she visits Youndu-ri on her own and rather than driving home, she stays overnight.
They go on additional dates - the subway, to a restaurant, movie theater and then the aquarium at which time he proposes -
At some point, he discovers who she is, resigns from the company and ghosts her.
2020 - Spring: Hae-in helicopters into Youngdu-ri and proposes to him. They are married within a few weeks.

The next few episodes will probably have flashbacks by Hae-in as she informs her family of her plans to marry, how and why he discovered her real identity, her decision to track him down and then planning for the wedding.

That's the whole point of the Ep. 8 Epilogue - Hae-in had an epiphany and she realized that she wanted to be by Hyun Woo's side ( instead of always expecting Hyun Woo to keep his promise to be by her side).

That was her pivot point.

I wouldn't have started this drama if I didn't believe 100% that there would be a happy ending for just about everyone and punishment for the villains.

The FL and ML are FICTIONAL characters. The people posting on this forum ('y'all') are not.

In Ep. 6, when Da Hye was concerned about what would happen with the family, Grace told her to "Just take your share and leave." So, that was always part of the plan - that she would play a part and get paid and return to the US.

I think perhaps she's an actress (she didn't want her photo taken for social media). Grace told her to "stay professional" and Da Hye felt insulted.

Also, I think she's Eun Seong's sister - she was far more casual in her interchange with him and referred to him as Eun Seong (not Mr. Yoon0 than someone who knew him for a few years at the orphanage.

Genre? my term would be 'Roller Coaster' - thrilling ride of mega-romance, humor and mystery with steep slopes, plummeting valleys and whiplashing twists and turns .

Very fun video. Perhaps I am wrong, but I think tvN and Netflix are promoting this much more than some prior Sat/Sun dramas. For instance, TWO pre-releases every week. but perhaps my view is because this the first drama in almost 2 years ago (since Alchemy of Souls) that I paid much attention. 😊

For what it is worth, I think his mother will turn out to be ill at some point. Last episode she took a nap and daughter said that it was unusual. But I have no idea what is happening in the preview.

EXCEPT, I need to write up a current calendar but from my review, Hae-in was given her diagnosis on June 1, 2023 (based on the date on the Divorce Agreement document) and the drama is now in the late "July" time-frame. So .. . . . ????could be related to Hae-in.

Episode 9 pre-release w/English DUB (not sub) - absolutely hilarious with the two families sitting down to eat together in Youngdu-ri. When I first watched (without trying to translate the Korean subs), I thought - oh Father Hong. . . . you are so understanding. 🥰 And, he indeed was TRYING to be find be . . . considerate. 🤣🤣🤣

Next 2 episodes (my prediction) are going to be a mash-up of non-stop comedy (Youngdu-ri), revelations of the evil Moh Seul Hee and mayyyyyy. . . . .beeee some glimmers of romance. Enjoy.

He may have killed the dog, but he left Korea in 2001 so wasn't around for most of the others. It is, of course, possible that he killed his adoptive parents but we found out that his mother was in New York City around that time (+/- 1-2 years???). I think we are going to find out most of the answers in Episodes 9 and 10 which I why I posted this for everyone's reference.

Moh Seul-hee's birth name was "Oh Sun Yeong" and there is a death certificate dated October 18, 1993 for her (which means there WAS a body).

We don't know whose body it was (but would anyone be surprised if it was the original Moh Seul-hee???)

And yes, we have been told that Moh Sel-hee became the Chairman's mistress "30" years ago).

The young boy Eun Seong was accused of poisoning a dog in 2000 - just a few days after the Chairman, his grandchildren and the Mistress visited the orphanage (and thus a few days after the dog chased the young Hae-in).

How many people have died or been poisoned in Moh Sul Hee’s “orbit”?
1. 1993 – a woman identified as “Oh Sun Yeong “died” in October
2. 1998 – Hong So Wan (Hae-in's older brother) died in a mysterious boat accident
3. 2000 - The dog was poisoned
4. 2003 – Grandmother Yang Mi-suk died
5. 2013 – Evergreen Hope Orphanage burned and the Director died too.
6. Unknown (but possibly 2017?): Eun Seong’s adoptive parents died in a car accident
7. 2021 (?) - Hyun Woo/Hae-in lost their baby
8. 2023 (July?) – Grandfather Hong Man Dae is poisoned and expected to die in 2-3 months.

This woman is like a magnet for death! I’m beginning to wonder if the young boy Eun Seong actually poisoned that dog – or did someone provide him with the poison? She was in New York City six (6) years ago – about the time that Eun Seong may have been finishing up at the University and when his parents died?
