Honestly I really don't like the lead girl. All she does is whine and acts sometimes like a spoiled brat. But truth is she was forced to marry that psycho king and besides him and his people killed all her family and ruined her kingdom. Her position is really torturing and she's quite pitiful. I like that the King is ruthless because all around him are no better anyways. He wants to rule an empire and goes to war for this which is nothing out of the ordinary when you really think about it. The plot is so strong and characters complex. That's why I always prefer it when they do a drama based off a novel, the story is always stronger because it was matured and well thought of.

I still haven't fully recovered from this drama and begin to think I will never. It has really made it hard for me in dramaland because this show leveled up my expectations and so few fictions reach its level. I find dramas that are fine, cute, touching or funny but rarely as satisfying. Now I skip, drop, binge watch like there's no tomorrow because I know I don't have to put up with bs I don't like since it's possible to have smth smart that I really like...just that it's very few of them like this. :(((

Yes it's still early. Hope you're right. So far she has remained righteous...in the sense that she acknowledges the wrong around the King too instead of just blaming him for the sake of blaming him like her stupid Jing Ke..it's her only good point in my eyes. But I really hope she'll show some brain and power later. I'm not in for concubine cat fight in the harem and damsel in distress. lol

Oh yes. Ying Zheng's character is very interesting. I love to hate and love a villain at the same time..it almost never happens to me ! Valid reasons to hate him, valid reasons to love and understand him. Perfectly written character. Sadly can't say the same about her.
I skip all her scenes with Jing Ke and her scenes alone, she's as dull as he is IMO.
Plot is similar to Empress Ki. I have a hard time shipping these forceful lover kings... Lets see if I warm up…
So I started watching it. I take back my comment. Love line is similar to Empress Ki but characters are so different. It's just the beginning but I already like that the King is smart and ruthless. Might not like him later but at least I get where he comes from. He he he.

Yep. It's actually the reason I stopped watching.Though I love this OTP, the down toning of cheating is not my cup of tea. I also don't believe you consistently cheat on s.o. you love or care about. It was very disappointing to have lead romance based off and growing from betrayal. But hey...as you said...lakorns have a "special" outlook on male cheating...lol...if it's the woman it's a 180 in how it is addressed.

#4...I do get discourage by the number of episodes. One reason I like dramas is because they're shorter than soaps.
I dropped it long ago because you could sense early on that it was gonna be messy and disappointing. But I still came here just to read how bad it is LOL and also those who get mad because they think it was not that bad. So funny. ah ah ah
I know lakorn is very dramatic but really...sometimes it's too much...if not rape or hysterical woman then it's killing people and no punishment even the killer is passed as pitiful victim. Really hard to bear.
Just started this and I'm annoyed with the girl. I really don't mind kind heroines but she's annoying. First, love bug bit them too early...come on now...first episode and she already stares at him in awe like he's the most amazing thing after Buddha. Would have liked slower romance build up and more focus on gang.
The father seemed so kind-hearted. How did he marry such a vicious snake?
On another note...this show should have been called "Kidnapping". lol
Update: I had to drop this lakorn. Leads look awesome together but same craziness over and over and over again, plus the psycho mom everyone would just placate, and general high stupidity syndrome defeated me.
I rated this 1/10 and dropped it. LOL I was knew to lakorns at the time. But I still think this one is sick, sick and sick again. Guy is not redeemable and girl had probably lost her sanity already ah ah ah .
