On paper this drama had everything I usually like but somehow I just couldn't get into it :( I ended up partly fast-forwarding to get through it. Now I have forgotten pretty much everything about it, and I keep seeing some promising clips online and thinking if I should watch it again :D
People are praising the OST, but there's different music on YouTube. Has someone watched this somewhere else where there's the original music and good video quality? I'm okay to pay for subscription if necessary.
A thought that came to my mind: Maybe the reason someone from the production team leaked the last episodes was because they knew censors were after the steamy scenes and they were in danger to be cut - as happened to that one scene. Many cdramas have been butchered even more badly and we never got to see the scenes that were cut from them. So maybe someone didn't want all those scenes to go to waste and they leaked them so that people would see and download and distributed them even if they ended up being cut from the official episodes.
See dear If you’re watching The Best Thing mainly for Zhang Linghe and the high rating, I’d say it leans more…
Thank you! It might then be that this is not my kind of drama. I do also like some slower daily life dramas if they are written well, but they are more often a miss for me.
I want to watch this because of Zhang Linghe and the high score, but I'm afraid this falls into certain category of that I just find really boring. Looking at the recommendation section there are many dramas that I dropped: Amidst a Snowstorm of Love, Love Me Love My Voice, The Oath of Love and Sunshine of My Life. However there are also some dramas that I liked, for example Love Is Sweet, Princess Royal, Will Love in Spring and Shine On Me. Which of these groups do you think this one fits more?
So many negative comments here so I'm going to throw in a positive one: I really liked this drama. It kept my interest all the way through. The characters are more complex and grey than in some popular dramas. I understand this might not work for example for young audience who like their FL bubbly and friendly, always doing the right thing and not knowing much about dark side of humanity. I personally enjoyed The Princess Royal and thought the characters were well written and logical. I also read some parts of the original novel and it made me understand their actions even better.
Can anyone help me understand behind su rongqing predicament like he had his second chance at making different…
It's been a while but here's how I remember & understood it: Rongqing didn't really think he was getting a fresh start, nor did see the error of his ways in the previous life. He believed he did the right thing because he felt like putting his family before everything was most important, as it was often during those days. You know how the bad guys often plot to ensure the future of their family/clan/name, one person's mistake will get the whole family killed etc. So he thought it was the right thing to kill FL, but at the same time because he (sort of) loved her he felt guilty and knew he did not deserve to be with her. That's why he rejected her knowing that he would do it again. He only saw one way: doing everything for his brother and his family.
this show is a mess... so many things could have been solved if they just open their mouth to communicate??? and…
The story is true to their characters. If you read the novel it's more obvious, why it's so hard for them to be open and honest. Both because of their traumas and how life was in the court with all the plotting, I mean what happened in the first life really just proved that most people cannot be trusted. Also she liked being in control, she grabbed the "power" as a baby for her destiny. Not everybody has to be one of those people who just want a simple and peaceful life, even if it's the most common type of ending these days. I found it refreshing that the FL was not a naive girl looking for simple life.
Thank you Pursuit of Jade! After watching more than 200 Asian dramas it's getting more and more difficult to find something I can truly enjoy from beginning to end. Are there parts that could have been better? Of course there are. But watching these 40 eps I never once felt the urge to fast forward or put this on hold. I was genuinely excited to start watching every time and enjoying every episode.
