I agree, he looks better without the bangs, but it's not so much about looking good or bad but just not looking like the character :/ For some another role I think his looks would be fine. For Yu Mo I would like to see someone younger with round face and big eyes or something like that.

Well in this context I would call it that, and that's why I did :) But otherwise pretty much all the stuff from the novel is in the drama too, and it's more that the drama has added more stuff and subplots. The best parts of the drama are straight from the novel and the extra stuff feels sometimes boring or irrelevant, but the drama is still great and so is the book. I recommend both :)

Sorry, I thought you had read the novel and asked about the drama :) The gay plot in the novel was that when Bai Qian was studying at Kunlun mountain and made to look like a man by magic, the prince of the Demon realm Li Jing falls in love with her. In the novel he thinks Bai Qian is a man and struggles not wanting to be gay, and when he chooses Xuan Nu instead it's because he wants to be with a woman and not gay. However in the drama they changed it so that Li Jing find out Bai Qians true gender right away and the block on their way is that he thinks Bai Qian is from Heavenly tribe and members of Heaven and Demon tribes can't be together.
I would like to ask or inquire how much of this live action tv show follows or adapts the novel, were there any…
I think it was mostly faithful, but they changed (like the gay plot) and especially added some stuff. The biggest change maybe was the timeline: The original novel tells the main story and has back flashes about what has happened before. The drama tells everything in order and the main plot starts after the half point of the drama. This is the dramas greatest weakness too, as at least I felt that until that everything is just more boring, and when the main plot of the novel starts it just becomes this amazing drama that it is. I recommend both novel and the drama for you, but because of what I just said, even if you feel bored at first, don't give up! It does get super good later.
I'm on ep 18 and thinking about dropping this. All they do is solve some crimes/mysteries, is there going to be more relationship stuff later? How soon?
I don't remember the movie so well, but in the drama and in the novel he didn't specifically break up with her,…
I remember the movie poorly, but in the drama and in the novel Mosheng didn't know anything about leaving for US when she went to meet Yichen. She went there to confirm whether Yichen wanted to be with her or with his "sister", and as he said those words she assumed he wanted to date Yimei instead. I agree that if we look for a person to blame, it was Yichen. Mosheng was definitely innocent and she didn't want to leave the country, nor did she know she wouldn't be able to come back soon. Yichen, however, did not know this. And actually Yichen too blamed himself even more than he blamed Mosheng, this is more clear in the novel, but that's something that happens a lot with people: blaming themselves is so devastating that they start to look for ways to blame other people instead for their own mistakes. Sort of misplaced anger.
