To those who just start watching this drama, you can just ignore the modern scene. It's just C-drama very unique way of disclaimer to tell their viewers that this is just a fiction. It's to remind viewers that there's no reincarnation, no rebirth.
But I find it's very funny that they dont do this with xianxia drama, where there's a lot of death and reborn, tribulation, wake up as God/Goddess and such.

TTJ in the drama does not come off as scary. I know he's different in the novel. But TTJ in the drama is more pitiful than scary.

I am not sure on the sx assault part because I never read the novel and I only saw that in flashback and saw some comments here stating that. Maybe it will reveal more in future episodes.

No, dont get me wrong. I like her being bad-a$$ like this. She’s smart, and she knew what she wants. She plan out her life well. Now I cant wait to see her falling for the man she’s trying to get away the most. For someone who is so smart and calculative and she could never see that coming, which is VERY interesting. 😆😆😆

I had finished SOT too and I find that the character Hua Qian is very different in the first and second life. In the second life she was so cute and kind, so I couldnt relate with her first life character where she suppose to be the villain and did many wrong things.
But in SOKP, JXN still has the same characteristic, scheming and still not very kind. lol Probably a bit kinder compare to her first life but still not 360 change. You can see that she is still rude and arrogant with her mother and stepsister, and other ladies that she doesn't like.

From Xiewei's expression, I do believe that he was heartbroken and he did have feelings for her but due to their conflict and XN's behaviour and the things she did, that feeling never develop into anything. Up until now, the flashback didnt show much of the interaction between them in the first life.
And in the first life, XN was never in love with anyone else, except herself.

In the first life, Xiewei and Yan’s troop took over the city and siezed the palace. I think he sentenced her to death (from drama summary), so instead of waiting for the execution, she took her own life in exchange of Zhangze’s freedom, which angered Xiewei (you can see his disappointment because the empress cared so much for that minister).

We saw XW wield a sword, but unfortunately this is not a wuxia drama so we may not see him fight with it. I want to see him fight too!! We will only see him play his Qin. 😅
