Yeah this show is so good - just as it is . Nothing dissatisfying about it . You are right there are secrets within secrets here like peeling an onion or opening a Pandora’s box
So far I like Pei Sijing’s character the best. It’s written well. Very interesting drama! And very entertaining! And of course the main demon character is fantastic!
Either he died or just disappeared from their lives . To me he was clearly dead you could see it in his family’s reactions and expressions, especially his sister. Ad from the way the FL was behaving .

She really did not trust him or give him the time or space to heal on his own. What she did was not supporting him. It was really a disgusting thing to do given what he was dealing with

Let’s be honest even the first 30 episodes were a chore with the FL’s flip flopping and the ML being ok with everything. But he was definitely a lot more sensitive to her mental issues and sincerely worked with her so she got better. On the other hand I don’t think the FL did the same for him. She did not give him the space or the time to get better. Instead she was in a hurry to be with him and never really understood what he wanted
