I don’t think it was ego with ML. It was more disdain, anger and resentment because for someone supposedly interested in him she did not care or bother to come and see him or even try to find out how he was doing. And to add to it he lost his career for this person. ML had valid reasons to not pursue her or not treat her well but he did not do anything to her. He is a much better human being in general. Later he felt really bad that he had taken it out on the wrong person .

The difference is the word respect. The SML never respected the FL , he never admitted that he was wrong and he humiliated her in front of everyone. He made her feel guilty about her background. The FL lost all her self esteem when she was around the SML. That is why that relationship was all wrong. She was walking on eggshells trying to please him.
The ML respected her in spite of the misunderstanding and inner conflict. She could be herself around him . That is why the ML is the better match . What he went through was much more serious than the SML’s petty ego and self righteousness but the ML still gave her that benefit of doubt and that chance .
FL’s father is so dumb, how could he not know that they’re using him.
Yeah you wonder right? He left a capable wife and lovely daughter for that! That even dumped him because he had no money initially and he still went to that. What can I say!
Episode 24 was really nice. I love the way this couple communicates and resolves everything. And I like how they have taken this slow path towards each other . Very well done drama

We also get to see how and why he fell in love with her and all the dynamics in her family. That is not filler- it is background. Plus it’s good that they both have the time to process
I don’t think 23 and 24 are fillers. They both needed to sort things out - and we got to see exactly how awful the dad and his fake family was . That dad is just irredeemable
