Regarding this part: "An original and emotional proposal scene scene. It was beautiful!"

I cannot express how much I appreciate an imperfect proposal scene. A lot of dramas I have seen show the ML being very smooth and cool, but the most memorable ones for me are the ones where the guy is super nervous and fumbles with the ring. It feels more authentic.

Also, I really liked that you described it as "hopeful" because I strongly agree. "The First Frost" is sets a very winter tone but gradually transitions in a more spring vibe.

Mostly here to say great review =)

This is a very late comment since I actually read this review a long while ago. I already privately shared most of my thoughts but other than wanting to say I love the review, I also wanted to say that "Yi Fan finding out about Sang Yan's momento or keepsake box" is also one of my most favorite parts. I also really like the part in the HK arc where Yan learns about Yifan's life in the past. These moments where the character gets in sync and catch up on knowledge/feelings are my favorite. =)

Lol, for some more context. She (Savi) was suppose to watch some other series with me but abandoned me so she could rewatch this instead.

Why additional 3 Episodes ?
extra shorter episodes showing their happily ever after to make up for the angst. I think they could combine it though into one extra longer episode instead

In term of plot, this is still very slice-of-life, just darker. I personally think HL had a plot too so it's hard for me to tell if you'd like this because similarly, it's still focuses on characters living their life. The big difference is this one may (or may not) be more interesting because it's more serious and deals with trauma. I will say it takes its time building the characters and history, so it will feel slow. But I think you should give it a try and decide because this is really one of those ones that could go either way

People in general are insufferable. If we're going to make that kind of generalization, might as well include everyone =)

I think comparison is fine, it's ultimately how/where it's said. Though they are different, someone will like oranges better than apples. You don't go to an apple vendor/orchard and tell them them how disgusting apples are though compared to oranges, and how oranges are better.

That's not really something that I can prove, so I don't want to bring it up or make that accusation. The main point is still the same anyway regardless. For whatever the reason may be (and it doesn't matter) that the negative reviews are in front, it's not as bad as it seems. There are still plenty of good reviews and ratings. And ratings for this series is still good.

Yes, for your experience but there are a lot of dramas with related stories where the vibe/pacing tends to be the same. I was just saying not everyone will have the same knowledge that the tone here is different, so it's not a weird thing for someone to expect the general feel to be similar to HL. I'm just trying to advocate for more understanding for those people, right. Something obvious to us might not be for others.

Let me rephrase. My point is that I dont want people feeling stupid for thinking this may have the same vibe when they start watching but then realize it doesnt =)

Yes, but people are not going to know that is what I'm saying. That's not something intuitive from things that are related. If I didn't know, I would expect the same vibe too

As long as it's civil, anyone who makes an opinion can have their opinion challenged. That's just the nature of open forums/comments. It's especially true if someone use instigative language, people are more likely to get defensive. It may not be intentional, which I understand but that's why we have discussions. =)

I don't think it's obvious. I think it's normal for people to expect that story by the same author in the same universe (especially one related to the characters in HL) to be similar cause a lot of times (in my experience), they are. It's a normal association. But I get being frustrated but it's just one of things that we can be more understanding about.

It is nothing like Hidden love. Tried watching a few episodes, quite slow and boring. Not my type of drama.
I think that's fine and understandable. It's not going to be for everyone. Despite being related, the tones are very different. Not everyone is going to have prior knowledge of the story/author so I can see why HL fans would expect it be similar. It's like watching Season 2 or a sequel of something, most people would expect the vibe to be similar so I get that. But yeah, you can kind of have go in with a blank slate for this despite being the same universe.

Do I have to watch hidden love before watching first frost?
No, they share the same universe, but the story is independent of one another. They have overlapping events and characters but are standalone stories. There's no order to them.

I think cause certain words have a negative connotation and we get hung up on it, but if we just replace it, it's fine. I rather focus more on the idea of the post. So when you said "obsessed", I just replace it in my head with "focused" or "dedicated". xD

I think a good example is Lovely Runner. Maybe you saw it while it was airing so there wasn't any, but since then the comments there are very rating/review focused. The energy is much more negative there.

It's pretty common behavior for not only dramas but any kind of work that has a fandom. Music videos or songs from artist/groups is an example that comes to mind. Fans often band together to increase views/plays. It's the same for dramas. A higher count means higher visibility and higher chance of being recognized. While I agree it's not something to stress about, it's just a way for fans to show they appreciate something and are passionate about it. Plus it's not a bad thing. Fans banding together for the drama to get it a high rating says a lot about how much they love it and builds a sense of community. It's not a bad thing. (Trust me, this is better than another drama where there is a lot of fighting) xD
