You know what is scary to me is EH, a cop, sits there and listens to HY say if she can’t have him nobody can…
All during that conversation, I kept wanting him to say (and I know he couldn't) "if you keep us this obsessive behavior, and end up stalking him, you'll have to deal with me in a professional matter....you don't want that, do you?"
So, here we are, having passed the half-way point in the series. And I cannot help but ask: "What IS this show?"
I cannot deny that some of its best moments (which are VERY good) are high on the emotional/dramatic scale. Yeah, I know they are playing with our feelings, but that's the point of drama, right?
But where is the 'wild, crazy, hilarious' show we were promised as stated above in the Description? The show that was supposed to be free of the frustration and angst of it's predecessor daily series and weekender TRHC? That hype was real and deliberate to get the attention of a dissatisfied audience.
I honestly don't see how they can turn this series around into something fun. There's no basis for it when:
-We watch HY descend into madness with an obsessive/possessive behavior that is detached from reality. It just gets worse and worse for her....how many episodes have we put up with this so far? What is the point? Is there humor here?
-We see the blood feud between JA & CY: No saving from a deep-fryer splatter is going to be able to overcome this (at least realistically). Deep down, they both wish each other was dead. Where are the laughs in that?
-We see an immature, lazy, delusional girl try to come between her boss and his potential girlfriend, in a situation where at 7 year old kid is the most mature person in the vicinity.
-Add into this a murky set of familial relationships between parents & siblings at the KS Foodville chairman's house, a timeline the writers can't even agree on, theML's aunt who may have done one of the most despicable acts I've ever seen on TV, and finally, a plot with more holes in it than my pasta strainer.
It means something when a supposed-comedy has it's brightest moments during dramatic scenes. I'm not sure what it does mean, but I don't see how this show is the one I signed up for at the beginning. It's turned into a soap opera - without the usual tropes (so far).
Sher made a good point earlier - it seems like every time they give us a series of great episodes, they falter and we go dragging along again. And yes, I'll still watch it for the compelling factor, but it's not that entertaining anymore. And it shouldn't be like this: I really like Nam SangJi (I started watching it because of her) and I can identify with EH (which is why he drives me CRAZY at times).
It makes me sad that am I so disappointed in this series.
Just my 2 cents on a Friday night. Have a good weekend, folks.
Thank you writers, for FINALLY giving EH the guts to tell HY his feelings. He did the right thing, now let the chips fall where they may. If she continues her stalker-ish behavior, then he needs to do the hard thing: let her go. You tried, EH.
I watched that ending again. 😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️ What caught my eye though was in the previews……SW…
The best part of that scene (after watching it a few times - I must be a masochist) was when she entered the restaurant. Her body language was perfect. You wouldn't know she was an actress, it really did look like someone nervous and scared out of their wits, about to do something they've waited on for 30 years (look at how she holds her hands). Both she and the actor playing EH were great in that scene, even with the audio off - just by the expressions on their faces: her anguish/grief/relief and his confusion slowly overcome with what is happening. Such great acting deserves equally fine scripts!
Ohhh ok so does that mean she was meeting DG before all this went down or during all this going down. That's what…
I have a feeling that we are going to get a lot of flashbacks, which will help pad out some of the upcoming episodes and help establish in detail the events that led up to all this. There is an awful lot to explain.
And if JS did in fact, forge or falsify documents enabling CY to adopt the kids, then there can be no redeeming that character. She needs to be sent abroad for good.
The writers have screwed up the timeline so bad. Today CY states she met EH when he was 2 years old and met him…
I've given up on the timeline and am just ignoring it. And there are a lot of things that aren't making sense now: My biggest problem is, did CY adopt the kids? Divorce or not, JA would have had to give up her parental rights to permit CY to adopt the kids, if my understanding of SK law is correct. JA would obviously have never done this. Did JS forge her signature on those papers? I can't imagine. And why isn't EH angry with EA for hiding the truth about their real mom from him? I would be furious. My head hurts trying to reconcile these things, so I've just chosen to ignore it.
There will be a lot said about this episode, and rightfully so. I've only seen the last 5 mins and I could write a bunch about just that. But it does give me some hope for the writing team - as Episode 60, this SHOULD have been a Friday episode, with the ending scene a fitting cliffhanger. The Asian Games pre-emption screwed that up though. BUT, the writers stuck to their plan and kept this scene in 60. This tells me that there still IS a plan for this series, so I feel better.
I can't see how they are going to keep this show as "The story of how people who hate each other the most become the wildest, weirdest, yet hilarious family begins now!" There is too much bad blood now. This show has taken a turn towards darkness for me.
I does irk me that DG/CY keep referring to a 'misunderstanding'. DG, you secretly went to another woman's house for a night (not only another woman, but THE other woman) and didn't tell your wife. And she caught you holding hands with her. THAT AIN'T NO MISUNDERSTANDING, especially with CY sarcastically confirming that even her slightest meddling in their marriage caused it to collapse (probably her intention, anyhow).
The show is compelling, no doubt. But entertaining? We'll see. I really have no idea where they are going with this now. I really wanted something fun and light.
EH breaks my heart. He is affected the most imo. EA - well i get she is angry but at some point she will hear…
EH is driving me absolutely CRAZY. No man would sit there and repeatedly listen to HY drone on about her obsession with SW and her justifications for it (especially a guy carrying a torch for that woman). That last scene, it seemed he WANTED to interrupt her and say SOMETHING, but he didn't.
At this point I'm yelling at him on the TV to hold her by the shoulders and look her in the eye and tell her how he feels!!! And that she needs to stop looking for love because she's found it. If she then keeps talking about her feelings for SW, then he needs to get up and leave. It's no wonder that he and his older sister have never been in a serious relationship before. It's like they keep waiting for someone to come to THEM.
There are at least 2 secondary couples, but the only "romance" here so far has been some hand-holding and hugging…
You know, that's a good question! Maybe just the dead-fish ones?
I won't forget her kiss with "ChaYoel" when she wheeled him out of the hospital in the wheelchair and they talked outside that pretty glass sculpture in BML Episode 103 ( I even bookmarked it). That was so sweet and well-done - a really moving scene. The last 5 minutes of that episode may have been the best of that series.
I really wish Yang Byeong Yeol would make a cameo appearance here, but they won't do it. The chemistry he has with SangJi is the best I've ever seen in a daily drama.
How is this? Too crazy? More bad things happening than good? Many villains? Memory lost? Switch at birth? She…
There are at least 2 secondary couples, but the only "romance" here so far has been some hand-holding and hugging between leads. We're halfway thru the series now. So far, none of the usual worn-out tropes.
