Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄
Yes, and to everyone here, Happy Holidays, wherever in the world you are. I keep forgetting it's Monday, so we got a new episode too!

That would add some badly-needed intrigue and interest to this series.

I stand corrected: The cafe where JA meets DG is playing a very delicate version of "Silent Night" in the background. So more Holiday Spirit in our make-believe version of Seoul!

I wish I knew where that first piece of music came from, it was really pretty.

Title Unpredictable Family Spoiler
What a mess this episode was, and I'll ask again: Where is this show going???

Good News: At least we got that upbeat, jazzy version of "Oh Christmas Tree" at the Coffee Shop. It seems to be the only place in the show that has Christmas music in the background (we also got a choral version of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"). I appreciate the Christmas references in K-dramas that are in the winter time-slot (Christmas played a key role in 3 Bold Siblings).

Other than that:
- EH really disappointed me (again) with his badgering of EA. We saw in the beginning of the series how CY doted on him and it was one of his sisters who pointed out how he was his Mom's favorite child. So, she's brainwashed him so completely of his birth mom, he now feels the need to drag his sister back home? He did raise some valid points, but still, he is not seeing the bigger picture. So WHY hasn't EA told him about why their parents got divorced? What is she waiting for? That might make him see things in a different light, as happened to her.
- I wish JA had slapped DG when he called her 'honey/sweetheart/ darling' (whatever connotation of Yaebo floats your boat) in the cafe. That was a no-no. WTF is his problem? I don't blame KS being pissed. I was really glad JA called him out for that lame excuse about medicine delivery too. You go, girl!
- I did a double take when I saw the preview that SW is asking permission to marry, without even introducing ES to his parents. HUH? Did I miss a proposal? I get the writers are being pro-active (in AOME this wouldn't have happened until ep 100) but we've only seen them go on a couple of dates so far, and they are supposed to work together in a movie??? Sheesh.
- Props to YuNa for sticking the knife in HY and twisting it too. That felt good.
- I agree with Sher: the next milestone will be the Family Meeting for SW/ES. That's when everyone will realize the family connections (except for HY). That scene may take a couple of Eps. Everything we're seeing now is building up to that crucial moment.

And for a bit of editorial content: I really hate the contrived plot devices to make the characters miss each other in crucial scenes. We saw it again, when ES got the phone call just as she was about to go into the coffee shop and not meet everyone. Hey writers, how about this instead: As they get to the store entrance, ES tells SW "I'll meet you in a second, let me say hi to my folks at their store". More natural, less phony. I'm sick of this contrived crapola...you guys can do better.

6 episodes in, and I'm hooked. Such interesting characters, and I love the end-cap scenes where they show the detail behind a crucial scene earlier. It's so unusual I find myself craving more of these kinds of things. It seems small-town life is the same everywhere, where privacy is a highly-valued thing.
MinAh is really beautiful and portrays the "fish-out-of-water" so well. KSH plays the Chief to perfection. It really does the movie justice and fills in so much of the storyline.

Well about the only good thing I can say for Ep66 was the Christmas music played in the background in 2 scenes.

I really did NOT like in the scene where EH meets with CY, where they suddenly cut-away to a different location where he gave her a gift. That was jarring beyond words for me. I spent more time wondering WTH happened than paying attention to the action.

Otherwise, another forgettable episode. I've had enough CY to last me til Spring, frankly.

BTW, I see the rating is now down to 7.6. I have no idea how they calculate that, but I guess it's fitting.

DG has a lot of nerve.
Yup, she wears the pants in that family, it was established in Ep 1, when she yelled at him for buying her a rose as being wasteful of money.

Does anybody know or have an idea of how JA knew DG was at CY's house all those years ago. There must have been…
Their whole explanation is so phony, it makes my teeth grind. Even IF she legit needed medicine, what is he? A pharmacist delivery service? OK, fine. Take her the meds, but TELL YOUR WIFE AND BRING HER ALONG IF NEEDED. He used the medicine thing as an excuse to see CY in secret. And you don't need to spend the night either, without your wife's knowledge.

Every time CY/DG blow it off as a 'misunderstanding' it pisses me off and pushes me deeper to the JA camp.

You would think SW would start questioning his birth at this point - if his mom divorced 33 years ago and he is…
Good point. I was thinking about it: Wouldn't a normal reaction have been to want to meet their new siblings? That would be mine, but maybe I'm nuts too.

Ep 65.
Despite her histrionics, I can understand EA's reaction & attitude. I know I'm in the minority, though. I can't blame her for wanting to live with the mother she lost as a child, and is now reunited with. She made a good point: "I've lived with Dad for 30 years, now I want to live with my mother." She should have left it at that, though. There's no need to burn her bridges to CY. But, I can see her anger as with the situation as she sees it: CY did cause the breakup of her family and separate her from her mom. And it's got to seem fishy to EA that in all this time, there was NO mention of their birth mother. Frankly I wish both kids would move out of their parents house, and grow up and establish a social life. But, it is what it is, and I have no issues with moving out, just be more diplomatic about it.

The best thing about this ep is that we were spared HY and her scheming. THANK GOODNESS.

It's pretty obvious where the "comedy" is going to originate from: SJ & EA trying to live together. THAT should be interesting.

But the bottom line is that trying to make comedy out of tragedy is a big challenge. I'm doubtful these writers are up to the task. We shall see.

Is the CEO setting ES up for HY since he still favors HY for SW even knowing she is crazy?
I think he's being genuine. He's certainly heard by now that SW/ES are an item. And HY's burned him TWICE: the fake bun order & the evil producer invite. I don't see him doing HY any favors. Besides, we all know she will cross the line again, and this time she'll get canned. If I were that CEO, (well I would have fired her by now) but with the situation as it-is, I'd have her on the shortest leash possible, and have YuNa keeping tabs on her for me. She's hanging on by her teeth now, he's not going to cut HY any slack.

My initial expectation was that this show was going to be like HTCCC because the premise is exactly the same,…
Thank you so much for your evaluation. I am on the fence with watching this, and am currently watching HTCCC (up to ep 5), which I love. But, I also liked It's Beautiful Now, so now I'm guessing it's OK? The reviews below are somewhat concerning.

I'm a huge Shin DongMi fan, so I was really just going to watch for her alone.

Anyways, you've given me a lot to think about. Thanks!

KBS may have 'nixed' the idea as not suitable for an early-evening drama. Although the show does have the 15-years old warning on it.

I hope the drama that comes after this one has better writing. I was very excited for this one since the actress…
I know exactly how you feel. I watched this show for Nam SangJi, as "Bravo" was such a great show and her character was terrific. I trusted she wouldn't pick a stinker of a serial as a followup. Yet, here we are.

I wonder what the actors see before they sign on for a series? They were pitched the concept, I'm sure and probably the first few scripts. But when the writing goes off the rails, they're stuck? This reminds me so much of the ML actor in Apple of My Eye, who finally complained about how the show's writing and direction of his character changed so much as the show went along (he posted that at the END of the show, however, which was still pretty bold on his part). So he too, was sold on the concept as sold to him, only to see it turn out different.
