"And I praise my own eyes for actually discovering you". I don't know why but that is the line from this show that I still think of. It's both funny and sweet.
I told Loelha tonight that I don’t think I am gonna watch this anymore. I don’t like most of the characters…
I've often wondered if that was a deliberate lie, given the sour taste AOME left in everyone's mouth (domestic and foriegn audience) so that we'd believe this show was COMPLETELY different? Or, did it start out with that intention and someone (KBS?) said, "wait a minute, that's not what our audience expects at this time-slot - they want a soap opera"? We'll never know, but it was nice to see her get that award. She's still one of my favorite actresses, I just hope her next role is better suited for her.
What's crazy to me it that it makes 'Bravo My Life' and 'Once Again' such outliers in the daily drama realm of enjoyable shows.
Ep 81 represents the 2/3 mark of the series. And I can't believe what I saw tonight.
So, once again, EH sits down with his half-brother for drinks outdoors (at night, in a S. Korean winter, no less). And while he even alludes to his despair at his feelings for HY, he STILL cannot make the connection thru SW to link her to ES. I'm speechless. Has the cold affected his brain?
It's like the writers haven't even figured it out. My God.
What's next? Is EH going to push SW to HY, since he's given up on her? Sheesh.
I'm having serious flashbacks to what we went thru with Apple of My Eye. I'd like to think I've learned my lesson from that dumpster-fire. I think I need a break from this mess for a week. I'll read the comments here to keep up, but I just can't keep sitting here while we're all being played for fools while waiting for the inevitable to happen (that ISN'T happening, after all).
The story of how people who hate each other the most become the wildest, weirdest, yet hilarious family begins…
How about " A rambling story of two hate-filled women who will stop at nothing to make each other's lives miserable, while destroying every one else's happiness, including their childrens"
He is different because he isn't the normal chaebol ML. Chaebol ML CEO types are normally business oriented, cold…
Agreed! He's still searching for himself, even though he's over 30. The package he got in the UK was the driving force to bring him back home: to find out who sent it to him, and what happened to his mom. Working at the hotel was a means to that end, plus he could stick it to his half-sister.
Not boring at all...I'm just confused too, LOL. It's a very vivid example of how sacred the family tree is in Korean society, vs. ours here, where it's more of a "well, whatever, as long as you're in love".
I'm surprised it hasn't crossed EA and SJ's mind that as much as JA is fighting to break up SWES, she'll be doing…
You know, maybe that's how they'll play it? She pushes EH and EA so much that they just go back to CY and JA is left as she was at the beginning of the show, except now she's lost SW as well?
The Shin family, except HY, really has no bearing on this drama and I see no need for them - they have not spent…
This would work in a 1-hr format show, but again, in this 30 minute runtime format, there just isn't enough room for all these arcs. I wonder if this was originally pitched as a weekend drama? But, as I posted before, the writer's track record isn't exactly stellar, so maybe bad forethought is part of his work?
I'm surprised it hasn't crossed EA and SJ's mind that as much as JA is fighting to break up SWES, she'll be doing…
I've wondered about that as far as EA goes. JA's relationship with her is so fragile at this point, I almost wonder if she would say, "OK, he's not my first choice for you, but if you love him and are ready to be a mom...." all the while thinking, if I push her too far, she'll run back to CY. I'm pretty sure she'd have no trouble telling SJ to forget it with MG, unless she just wanted to get her out of the house at this point.
So will HY yet again overstep her bounds and fire ES? How many times will this be she has tried if she does?I…
HY is in an interesting bind (I use "interesting" loosely). Of course, she would LOVE to be able to fire ES (she's tried before to get her fired). But now, she knows she's on thin ice at the company, and she simply can't fire her. And, if she were in a plan to get ES fired, she must know SW would come after her as a prime suspect. HY needs to figure out a way to save herself from a no-win situation.
I’ve said for weeks now that GR knows more about women and romance than his dad does. Completely agree that…
I think right now....EA has the inside track because of her relationship w. GR. But when GR's mom returns, all bets are off. What's dumb is that we don't know (do we?) what they told GR about his Mom. Does he know she abandoned him?
I noticed in the opening credits, EH & HY are seen running away from something/someone, holding hands, and then embracing as if they've made an escape. I wonder what that's all about? I gotta believe it ties into their storyline - who would they be running from?
At least they haven't broken up yet and still hoping they won't. If writers want drama they can still have it…
You make an excellent point. By now, our "Ace Detective" should have put 2+2 together and figured out that ES is HY's enemy. Everything in this is unfolding so slowly, it's infuritating. When EH met SW at the cafe, there was no inkling that "this is the guy HY is interested in". I get that this will be a key moment in the series, and would be very dramatic, but to keep putting it off makes the characters look stupid. They wrote his character as a detective for a reason: To have someone on the show who could figure out what is going on. The fact that he hasn't just makes him look dumb. He's no smarter than his Dad. He should have been written as a cook at the chicken store.
I just told Sher earlier all the support part people all have main storylines which is way too many to be consistent…
I get the reason they are bringing in Grandpa so much: The want to set up the romance w. him and JS. But then we get a FOURTH couple! It's like the writers are stuck in a loop: creating more and more couples. Two couples max in a 30 minutes series, please! One reason this show is so choppy is they are trying to fit in 3 couples story now at the same time. This attempt at bringing in a 4th couple is simply filler, I guess. Who knows with this bunch of writers?
Honestly I wanted to smack the back of ES’s head for allowing herself to be abused this way.
She's so insecure in that relationship that she's petrified to do anything wrong. Hence, her fear of saying anything and their lack of communication. We saw this from SangJi too in BML where she would shrink before her boyfriend's adopted Mother. It wasn't until much later in the series, once the truth about her brother's accident came out, that she was able to stand up to his family. In her next role, I'd like to see a reversal for SangJi, where she is the one with the clout in the relationship and not just a meek, subservient doormat.

What a bummer. :-/
