Yeah but given the writer has set up this conflict as the main one, the big reason and Damocles sword swords over…
It's funny, I never thought of the truck in EOAT as a WTOD. But now that I think about it, it WAS white? That scene was so shocking to me and happened so fast (with the focus then switched to her reaction) that I never put 2+2 together. All I remember was shouting "SH**!!! when it happened.

And I am the parent’s age too. I totally get it.
I will be interested to hear your feelings when you get to the comparable scene in BML, and how that one plays out! And I understand about his being on his knees and maybe it's the smart play in the long run. But as a man, and seeing how he'd been treated and how his mother had been treated by that bunch for 20 years, I want the visceral satisfaction of TK ripping him a new one. He has a doctor's temperment...and the last thing you want is a hothead OB/GYN. But then and there, sometimes it's OK to get angry.

Yeah, I know, it just bugs me the way they laid it out, and yes, the lie is part of the structure of the story. But it has to be understood that by lying, they weakened their position - it's not 'no big deal' unless you cut all ties with your family and move elsewhere.

And I agree about them moving out. That place he found with our favorite realtor still fits the bill and it was between the 2 parents houses. I'm still hopeful that is an option. No matter what happens, InOk will still want to play a role in the baby's raising and they will need someone for daycare while they are both at work. She clearly WANTS to be a Grandma and it will be no big deal for Mr. Kim to shuttle her back and forth.

I'm trying to think of a way they could have done the lie with a twist: TK tells InOk the truth in secrecy, maybe during the ride home from the family dinner (not aired, so even we don't know about it). To everyone else, the plot proceeds as it had been, with YD's guilt intact but not expressed to TK by her. Then he can shock CS with the line to "talk to Mom, she knows". I want him to have the upper hand in that conversation and prevent that fiasco we saw with CS & YD, along with the dramatic moment when we learn that InOk knew all along. Plus we get the satisfying part where TK can cut the Chairman down to size. I REALLY want to see that.

Despite the spoilers you gave us weeks ago about this, actually seeing how they did it was too shocking. I figured it would all happen in the office bldg: she exits his office, grabs her belly, shrieks in pain and collapses in front of SJ and the secretaries. Right? Instead, we got THAT scene played out on a public street :-(
It reminded me of 2 other Kdrama shocking moments: 1) The pedestrian vs. car accident in Bravo My Life (wayyyy to realistic) and 2) The car vs. truck accident in Extraordinary Atty Woo (one of those OH SH!T moments).

Oh well, when your brain is empty, all sorts of thoughts bounce around in there....

Episode 17 at around 30 minutes in, CM is looking at JH’s resume and his birthday is listed as July 1, 1990.…
Good detective work!

And finally...

In past posts we’ve seen members dismiss the fact that they lied and just want them to move out on their own and break from the family. And that may yet happen, but it doesn’t quite fit their personalities and their societal norms. (Disclaimer – I’m the parent’s age, so there is probably some generational bias here)

Lies, by their nature tend to propagate and spread more and more lies to support the original lie, trapping the liar in the proverbial “web of lies”. We’ve seen this happen to our main leads. Their lie to their parents also carries its own weight of guilt which has been steadily crushing YD, especially in her relationship with InOk. The longer the lie lives on, the guilt on her increases, even in the most innocent of conversations (we saw it again in Ep29). She saw the move to the apartment as the escape from the lie without having to admit to it. TK, on the other hand, seems to essentially be immune to this guilt, probably because he’s so emotionally distant from anyone not named YeonDoo that he could care less.

But the problem with the lie is that strategically speaking, it puts them in a position of weakness, especially seen in the Chairman’s ultimatum in Ep 30. The Chairman uses his wife’s potential reaction to the lie as justification for his actions. Just imagine, if they had told InOk the truth at the beginning, and swore her to secrecy so that no one else would know, especially BongNim. Then, at the scene at the beginning of Ep30, when TK and CS go at it, all TK had to do is say “Mom knows. Talk to her. We will move out to appease your concerns”. Following this scenario, CS would have replied to the effect of ‘You told your Mother and not me? Why?” THEN, TK could have the option to really rip CS by exposing him as the disappointment-of-a-father he was. The Chairman would be stunned and TK would be dealing from a Position of Strength, instead of just saying “get lost” and forcing the Chairman to find the weakest link in the chain (YD) to achieve his goal. But TK couldn’t do any of that as he lacked the Moral High Ground because he was exposed as a liar.

For TK/YD to sit down with InOk at the beginning and tell the truth would have solved so much of this long ago. Yes, this would put some burden on InOk, but given the pain she’s had to see her son endure, it would be realistic to see her accept it (remember on the drive home from the family meeting, she told TK “that baby saved you!”) And yes, YD would be living with a lie to her Mom, but she’s already lied to her so much, would it matter? She’s used to dealing with that, as BongNim brings her own emotional instability to the equation as well.

Lying to your parents is never a good thing, especially with something this big. It just isn’t right, especially in their culture. Because it would leave any parent asking “Why would you lie to me about that? Do you not trust me?” and we saw words to that effect from CS when TK told him the rumor was true. The pain of hearing that would be difficult to accept for any parent as it makes you question your own upbringing of your children. And that pain would distract a parent from what the real issue was in the first place as far as what the lie was about.

That's it for the loose screws and nuts bouncing around in my head. Thanks for listening.

Second thought bouncing around in here:
In a heart-wrenching scene in the preview, we see TK on his knees begging the Chairman, presumably to accept them as family. We've seen TK with a pretty long fuse, temper-wise. In his fights with JH, he never takes the first swing.

But this time, I really wanted TK to stand up to him and scream at him to the effect of "YOU TRIED TO DESTROY MY FAMILY! WHAT GIVES YOU THAT RIGHT WHEN YOU FAILED ME AS A FATHER YOURSELF BY NOT EMBRACING ME AND MY MOM NOR PROTECTING ME FROM YOUR MOTHER AND OTHER CHILDREN OR EVEN SETTING A PROPER EXAMPLE OF HOW TO BE A GOOD MAN, etc, etc"

THAT'S the scene I want to see! Part of this ties into why it's bad to lie to your parents, and I'll explain that once I can formulate it into words.

A lot of thoughts bouncing around in my head while waiting for the dust to settle from ep 30. For starters:

Continuity Issue?
At the abortive lunch date (29), TK tells Granny he used to call the Chairman "father" but stopped because she hated it. In the Annex TK tells YD he never called the Chairman 'father'.
Didn't that strike anyone as odd?

They just showed Ep 28 on KBS America here. I couldn't even watch it, being so distracted/disturbed by what we saw today. I need a day or two to get my head right again.

Exactly! We really need the KBS version to be subbed.

Thoughts on Ep 30:
Normally I wait a day and re-watch before posting this, but I have no interest in re-watching this Episode. So here goes, this should be quick:

I wanted to FF thru most of this, but it was like passing by a car wreck and I couldn't bring myself to hit the FF button. The only exception is below. The funny thing is, there were some sweet moments for our leads, but all that was crushed by the ending.

HITS:
-Obviously #1 with a bullet is YD telling TK that they should live together and toss the lease. If they were gonna do this, why not talk about registering the marriage too???? And I was gonna save this for Kissing Monday, but GEEZ KBS, if this wasn't a major enough development for a first kiss, then WHAT IS??? That kiss would have bonded them and made it easier to fight what is coming up. GRRRRR
-Next up is YD getting the matching ankle bracelet made for Real's "dad". Although I was distracted by her not answering her fone when TK called to warn her.
- The necktie scene at the Annex and continued at DW's bedroom. We all get the inside joke of YD & YM talking about her 'friend' and it was really cute. God knows how the revelation of who is who is gonna go down?
- HW & JM. Next to the ending scene, this was also very tough to watch. I don't completely understand his reaction. But this couple really needs counseling to see if they are even right for each other. Olive needs a dad, but this marriage just may not be the best idea. I think she does love him, but they just can't communicate.
- A shocked pharmacist encounters HW. The fact that he can bring himself to cry in front of her speaks volumes. That scene was beautifully shot and acted. It may be the one scene I would re-watch, although it too was tough to watch.

So, all told there were some good moments. But they won't be remembered long because of ....
MISSES
- Miss Nutcase & Mr. No Eyelashes. Enough already!!!! She is micro-managing their stupid plan to death and he trusts her less than I do. The best part of them was seeing her mother meet them and find out they are 'dating'. I was cackling at their discomfort while she was interrogating them.
- Hee & SJ Girls Night Out. I FF'd thru almost all of this . What was the point? Karaoke? Really? In the middle of all the angst??? NO! BAD IDEA!! WHO CARES???
-Chairman's berating of YD and evicting her from the annex. Really, ChanSik? This is your way of being gentle with a pregnant woman? I get that you're concerned about your wife, but you're using a sledgehammer to attack a gnat.
- The crosswalk scene.....JH, clad in black & stalking YD out of the office building post-CS meeting. As I mentioned to BloomingTide below, the symbolism here was stunning but didn't prepare me for what was to come. And of course, TK riding to her rescue in his white stallion (err...Volvo). And he's clad in off-white....The tension of waiting for the WALK signal (will he dash or not?)....The ringing in her ears (well done) and her vision getting blurry before she passes out. Unfortunately, all that was ruined for me by the graphic details in the scene. That did not need to happen as it was shown. And of course, it will be repeated on Saturday's opening scene. GREAT.

So, watch at your own risk if you haven't seen it. It is a crucial episode in the series but be prepared for the last 2 minutes.
All that being said, this will be the longest week yet in between episodes. It will be interesting to see what happens in our comments section while waiting.

summary done if you still care for it idk i am gonna need a break first before i do anything else here in this…
NGL, I was certain that while he was waiting at the crosswalk, he'd dash for it and here comes the WTOD. It would miss him (since this writer loves mocking those tropes) but be close.

why the hell does JH put up with SJ I really don't get it "you're less of a man than the worst version of TK"…
for me, it's become a race to see which one will back-stab the other first? Him, to protect YD/Real, or her to protect her delusional vision of TK as her husband?

you can see the kocowa one on Dramacool now, the subbed version is released.
The kocowa/dramacool one lacks a couple of brief scenes (CS & InOk in the bedroom, TK calling CS 'father')
As usual with Dramacool, you must go to the actual dramacool.sk website and let it re-direct you to the current host site (not any of the other ones that are loaded with malware) and use the adblock extension on your browser.

Holy smokes, that was even worse than I thought. I need some time to digest all of that.

Right now, what registers to me is that the preview for Ep31 on Kocowa is different than what KBS Drama posted on YouTube (which is longer) You can compare the YT preview (unsubbed) here (even has different background music):
