Yes, it was actually a question. Several, in fact, as already enunciated: Who are the 1st to 8th Young Ladies of the Fu family? What happened to them? Did they die? Are they married? How come Ting Yun, the 9th, is the most senior Young Lady and main asset of the Fu family at the beginning of the drama?

To those I added in my second post: Why make her the 9th young lady, which immediately arises the inevitable questions? If none of the other 8 are going to be a character, why not just call her the First Young Lady and be done with it?

These questions still stand and, for those who may have an answer to any of them, I'd like to know.

Ok, that was many episodes ago, but if I remember correctly they weren't engaged at that stage. The only reason why he planned the fake wedding was so he could smuggle her away incognito before her grandmother found out she was still alive and tried to murder her again. Nobody knew it was her in the bride's palanquin until they decided to confront the funeral procession. Her mother then commissioned him to take her safely to the capital and gave him 50% of his payment in advance and her token as actual proof that they were not eloping.
