I don't understand the need to make one of them the guilty party. Both of them had their reasons to react as they did. Both of them suffered a lot at a young age and were psychologically damaged. She didn't tell him the truth, instead he found out from the evil marquis; then she let him believe she had married him out of pity instead of giving him a proper explanation. How is that scenario only his fault and not hers?

Isn't it! I even went back and replayed some bits as I was watching it first time. Some people were complaining before that they wanted more screen time from Bai Lu and Cheng Lei. Well, ladies and gentlemen, have your fill.

I just finished ep 33 and I'm about to rewatch it straight away. What a performance from both Bai Lu and Cheng Lei!! This episode in particular is a masterpiece of acting, direction, and scriptwriting. The background music is absolutely superb, the cinematography is haunting. I'm sure this drama will win many awards. Bravo!!

On a side note, I'm aware that 8.6 is a high rating for MDL, but this drama is at the very least a 9+ in my opinion. I've already rated it 10 and don't expect to have to change it.

The political intrigue has been there from ep 1 and is still there. You said it yourself, there are still 7 eps left; at 45min each, that's almost 6 hours of plot, which gives plenty of time to solve the Prince Li part of it. Perhaps just wait and see?

All the characters that turn out half way through are relevant to the plot and they don't just disappear into thin air, we know what happened to them. Maybe you need to pay closer attention to it.

As for the romance, it's in the actual lyrics of the OST: 'Love is not just about romance...'

In my view this is a masterpiece of a drama, definitely the best so far this year as far as the 33 eps I've watched go. I'm sure both Bai lu and Cheng Lei will win awards for this, as well as the script and direction.

Some people are immune to certain viruses, this has been widely known for a long time in real life. During the 2020 pandemic some people died of covid, some others were entirely asymptomatic despite testing positive.

A strong NO from me. I've just dropped this ridiculous excuse for a drama half way through ep 19. The plot has been going in circles for the last 10 eps, basically they just repeat the same situation. Worst script, acting, direction and whole lot of 2026, I doubt anything will come up this year to beat this as the most appallingly bad drama. Who the hell is giving it the high rating? I just gave it 1 star and wished I could rate it a fat zero. What a waste of time!🤬

Agree, but this is a recurrent (and most irritating) trope in cdramas; at the time when a succinct explanation would suffix, they just say the wrong thing or nothing at all, hence letting the misunderstanding drive them apart.

On his part, the fact that she didn't reassured him that she loved him for himself made him think it must have all been part of her feeling indebted and sorry for him when she told him she liked him in the past.

Agree. I'm glad I watched 31. Fei Bai did the right thing when he gave Xiu Yao the hair dryer treatment, it was needed. Now Xiu Yao is on his way up to Lishan to make amends and bring Ye Li back.

For him, the belief that she was with him just out of duty to a promise made to his brother was earth shattering. For her, being given divorce papers by the love of her life..., he may as well have removed the ground from under her feet. Both of them are at fault, both of them are victims of their own fears.
