OK I already had this hunch that the master is a sinister character which turned out to be true. Now I'm just guessing this mastermind might be the brother of Consort Xie or the former friend of General Shen. What do you think?

They've never really met face to face only when the prince was playing incognito. First episode when Lige was seducing LuYuan with her tantalizing dance - the prince was there but they were seated from a far distance & not facing on the dance floor. 1st assassination attempt that failed they never get a chance to see close each other. Remember that in both instances Lige wore a mask and the prince had never an up close encounter with her in these moments.

Just finished watching episodes 21 & 22. FANTASTIC! At last they met face to face but capital letter T. It's getting more interesting. Another villain not sure but I have a guess...

If you like this, not sure if you've watched it already but check out Magnificent Century: Kosem, a Turkish historical series. Slightly similar. It dramatizes the life of Kosem how she became a slave in the sultan's harem, how she became the favorite and became the first and only regent Sultana of the Ottoman empire. Romantic, compelling drama - soooo gooood.

I agree it's underrated. I gave it a 10. I believe some were expecting a strictly romantic drama. But alas! This is the story of Haolan mother of the future first emperor of China.

It's good that you're only at episode 9 so you'll not run out of episodes to watch. On the other hand, there's really a lot of good incidents in the succeeding episodes. I've already watch all the 18 and I'm dying for the release of episode 19, 20 & especially when they finally meet as Prince and Lige on their wedding day/night.

I watched Weiyoung few weeks ago and I liked the premise. But I was not impress with it compared to this one (Song of Glory). You are right though it has that kind of vibes. Hopefully the creators really took the creative license and completely romanticized this story.

OK I researched it immediately after I read your post. Only God knows exactly what happened right? But damn! Interesting how this goes....Nevertheless I love this drama.
