I checked this out and skipped scan because there's no English subtitle yet. I'm very interested because the plot is not a cliche. Cinematography is great. Please any Chinese speakers do a subtitle for this regardless of your idol's absence. This series seems to be fantastic.

It's actually very interesting. I've only watch 2 episodes so far because there's no English subtitle. Nevertheless I enjoyed and was captivated even in the first few minutes of this drama. Absolutely approved and like the cast - they are all matured and have all the acting experience under their belts. Which means I find their portrayal very good none of those child-like nonsensical style which you see often. Probably teenagers would snub this because they won't see their idols.

is this drama related to sound of dessert?
Supposedly the sequel according to them. But the synopsis you'll find in Google says that Yunge is the daughter of Jinyu & Huo Qubing. Which is a fallacy because Jinyu/Xin Yue married Wei Wu Ji on The Sound of Desert.

I did enjoy this series. Very entertaining and interesting plot. Critique: It's ridiculous that as adult couple they hardly kiss or had physical contact. Come on creators or actors you're not a nun or a priest that's prohibited from having physical contact. There were scenes that called for couple's physical contact - I'm not referring to sex but at least a caress or snuggle would do.

OMG! What's taking forever for this to be shown. Post production was done since 2017. This has been in the back burner forever. I can't wait! Seems to be a great story and incredible cast of characters.

I like it so far. Seen two episodes from Viki. The introductory scene was very compelling for me. Seems to be a very interesting series I hope it's not going veer towards a mediocre one. The dance and her costume were very mesmerizing and riveting. I'm also glad that the creators chose matured actors and actresses not the teeny-tiny young ones that seems to dominate the screen now a days.

Does this drama involve politics and if so is the ML a brilliant strategist or just goes along with the evil guys…
It's loosely based on the story of the mother of first Chinese Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di. It dramatizes her perseverance in life. Great cast and acting and it has more depth. To be honest I avoided the series for a year and eventually decided to watch it. I was rather surprised and amazed. I know it was not as successful as Story of Yanxi Palace but it's a fantastic dramatization of her life under the backdrop of the decaying Zhao state and the emerging rise and powerful Qin state. There's a slight love triangle among Haolan, Lu Buwei & Yiren the exiled prince of Qin. Indeed politics & strategy are huge part of this series because it's during the warring states period. I would say this is the number one Chinese series for me that has the perfect choice of casts from the lead actors to supporting ones. Check out the young Qin Shi Huang Di actor he's very compelling - too bad he didn't get more screen time. For me they're all fantastic. How I wish the creators continued the series until her death or the death of Qin Shi Huang Di just like the Turkish tv series Magnificent Century Kosem.

Wow, Wei yingluo is superb. This drama is excellent.Apart from story of minglan and Joy of life, which other drama…
Hello, check out Legend of Haolan. Almost the same cast and it's loosely based on the story of the mother of first Chinese Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di. Haolan might not be as feisty as Yinglou but it dramatizes her perseverance in life. I can't wait I love Republican period dramas. And the synopsis seems to be interesting. How I wish it will be subtitled immediately once it is shown.

I want to watch this - I'm there for any c-drama when two people in love do more than just stand in the same area…
Hear! Hear! I concur. I thought I was the only one who noticed it. I used to make such a fuss about these things but I digress. It's not only Chinese titles though there are also some Korean ones out there. Oh well as long as the drama is good and the English subtitle is release, I'm alright.:O

The drama is available with English subtitles at Huashi Idol& Romance YouTube Channel. Click on the CC Button…
Thanks but the English subtitle is auto-generated. It's way off from the actual translation of the dialogues.

I actually started to watch this series a year ago and I got so interested because of the first episode. It was great. Then came the scene that those children grew up and became late teens or young adults. Enter Angelbaby - and I really can't stomach the acting. She's terrible. So I dropped it. Decided to watch it again with the same result. No matter how much prodding I did to continue watching I can't. Sound of the Desert was such a fantastic series from the cast to their superb acting. This is the world that introduced me to Hu Ge and later Eddie Peng. Cecilia Liu was a perfect choice. Probably the creators could have chosen Yang Mi in this one.

Never knew who Ethan Juan was since I was never really a Chinese drama watcher only lately. After exhaustingly watching all the Western shows during quarantine period from Hollywood made to my usual favorite British period dramas which extended to dramas from Spain. I ventured to Turkish dramas, a country that never runs out of handsome actors even the supporting ones are such eye candies ( e.g. Magnificent Century/Kosem/Ertugrul & etc which are superb). After watching Legend of Fuyao I fell in love with Ethan Juan & he's quite good in a mischievous way! He's not outstandingly handsome compared to my fave Turkish actors but he pervaded in my memory after watching the show.

Thomas Tong's portrayal as the emperor of Qin in The Legend of Hao Lan was superb. Although it was a supporting role but I was rather surprised by his acting. It was very compelling. How I wish the creators continued the series of The Legend of Hao Lan until the death of Qin Shi Huang Di as the first emperor of united China. Same concept as the famous Turkish historical drama Magnificent Century: Kosem where it not only dramatizes her life story from childhood and becoming a ruling Sultana. But it also showcased the story of her children who succeeded to become sultans of the Ottoman empire. And it also dramatizes their life story and tragedy.
