On this app, not all users are genuine some use actor profile pictures but rate the drama 1.0 while having plenty to say or shading others for simply liking it. So what if the drama has a 9.0? If you’re not the target audience, there are plenty of other modern dramas to watch. Don’t start acting fake and claiming others don’t respect your opinion. I checked this page after a while, read through some comments, and noticed exactly what’s going on.
Some of these creative choices are poor especially towards late end of the show. All these developments should…
In the first few episodes, we see the leads slowly rekindling their feelings for each other. Since the episodes haven’t concluded yet, it’s likely that Yifan will continue to work through her remaining issues, hopefully finding a better approach to resolve them as the story progresses.
It feels like some people in this comment section have run out of things to say. Why is it so difficult for many here on MDL to understand the leads’ story? Yes, certain changes may have left a bitter taste for some, but when you look at it from a different perspective, the reasons behind those changes become clearer.
Also, why the generalization of male leads who choose to approach situations with emotional maturity and consider their loved one’s perspective, even when they don’t agree with their decisions? Yifan’s choice to leave was flawed, and it’s completely valid to criticize it, but that doesn’t mean her reasoning wasn’t understandable. At the same time, Sang Yan had every right to be upset, but instead of shutting her out, he tried to understand why she made that decision and worked toward rebuilding their relationship unlike the first time when they fell apart.
The drama takes a slightly darker approach to Yifan’s character compared to the novel, and Sang Yan’s role in her journey makes sense within that framework. His love for her is genuine, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Not every story needs to have a perfectly balanced dynamic between the leads. In this case, Yifan is the more flawed character, while Sang Yan remains steady. That difference doesn't take away from the depth of their relationship.
Regarding the male lead, he's far from stupid. This drama presents different relationship dynamics, and in real life, most partners deal with situations differently. There’s no single right way to approach love and conflict each relationship is unique in its own way.

I completely agree. Trauma isn’t about how long or intense the experience was it’s about how it affects the person. WYF’s struggles were realistic, and expecting her to just 'move on' ignores how PTSD works. I’ve done some research on this, which is why I see where she’s coming from. It’s refreshing to see someone acknowledge the complexity of trauma rather than reducing it to just 'bad decisions.' Mental health awareness is still lacking in many discussions, so I appreciate your thoughtful perspective on this.

Wen Yifan’s decision wasn’t about being inconsistent it was about her trauma dictating her actions in the moment. Trauma isn’t something you just “choose” to get over, and it doesn’t always lead to rational decisions, no matter how much support you have. She wanted to fight back, but fear and past experiences clouded her judgment, which is realistic. Saying she should’ve just gone to the police ignores how difficult it is for survivors to trust the system, especially when they've spent years feeling powerless.
Also, the idea that she should have sought professional help or talked to her best friend ignores the reality that not everyone can process their trauma openly. Healing isn’t linear. Even people who want to heal don’t always take the “right” steps immediately, and it’s unfair to act like she’s just avoiding responsibility. Her struggles were deeply ingrained, and running away wasn’t about abandoning othersit was about her own emotional survival in that moment.
And the cat thing? That’s honestly an oversimplification. Her love for her pet doesn’t contradict her trauma response. People struggling mentally sometimes leave behind things they care about, not because they don’t love them, but because they feel incapable of being there. This doesn’t make her a bad character it makes her a human one.
I don’t think the writing was inconsistent at all. If anything, it made her arc more real because real people don’t always make “logical” choices when dealing with fear.
two truths can be said the same time.the biggest disappointment I have for the show is the fact that we are at…
I don’t agree with this take. Wen Yifan’s decision wasn’t about noble idiocy it was about trauma, which isn’t something that just disappears because she’s in a relationship. Just because she trusted Sang Yan’s love doesn’t mean she suddenly became fearless in the face of her uncle. Trauma responses don’t always follow logic, and people can still make choices out of fear even when they have support.
Also, being a journalist and studying law doesn’t automatically mean she’s emotionally equipped to handle this situation. Knowing the law doesn’t erase fear, and legal knowledge doesn’t mean she wouldn’t have doubts about the system actually protecting her. Her uncle may not have been the most powerful person, but he represented a deep-rooted fear she had carried for years. The show didn’t make it about fighting some all-powerful enemy it was about the psychological hold he had over her.
Saying that trauma survivors can “still think straight” ignores the reality that fear and past experiences shape reactions. Her intelligence wasn’t erased her emotional response took over, which is completely realistic. Healing isn’t a straight line, and just because she regretted hurting Sang Yan in the past doesn’t mean she wouldn’t struggle when faced with the same fears again.
Her choice wasn’t about running away just for the sake of it. It was about her, her unresolved fears, and her needing to face them on her own terms.
I really enjoyed the romance aspect of this drama The leads have such good chemistry together, which made their moments feel genuine and memorable.
On the thriller side, while it wasn’t the best-written part of the story, I still liked how the plot twists unfolded in most episodes it kept me engaged and eager to see what would happen next. I liked that the sister didn’t turn out to be the wicked evil stepsister, and Heejoo took it slowly with her mum, which felt heartfelt. I don’t usually follow MDL ratings, but I truly believe this drama deserves at least an 8.5 here. That said, I rated it based purely on how much I liked it, and I’d love to see the leads paired up again in the future!
I thought so many people know about the issue going on, it was mass downvoted by bots and some users because it included something sensitive . The drama deserves 8.5 at least
I might be one of the few who liked episode 12. Episodes 1-10 started off strong, and I also enjoyed episodes 11-12. While I agree that episode 12 could have been written better, the leads' chemistry and acting stood out throughout the series. Honestly, I think it deserves a higher rating, like an 8.5. but i understand why some people were upset about the inclusion of a particular plotline . Sorry to say this, but user Sihar is spamming too much it feels like an unwanted ad. I had to block the person, and the comment section is much better now.
"when the phone rings" storyline was well-executed in most parts, but this one issue has led some viewers to overreact or act overly "woke." Let people enjoy what they want to enjoy what’s with all these arguments about Wattpad or not? Age doesn’t matter when it comes to watching anything. Some people, like me, are not teenagers and still found this drama enjoyable.
I do not think the drama is overrated at all. Also, Soobin’s acting is genuinely good. I don’t understand some of the takes some people don’t even seem to know what acting as a mute person entails. Maybe try acting yourself and let others judge.
I didn’t like the last part involving the Palitima issue, but aside from that, it was a good watch. I hope MDL allows us to add more people to our blocklist because what’s with all this fight Those claiming to stand by something keep spamming the comments with the same complaints.
For peace’s sake, I don’t want anyone replying to my comment. Please just ignore it if you want to question me.
I really enjoyed watching the drama overall. The thriller aspect could’ve been written better, but I still liked the twist. Sometimes the makjang felt a bit over the top. I liked the chemistry and acting between the leads, and episode 12 definitely deserved better writing. I just don’t understand what the comment section has turned into, even though I didn’t like that one line in the drama.
I would like to add that, in my opinion, this drama was far from bland. It was such a breath of fresh air, hitting all the emotions perfectly, and I never got bored. I’ve added it to my top 10 for this year loved it 💗
This drama had such a heartwarming and touching journey from the start, with episodes 1-4 bringing that classic romcom nostalgia. What stood out the most were the dialogues so much depth and realism, with quotes that really hit home emotionally. As the story progressed, it highlighted Seokryu's career and the different relationships, especially showing why it's called Love Next Door , with love blooming around everyone. The last two episodes wrapped things up beautifully with the Lavender Ladies’ friendship being a key focus, Seokryu and Seunghyo’s relationship developing, and Moeum’s big decision about her boyfriend and little Yeondu.
I recently finished Welcome to Samdalri and felt the same connection to it. My Liberation Notesalso hit me hard, but in different ways. All three dramas really know how to leave a lasting emotional impact.
