I think it's streched thin. The slowness takes the intrigue.
Unfortunately most of the murder mysteries I come across suffer the same ailment of slowness and normally I don't watch Jdrama but Beyond Evil, 13 Years of Dust, The Watcher, Ripe Town, The Knockout, The Long Night and Copy Cat Killer are some dramas I can think of now. Check them to see if you like them.
I swear I keep seeing Han Dong and Zhang yu xi in the same project together, the 4th time already !!!!!!
They collaborated during a short time, the other 4 were released around the same time but this one was delayed till now. 😆😆 Imagine them seeing them 4 time from '19 to '21 together.

Haven't seen that. It also wastes a lot of time. Like the authenticity of the letter. Normally handwriting and signature experts could've easily handled it but here we see no such a thing. Halfway into it, still they talk about it being fake and story just crawls ahead.
Probably was cut down to fit the new 40-eps-max standard.
Acrually I remembered this drama was licensed back in '22, shortly after being shot and I'd seen it. The number of episodes there is 40 so 50 eps. was most probably wrong from the start.
They are related in the source materials. But they are stand-alones in the dramaland. So watch them as stand-alones.
Oh, thanks. I haven't finished MM yet but so far as you said there isn't anything related to this that makes the story difficult to understand. I just saw Tian Qi's name and how he's absent being mentioned several times kn the comments hence I thought maybe he comes later.
