I agree with you... maybe it seems like flirting cause PM likes Heejoo so anything Heejoo does that is soft to him looks like flirting.
But Hejoo does treats him like a big brother. Even when PM propose to Heejoo, he still didn't said his feelings out loud, so it seems more like a care from her side and not like a love confession. Even the way she calls him, 'oppa' is actually a very normal word, she even rebukes I An by saying should she calls him 'unnie'. Which shows she don't see him in that way at all, that's why she thinks there's no problem.
Us viewers know the truth cause we can see all of it. Even with IAn, she needs to confirm his feelings with him.

Cause it seems like Yan Huai is a kind brother to Prince Rui and Prince Xin considering that Prince Rui actually go to the border to ease the emperor and Princess Xin even help emperor bandaged his wounds. The casual conversation Princess Xin had with emperor while treating him was giving the formal 'big bro and lil sis' vibes.

Just finished this show and it is so good 🥹🥹. First of all, I love the outfits ❤️the colours are very vibrant. Srcond, the leads. I think they have really good chemistry. Honestly, I'm shocked at Ao Ruipeng. I've seen him in the blood of youth, but that character leans more towards fun and silly. So to see him as YanChi who is this serious, disciplined man is just wow 😮. Though his visual is soft and his build is not as masculine and big, I truly believe him as the marshal.

Also, I really love the cousins' relationships. Yongning, YanChi, YanLi, YanSui, YanZe. I know that in this kind of dramas, all the royal male are rivals to the thrones. But I can't help but wonder, they grew up together so surely there must be some cousins they were close to. And I think this drama shows that dynamic really well. Even the crown prince was kinda nice to them though not as close. Yan Zhen(Yan Che's full sister) and Yan Qi are the only ones that were not kind to them.
