While I do agree it's a valid point I don't think they actually get the same injuries all the time. Because when they carve words on their arms I think that only the words they carved themselves stayed on their arm. Like the word that got sent was visable for just a little and then vanished. I might remember wrong though.

Very true, but then again it seems these immortals aren't supposed to "feel a lot". The fact that she is the empress probably means she has to follow even more rules then Yetan, and well the emperor seems hard to get along with. I also hope she will be able to step up and fight for her kids.

I think that the emperor is simply jealous of the fact that he is so much stronger. Before Youqin died, the emperor knew that one day his son would sacrifice himself by repairing the tree and was therefor not worried about his son being so strong. Now after Youqin basically did the one and only job his father really needed him for Youqin is a threat to his power.
I also found it odd but then again, my guess is that they have retained some stuff from the original person. I don't think any of the shards would learn the whole writing system in 1 year so I think it was just there in their brain.
