''You'd sing the soprano part in a choir, afterwards...'' LOL haha I'm definitely against kicking between men's…
Lol...I'd definitely never do this to a man, who'd not deserve it, but if one would try being violent against me...he'd be negatively surprised...
But I'm really no fan of scenes like this in a drama series, showing the girl simply letting it happen. And what I saw in the cut scenes, she let it happen at least twice, once with Zhu Youwen and once with Ji Chong. What's even more worrisome: the fangirls cheer like "they finally kiss", because it's Darren Wang and Xiao Zhan who kiss Li Qin. I'm not sure, she really enjoyed filming these scenes. Of course, most of it is acting, but if you look into Li Qin's eyes it's not to miss that she was not happy within these moments. She felt uncomfortable and that's visible...and that's something the director should have noticed...
As for the CGI-animals, I really hope, there will be some statements of the studio. If not, my rating will also drop down a few stars.
I'm still struggling with whether I like it or not. A lot of things are great, such as costumes, settings, cinematography. Other things are not so great, like claiming ALL animals shown in the series are CGI-generated, while SOME are DEFINITELY NOT, like the little wolf pup in the beginning of episode two or the falcon/hawk used by the bounty hunter...
What I definitely NOT like, are the kissing scenes, I saw, so far (in cut scenes on FB and Weibo). They were in no way attractive, just ugly and violent. The way, Zhu Youwen throws himself at Ma Zhai Xing while pushing her against that tree, was nothing but ugly and all I could think was: "Boy, be glad, it's not real and it's not me, because, I'd definitely not be able to guarantee for your safety if I'd get my knee between your legs. You'd sing the soprano part in a choir, afterwards..."
Hi,do anyone know when was Xiao Zhan shooting this drama ?And where can I watch this drama with eng subs ? Thank…
The series got announced and registered in 2015. Casting took place somewhen between 2015 and 2017. Scriptwriting took about 2 1/2 years - starting in 2015 and finished in June 2017 (while filming was already in process). Filming took place between April and September 2017.
49 episodes, 45 minutes each, finished in 14 hours. Don't tell me, you watched the whole series and watched all…
2020 wasn't really the year for c-drama highlights. Can't remember a year, ever since I started watching c-drama, where so much stupid stuff got released. But, maybe it's only me as I made the mistake to rewatch some great stuff from the days before the numerous bans kicked in and before the censors started to bury their stinky noses everywhere. I'm a fan of the big historical productions (Three Kingdoms, Qin Empire, Great Revival, Chu and Han, Sui and Tang etc.) and of certain directors like Cao Dun or Kuk Kok Leung. Romance and the CGI based Xianxia dramas are not really my dancefloor (except they star / co- star some of my fave actors). I heard a lot about "Love and Redemtion", but Crystal Yuan makes me cringe, so, I don't think, it's a tale for me.
But back to "The Wolf". The cinematography is great and the costume and setting department did a splendid job, but sometimes, I think, the filming in HD isn't always in favour of a drama. What I hope for is, that the story/filming will get a bit more motion and movement. The one thing, many new drama series of the bygone two/three years suffer from is that they are static. The actors sit or stand around too much and talk without even moving a hand or finger. That is not how conversations work. People move their hands, walk around, are dynamic. Their heads move, their eyes move, a smile here an frown there... The above mentioned directors (Cao Dun and Kuk Kok Leung) are masters if it comes to vivid scenes. So, I really hope, "The Wolf" will get even more dynamic as it already is.
You are right about Darren Wang. This role demands other things from him but looking like a cute little boy, so, yes, he is well chosen for this character and thumbs up for the casting department, having made this choice. Li Qin is gorgeous, no discussion here. She just should be careful that her roles won't make her end up playing the same kind of character over and over again. It's not to overlook that her roles from "Princess Agents", "Song of Glory" and "The Wolf" have a lot in common - actingwise. I'd really pity if she'd end up used for sterotype roles only.
If Luo Yun Xi is considered the (second) male lead who never gets a happy ending (Princess Silver, Ashes of Love)…
Li Qin needs to be careful that she doesn't end up playing sterotype roles only. Totally agree with you about the similarity in her roles/characters. If I'd see some scenes from "The Wolf" out of context, I'd think it's Princess Yuan Chun after the rape scene from "Princess Agents" or other similar scenes from"Song of Glory". It would really be a pity if her talent would get wasted on playing the same kind of charcater over and over again.

This series is definitive a highlight of 2020. Sadly, there weren't much, this year. And to re-watch some good stuff is never wrong.
Well, I finished episode six (going with Tencent's release of free episodes and downloading it from there). So far, I like it. A few things, I could live without, as they are overused and outworn (falling down that cliff - yawn), but there are many things, I like: The dark atmosphere and the dark undertone - these things always attract me. Also the co-stars and guest stars are really well chosen. We don't need to talk about Li Qin: she's a "housenumber" as we use to say in Germany and she grew into a very good actress. I'm just struggling a bit with whether I like the male lead or not. The performance is great, no doubt on that, but Darren Wang's looks are not really what I'd swoon over. But it's his acting that counts, and I think, he does a very good job, especially when his character runs "wild".
Nope. The female lead died and the male lead was left alone.
Same here. I'll watch RAW for first impressions and screencaps and then I'll rewatch with subs. So far, I really like the atmosphere this series creates with a lot of tension and even dark moments. Totally my stuff.

Not judging or anything. I was just wondering, because as you say yourself, having waited for it for so long and then having binged it left you kind of sad as there was nothing left for the moment (until subs are up). I grew up and later spent my teenage years watching my fave series air one (!!!) episode every week (!!!). Tension rose and excitement and missing out on just a second would have felt like getting stabbed. When the season was over, it meant to wait for about nine to twelve months till the next would air. Today, with everything being available 24/7 all year long, series seems to get consumed like fast food, which I find a bit sad.

As most dramas based on novels with novels based on historical characters, it surely dosen't follow history 1 : 1. That's the freedom, novellists and screenwriters have. Thanks heaven!!! Watched the first two episodes, last night, and so far, I think, it was worth the wait. I don't care about what people say, who claim they have watched 49 episodes in one day, because what did they see??? They must have skipped so much, so, I'll never trust the ratings of a person who claims having watched all episodes in 24 hours or less...
i binge watched this from 1 am to 3 pm (with a few breaks in between), and i. am. sad. i hate that i want more,…
49 episodes, 45 minutes each, finished in 14 hours. Don't tell me, you watched the whole series and watched all episodes at full length!!! With breaks, even??? How much did you skip???
Let me do my maths: One episode has 45 minutes... Two episodes have 90 minutes... Four episodes have 3 hours... Eight episodes have 6 hours... 16 episodes have 12 hours... With good will one can watch about 20 episodes in 14 hours - without taking breaks. In 14 hours, one cannot even watch half of the 49 episodes...
Honestly, how'd am I supposed to trust in your rating, if you'd do one???
Okay but can we not hate on the voice actress who is just doing her job. That's just her voice, the bad dubbing…
Of course, it is the job of the dubbing actresses and actors, I agree. But it's not the production company that makes every production and every actor/actress sound the same. It's the sterotype way, the dubbing actors do the same thing over and over again. It's so boring! Li Qin, for sure, does not need a voice-over.
I don't know her name (they didn't add the dubbing actors, yet), but she already ruined so many great performances for numerous wonderful actresses. It's such a shame, especially if you know Li Qin's real voice (in "Joy of Life" and the BTS videos from "Princess Agents").
Ahhhrrrghhh!!! Why, the heck, did they give Li Qin this awful dubbing voice??? Why??? Each time, I hear that cow dub another amazing actress, making them all sound like spoiled brats and utterly annoying "misses-knoweth-alls", I feel the urge to switch off the sound...
