As I assumed: it got removed already. Honestly, the fuss about this series is going on my nerves. I'm out. But you can try to watch it here: http://www.chinaq.me/cn180814/1.html
Ohh! Surprise, surprise! I really found episdoe one on Youtube (bet on it, it won't stay there for long) and took my time to finally watch it after having it downloaded first. So, that is what I've been waiting for so eagerly over the bygone months...hm... Thinking about it now, I ask myself, why...
Not only did I need tape to glue my eyelids to my brow to keep them from falling shut and me from falling asleep, I also found the whole first episode unable to make me get into this drama. There was not a single moment, where I felt it making "click", it was simply a sequence of random scenes and not even the acting was able to knock me off my feet.
Listless performance with only one single ray of hope, so far: Zhao Li Xin and Hu Ke. Chen Kun, even though still handsome, looks way too old for the fact that he's supposed to be the youngest of the brothers we got to see, so far, and NiNi looks like a younger version of Zhou Xun. Given the fact, that their characters are supposed to be of almost the same age, I don't buy it...
If I don't fall asleep if I should ever get to watch the rest of the episodes on Youtube (or any other channel), I'll try to make it until Yuan Hong and Zhang Xiao Chen make their entrance. Then, I hope, there will finally be at least a bit of passionate acting... So far, I'm utterly disappointed...
So, a big fuss and a lot of promotion about "Rise of the Phoenixes" on Croton Mega Hit's Youtube Channel, but the episodes are still only available on iQIYI and get killed off with deadly precision whenever uploaded elsewehre, What do they wait for? They weren't so picky when they promoted bonbon coloured "Eternal Love" and other series, uploading two episodes per day back then for the less priviliged audience without a VIP account. But I guess, the possibility to sell the series to Netflix might be the reason for all the fuss... People will pay for watching then, so, no need for free uploads on Youtube...
It's so much fun to rewatch this again and in much better quality. I won't get tired of this series and of its cast and I still kowtow to Chen Long. Chen Long, who, tired and exhausted from just having finished filming "Nirvana in Fire" and longing for a break, decided to jump in for his "Water Margin" (2011) colleague Gao Hu who had to back out of the production, due to some silly happenings which might probably have ruined his carreer for good. No matter how, the series is a nice watch and really entertaining, even if you watch it the second, third or fourth time. The cast, led by Nie Yuan, Chen Long, Mark Du, Zhang Jun Ning, Michelle Yip and Mao Jun Jie is well chosen and delievers everyting a wuxia series is based on: well choreographed fight scenes, a good sense of humour, a good amount of action and their own voices as the series does not use dubbing. The most outstanding performances, though, come from Chen Long as leader of the Dongchang and head of the 'Eastern Agency', Wan Yu Lou, and from Mark Du as his counterpart, the leader of the 'Western Agency', You Jia. And if you watch attentively, you can still catch a few glimpses at Gao Hu as the lack of time and the production schedule made it impossible to fix all of his scenes.

Wow! They really did a fantastic job then! And "Day and Night" too! It's also an incredibly thirlling series. It kept me glued to the screen in the same way like "Bloody Romance". You don't know, by chance, when its season two will be ready for broadcast?

Thinking of what this amazing team created for "Bloody Romance" with limited funds only, I don't even dare to think, what this team could create if they'd be able to use unlimited funds. This series is the ultimate proof that not money is essential if you want to create something great, but imagination, creativity, passion and a great team. Many multi million dollar productions won't even reach the intensity of only one episode of this series...
In Germany we have a saying: "Jemand guckt wie eine Kuh wenn's donnert, which would have to get translated like "Someone looks like a cow when thunder rolls"...but I like the "dying duck" better in English. lol
Even though I love Chai Bi Yun, Gong Mi and the male trio Zhu Yi Long, Yu Qing Bing and Zhang Jun Ning, I will never forgive that they ruined the OTP Cui Nong/Fu Hong Xue and their tragic, yet beautiful lovestory for this cheap made up fanficton...
To commemorate BR's achievement of exceeding 1 billion episode views on Youku a few hours ago, I'll shared an…
Thank you a 1000 times for all the background information. I'm so in love with this series and all those pieces of information always make my day together with downloading the new episode from Youku. I kowtow to you! Thanks, thanks and thanks again!!!
Zhu Yi Long and Yu Qing Bin - Fu Hong Xue and Ye Kai in "Bordertown Prodigal" - are actually reason enough to give this a try, but adding Mrs. 'Oops-I-did-it-again' Viann Zhang to the cast made this a no go for me. Never again would I waste my time on her poor acting and her staring into the camera using the only expression she knows: the dying duck.
Holy moly, what an excellent crimes series this was. From a thrilling idea over a well thought out script to absolutely captivating acting all I can say it that this belongs to the best crimes series I've ever watched. "Day and Night" can easily catch up with series such as "CSI", "Criminal Minds" or "Spooks" and I can't wait to watch upcoming season two. 10:10!!!
1. Gong Zhi is the Duke of Ning because of his mother's relationship with Li Ke Yong, the Emperor's father.2.…
Always have and always will. :) And, yes, I have it on my list already... will keep a watchful eye on it. Also because of my FB page about Asian/Chinese movies and series.
Watched 2 episodes so far and not my cup of tea! I feel bad that a lot of times when people tell me something…
You speak my mind almost 1:1. I really wonder what makes people go so crazy about this!!!??? It's so overdone and goofy and hyperactive and, as you alreday mentioned, it doesn't offer anything new. The whole storyline feels as if it got brought to us a felt 1000 times already with different titles and actors...so boring. And then those horrible CGI sceneries with those bonbon colours. It's hard not to hurt ones eyes...ugh...
A word on Yang Zi: I agree with you about her acting, especially as she's on with "Destiny of the White Snake" too right now. I can't tell her two characters apart as they are all the same.

Well, after all, we need something thrilling to watch in 2019 too, right? So, I'll remain patient. :)
