I didn't say that the fans treat it as if it contains the secret of eternal life, I said the creators, producers and distributors treat it as if it contains the secret of eternal life. And that is what's going on my nerves. There wasn't such a fuss about "Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms", "Princess Agents" or other shows, which are much loved. But keeping the fans on a short leash just because "Holy" Netflix is involed is pathetic in my opinion. The fans are waiting for English subs, that's what's the majority of comments here include. The worldwide growing interest in Chinese drama series should drive the producers on to do subs together with a series release on the spot. They should not wait until passionate and devoted fans do the subs or a streaming channel like Netflix! They invest so much money in their shows, so why not investing in professional subbers too? That would be clever - staying independent from streaming channels by taking things in their own hands. And this should go not for this series only... Meanwhile, Chinese drama series can easily keep up with international productions, so, why the heck don't they do more promotion? They kill the series off or don't make them availabe internationally instead of promoting them worldwide. ..that's crazy...

Many thanks for the effort. I'll check on it again. Sadly, it's the truth, and we'll have to rely on Netflix for the subs. I wonder, if the DVD will be out with subs too. Then I'd rather prefer investing in a DVD box instead of Netflix. ;)

Do you, know which version iQIYI shows on their streaming side? TV or DVD? If I read all this about DVD and TV version, about the series getting torn down from each streaming page no matter wherever it shows up (thanks for the link, but obviously no episodes available there anymore), about the missing subs and about the only way we'll be able to watch it with subs being Netflix, I lose my interest in starting to watch this series more and more. The fuss they create about it is so annoying! They treat this drama as if it coatains the secret of eternal life. But, sorry, if I have to pay for a Netflix membership to watch this with subs, they can keep their precious for themselves.
Can someone spoil the ending for me please, happy or sad? good wrote ending or bad?I refuse to watch historical…
I think, the best way to judge if the ending is good or bad is checking out our beloved Erudite's video about the true meaning of the end: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yj91491ByM8
I also have a major case of second lead syndrome, but I'll watch it to the end because I want to be there for…
Xing Feng once promised to save Chang An if he'd find that Chang An loves Wan Mei that much that he'd even die for her, because he would do the same for Cha Luo. So, being the bailiff of the community and as he sees it as his duty, he punishes Chang An first but takes him to safety later. He writes down his wehreabouts on the fan using Chang An's blood (and a hidden code) to make sure, Wan Mei would always keep it safe (and would also be clever enough to solve the riddle one day). That's Xing Feng's punishment for her before he commits suicide because Wan Mei killed the woman he loved (Cha Luo). In the last scene before the ending song, we see a little cottage with lovely trees in its garden - that's Chang An's hideout. The creators of this series had low budget and ran out of money, so, this ending would make sure to serve as a proper ending with hope left for the lovers if there would be only one season as well as a cliffhanger if they should be able to gather the money for a season two. Our dear Erudite could explain this better and more detailed to you and also did a video about the true meaning of the fan and the ending. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yj91491ByM8
I don't think it's the female lead you can't stand, it's the character. The way it's written, she has to act that…
Seems, many still don't know that the writer of the novel is also involved in the writings for the series. Oops! If I remember it right, it was also the author of the novel, who said that the series and the novel should be seen as two different stories about the same people like taking place in a parallel universe. @Erudite: Please, correct me if I got something wrong.
If anyone is still considering watching this, I would advise against possibly wasting 46 hours of your life. This…
Returning here to add another thing: Don't forget the 180 ° change of Bai Ping Ting from hating Chu Bei Jie to running after him like being in heat within the first two or three episodes!
The only bright spots in this series were Wei Bing Hua, Li Hao Han and Yu Bo.
That historical King was mean, but his fave concubine was even worse. If I'm right, there's even a drama series available about them. And, yes, the King and the concubine ar both leading charcaters in "Zhao Ge". I'm all curious if they'll get depicted the right way, cruel and barbaric, and not like an adorable couple everyone drools after.
Am I the only one who can’t stand the female lead? She signed up to be an assassin, but can’t bring herself…
She singned up to become an assassin, because she's forced to and because it's the only way for her not to get thrown back into the brothel or to get killed and not because she's convinced it's right to kill those people she's supposed to kill. It shows her dilemma perfectly, because she's actually kind-hearted and compassionate. To be honest, I actually like her because she's not like Cha Luo and Liu Gang.
