Beautiful statement on "Bloody Romance" official Weibo: "This Summer's story is still very long: 凉州安定 (Liang Zhou An Ding) - Safely Settled in Liang Zhou! Under the Apricot Tree! Wan Mei, there shouldn't be any boundries..."
Chang An`s "ending" makes no sense. What a writer would think this an appropriate conclusion to his storyline.…
They weren't even prepared for the success of this series when they finished filming, so, I don't think anyone thought it would cause such a stir, not to mention having thought of a second season at that time. If I'm right, the director or the producer dropped a statement (after the series finished broadcast) that they were overwhelmed by BR's success and that they'd love the idea of a sequel, but (what I know) there is nothing planned, so far. Our dear Erudite might defnitely be better informed and the better source, if it comes to these things, though.
Chang An`s "ending" makes no sense. What a writer would think this an appropriate conclusion to his storyline.…
The writer of the series is actually the writer of the novel.
There are a number of problems, the series had to face: One of them is: The novel never got finished. All endings to be found are fanfictions, written by devoted fans. Another one is that the production ran out of money and had to cut out scenes they would have loved to film but simply couldn't afford. The plan was to make Chang An lead his army to confront Gong Zi/Cha Luo & Co, but that would have needed about 300-500 extras (which they couldn't pay), not to mention the costumes, weapons etc. it would have needed... The same goes for some scenes which would have needed CGI. Things would have gotten too expensive for this little independent production. So, I for my part, admire what they made out of their limited funds and what their passion and devotion created. Compared with many multi million dollar productions backed by sponsors, big companies and TV stations which still look cheap, this little series managed to create magic with literally nothing.
Wow this is for me what Eternal Love was definitely not! 58 episodes where definitely much too long for the plot…
You speak my mind! Totally agree about that bon-bon-coloured and cheap looking eye-cancer creating CGI-festival that TMOPB is, in my opinion. Ok, that might be a bit too sarcastic, but I think TMOPB is totally overrated. If you think, what kind of a high class drama the creators of "Bloody Romance" brought to life with limited funds, what tension they created and what passion they got banned on screen performed by an also high class cast... Many of those barbie-pink painted idol dramas don't even manage to reach this with overflowing funds and a thousand episodes...
Thank you to the person(s) who added extra cast info more recently.I noticed that some of my previous character…
When I was new on here, I wasn't quite sure what to do. So, I checked on several actors I like and found that they couldn't be found. That was when I started adding them to the data base. It was great fun, but it also needed a lot of time and with Summer approaching, I spent more time outdoors than indoors. I'll go on with updating data when the short days and long evenings get closer. In addition, I found, many dramas needed a 'cast' update, because only the leading couple or the young actors got added, while anyone 40+ simply got ignored. "Water Margin" was the perfect starting point. I did character edits for almost all 108 Liang Shan heroes for my FB page (some of them I added to the series' photo section) and with this series in the centre, I drew the circle wider and wider. Pure fun! And a challenge too, as I do not speak Mandarin...

Had some lazy moments at that time, when I was new on here. So, I went through many of the series I watched or want to watch and added info for many actors and series. Especially for my beloved "Water Margin". :)
Im I the only one that notice Li Qin looks different? Maybe older like way older, maybe she got skinnier in the…
Filming for "Fights Break Spheres" started in early 2016. Means casting started in 2015, so this got finished before filming for "Princess Agents" started. Means also, Li Qin was younger when she worked on "Fights Breaks Spheres" than when she was working on "Princess Agents".
Gong Zi is the actual male lead here. The whole story runs by him. The female lead is so stupid to fell for Chang…
Not every woman runs after a man who holds power or likes it if a man tries to force himself upon her. Some women enjoy it if a man cares for them, respect them, gives them time... And there is a bit more about Chang An but just a being servant. By the way, a servant is a living and breathing person too and some have a better character than any master, king or emperor...just saying...
*sarcasm alert* What a pity that the author of the novel, who's also the writer for the series chose her husband as an image for Chang An. *end of sarcasm mode*

Same for me. I often watch the series and movies RAW. Especially if actors are involved, I like a lot. Made me learn a lot of vocabulary, meanwhile. "Across the Ocean..." and "Heroes of Sui and Tang" are available with subs. Sadly, "The Stand-In" is not, but that series is so thrilling.
I am not ready for Bloody Romance to be over! Does anyone have a recommendation for another series?
Still have to watch the last six episodes (got knocked out by a nasty cold). for taking screencaps. Afterwards it's time to rewatch BR and Guardian with subs. I don't know your taste if it comes to series and if you need to watch with subs. However, I'd highly recommend "The Stand-In" (2014), "Heroes in Sui and Tang" (2013) or "Across the Ocean to see You" (for the one and only Wang Yan Lin).
1. Duke (that's the proper translation) Li Siyuan probably brought back Yue Ying's umbrella [*] to be hanged up…
The hint of her being Gong Zi's shadow already lies in her name as Ying is to be translated as "Shadow". Zhang Yimou's new movie comes up at the perfect moment. :)
DVD version was released the same time as TV version. It is the full uncut version of the drama. TV version is…
How i miss the 1970s and 1980s when Chinese, HK and Taiwanese movies could regularly and often be found in German movie thetares and on TV. Nowadays, we mainly get brainwashed with American crime series and anything Marvel. Blergh! It even got hard to find good BBC productions or French movies. Glaldy, I do not have problems watching on Youku, Tencent and other online platforms. That compensates for a lot.
Friendly advice : The drama was good at first but if you want a drama with romance do not watch this show you…
If love is only defined by the number of kisses a couple shares, then it's quite a poor love. Their love was so intense, you could feel it all the time: on the swing, looking at each other, holding each other (there were, in fact, several tight hugs), making sacrifices for each other, sitting by each others side, teasing each other and so on. Love is more but kisses and sweaty limbs wrapped round each other in mushy love scenes like in "Ashes of Love".

It's quite a bit contradictory, isn't it? On the one hand you say, China's 1,4 billion people build a proper audience, so why would they bother to make a series available worldwide, on the other hand you say, they need to make it available worldwide if it flops in China. Um...yes! That makes sense! Really! If I may dare to say so, they already have media to show it to the people (even worldwide). All they'd have to do would have to be adding subs! I'm from Germany! What do you think, where I watch all the series on my list? Youku, iQIYI, Tencent, Sohu - whatfor do I need Netflix if I can watch the series I want to watch on a Chinese channel? If China's production compnaies would invest in an own streaming channel, if they'd invest in professional subbing, they could promote and merchandise EVERY series worldwide not just those Netflix, Amazon prime and co. show interest in! Then, their series would surely never flop, becuase there is an audience for almost everything, if you offer it to the world.
Interview with the author of the original novella, who's also one of the scriptwriters https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/BnJjOk4ZClSxs0hEbTYY-A…
"Next time there might be a kissing scene..." Next time...ohhh...that has a nice ring to me!!! Second season, I'll be all here for you!!! Waiting (im)patiently for what became my fave couple to be back!!!
There is so much sweetness and gentleness between Wan Mei and Chang An and they have those lovely hug-moments and both depicts their love perfectly and creates a wonderful contrast to the cruelty at the King's court and at Cha Luo's court. I don't need those excessive kiss- (and what else ever-) scenes) like they were all drooling after in "Ashes of Love". I really like how the love between Wan Mei and Chang An gets shown, following the medieval rules of courtship. It's so refreshing in a time where there is almost no movie, series, magazine etc. anymore without following the idea of 'sex-sells'.
"Bloody Romance" is definitely the proof that less can be more. Much more....
Thrilling, captivating and addictive storyline, clever cut episodes and an excellent cast make this a great watch. Got through the first 12 episodes in a marathon today, totally glued to the screen. Chen Ruo Xuan and Wang Long Zheng are cool, each on his own. Chen Ruo Xuan is a great choice for the role of the student and I'm glad, the creators of the series decided to cast him, the youngster and newbie, instead of one of the idol-boys or the glamour-lads, whom you get to see in every second drama. He has a fine sense and feeling for acting and it's the perfect counterpart for Wang Long Zheng's sarcastic police officer Tai Wei.
