Well said! 👏👏👏 As a sub-title reader I always find it interesting and appreciate it when native speakers point out good and not-so-good line delivery, prose etc. , especially when it is apparent in costume dramas. I have even read where there have been instances where the incorrect modern use of the language has infiltrated historical dramas via engravings on tombstones or signs. Personally, I am absolutely enjoying the FL but exactly like you said, it makes sense why native speakers do not and how it can pull them out of the drama experience at times. Conversely, bc I dont speak the language I might be more sensitive to beauty aesthetics and find that no matter the speaking skill level of the actor/actress, modern anti-aging facial procedures can easily distract and pull me out of historical dramas . Maybe that is one of the reasons why I find this FL especially refreshing in a historical setting? 🤔
