I remember starting to watch this but then being creeped out that she was entering his dreams without his consent or knowledge. She was like a stalker fan of an idol.
I know the ML wants to find out the truth, but hurting the FL like that is not acceptable. He saw that she is…
Absolutely agree - I mean she is mature enough to handle the truth and not give it away to their enemies. If she knew at least they would be OK and she could pretend to ignore him instead of feeling heartbroken.
This was one of those dramas where they set up one guy as the ML (I thought at least) and then it turned out that another guy was the real ML and the first guy was SML... Yet for me the second guy (the real ML) was just a SML... I don't get SML syndrome so when they "changed" the ML to the second guy she met my heart just wasn't in it. Apparently I am a "first come first served" kind of person.
I feel like Muren is prolly just scared about losing their friendship and how Li Cheng went from being friendly,…
Wasn't that just a dream though? I doubt that's what really happened because when Muran was talking about it with their friend and to himself he didn't mention it. And if he had really called out to Li Chen during the night I think he would have been even more mortified when he realised LiChen had stayed with him and seen everything.
Hmm... I think it's safe to say that LA and novel are two different beasts. Like what Meatbun said for HYX and…
Yes, they are different creations. I do like the drama version quite a lot so I don't mind.
Its just sometimes when there are interpretations in different media of a very unique piece of work it feels quite sad that they missed what made the original work so special. Even if the interpretation is fantastic there is just that little bit of regret. I don't feel that way about WOH but have experienced it at other times.
While I kind of miss ZZS for the novel I love the drama version of ZZH (except when he gives moral lectures to WKX :/) his is dynamic, funny and like you has so many layers. To be honest I really didn't like the actor before.... So I was a bit sceptical when I started watching WOH but he has totally won me over. I am absolutely looking forward to what he will do next.
First of all, I loved your comment and I think you really nailed a couple of aspects of ZZS.
Especially (1) THIS is my biggest issue with ZZS's character. I loved how he treated his past in the novel. When he left the organization he really did leave it physically, mentally and emotionally. It was his past, and he was reconciled with it. Given the changes of his character in the drama I think it makes sense that he has more regrets and sees it differently. However I really hate how that regret makes him judge WKX harshly and hypocritically. And also, when he left in the drama it was to be free and live HIS life for a change yet he chooses to keep being involved in the issues of the world.
He is too much of a hero for my taste in the drama I guess ;) It kind of relates to you (4) that the novel really managed to show his complexity and created a great character who wasn't just the typical hero yet was a hero in his own right. So it is a bit sad that the drama ZZS is a more "typical" hero.
I also agree with you that while the drama is good, (even great at times) it doesn't manage to fully capture the essence of the novel. To its benefit or detriment I guess is a subjective opinion.
Thank you for the in depth analysis of the drama, I would say I agree almost 100% with what you are saying :D
You are definitely right. In the drama they softened ZZS's character by a large scale, he is definitely warmer,…
I haven't watched the whole drama yet so I am not sure if they delve more into ZZS past with his organization, however I feel like in the novel he doesn't really need to feel that bad for his past because he felt his actions served a higher purpose and brought positive consequences for the kingdom. In the drama (as far as I've seen) his involvement with the prince seems a bit more morally questionable so it would make sense that he has more regrets.
I think the added past connection in the drama is ok, but I'm glad it wasn't a part of the novel, it would have detracted from ZZS and WKX relationship I think. Their totally random meeting and connection was part of what made their relationship beautiful for me.
I am currently reading the novel and I have to agree with you. In the LA, ZZS is def "warmer". Probably due to…
Yes, I thought so as well: warmer and more engage in what is going on in the world. I do like ZZS in the drama, except his judgmental statements towards WKX... It kind of comes of as quite odd considering his own past. I thought it made more sense later when it was clearer it was mostly coming from a place of concern for WKX.
Wow, I am really impressed by Li Cheng, the way he just throws himself into pursuing Muran shamelessly is really really brave! I love his character, though I foresee that he is in for some heartbreak...
I have the book..It is called "Mirror Image" by Sandra Brown.
OMG - really!?! I thought it seemed familiar and wondered if it was possible it was based on that novel. I loved that book when I was younger so incredibly happy that it has an adaptation even if they changed some aspects :D I don't even care there isn't any subs xD
Is this an close faithful interpretation of the novel? I've read a couple of people saying it is, and am curious what people think because I am on the fence. For me the characterization of ZZS isn't very close to the novel? But the plot progression isn't that far off.
