Loving the show but idk how to feel about the romance, not gonna lie it makes me uncomfortable at times coz I…
So glad that I wasn’t the only one weirded out by the thought of an older guy basically disguised in a girl/woman’s body pursuing a man in almost a stalkerish way. To make it even more weird, the grown-up niece keeps calling her/him “samchoon”. The story looks like a cute premise for a drama, but not so much when translated to real life. I didn’t read the web toon so I don’t know if it was even explained why she remembers all her past lives?
She won't able to say fuck off to her cheater ex but she has ability to point of out ml shortcomings. Wow.He already…
He told Yuri that he bought a ring for her but didn’t propose because that was as far as he could go. He said that even if she broke up with him, he would still have proposed or went after her if he really loved her or something along those lines. So I think it’s not really that he is unable to express himself totally but realizing who he really loves and committing to that person even at the risk of getting hurt is the problem. As awful as it sounds, I think Bora would be doing both of them a favor if she dumps him because then that will help him decide what he really needs to do. She gets to keep her self-respect. And he gets to fire that darn Chekhov’s gun.
I rarely say this...but this needs to be 16 ep.....to flesh out the ML growth....He's in the same situation again…
I agree. ML seems to be more mature in dealing with every other situation except when it comes to his own feelings. He really needs to step up big time.
I may be wrong, but perhaps this is where this drama (“True to Love” in English speaking market) has been…
Haven’t thought of it this way. In my mind, I pictured character growths for our main characters where they needed to face their fears and insecurities. Bora finding her self-esteem and standing up for herself would be the exact opposite of what she did with her ex. That conversation she had with Soo Hyuk earlier about who would dump the other seems to be what she will do as she will have enough self-respect to break up and move on if that person was not treating her right. Meanwhile, Soo Hyuk getting a deja vu of his relationship with Yuri will finally realize the depths of his feelings and have the courage to confess or propose to her. He has to overcome the fear of having a relationship doomed before even starting. I actually like that Soo Hyuk didn’t go on a jealous fit the way Bora’s ex is doing. He was the better man for acting more mature than her ex.
I thought it was clever that the writer didn’t just give us the usual “they will both confess and kiss and all will be well” at this point. I think having this happen is a better scenario that would bring them the closure they need from their past. It’ll be like a splash of cold water if this turns out differently. Because really, they can’t be having those shared intimate moments and conversations and it all goes to nothing.
It’s a minor detail that I want to see have some resolution given the way it has been presented in almost every…
Exactly! All of Soo Hyuk’s actions have proven that he feels differently for Bora in the efforts that he makes bending over backwards for her. And all those times he keeps looking for reasons, any reason, just so he could spend more time with her.
He actually said in recent episode, when he at first suggested they go continue drininking to his house, that…
Yes, he did tell her that when they met again. So I’m guessing there’ll be some comical situation surrounding that if he does go through with the housewarming.
I am more interested in Bora's reaction. Will Soo Hyuk tell her? Or will she discover the truth accidentally.…
I’m curious about that as well. From her perspective, Soo Hyuk seems to be giving mixed signals. I mean sure he’s been dropping hints, giving her flirty glances and all but then he withdraws the invite for drinks. She keeps telling him that he must be doing “method acting” and she keeps reminding herself to not get ahead of herself. I can’t wait to see how these two lovebirds sort this out.
Now that we’ve come to the final stretch, who else wants to see how Soo Hyuk reveals to Bora where he actually…
It’s a minor detail that I want to see have some resolution given the way it has been presented in almost every episode so far - starting with the many times Soo Hyuk takes Bora home first, going to the gym and meeting with her at the cafe, all places near “their neighborhood”.
It’s one of those little details that speaks volumes of the way it shows the contrast between how Soo Hyuk behaves with Bora and Yuri.
I think it’s also brilliantly funny how they used this info to present a sort of comedic situation such that Soo Hyuk has to revoke his invitation for late-night drinks at his house. And then later come up with a plan to invite her to a housewarming to his real home.
I think it’s a minor detail that deserves its own conclusion. 😉
Counting down the hours - how to fill in the time???Maybe enjoy this video (from 2 weeks ago) of Yoon Hyun Min…
I’ve been scouring for interviews and behind the scenes segments too. Their photoshoot is cute too. Have you seen the ones the four of them did for ENA? I also have the OST on repeat “Again”, “Half and Half” and “The One Who Wins” are my faves. Time can’t pass by fast enough!
As of ep 12, have they started dating?how is the romance?
It wasn’t officially stated between them but they’ve been spending many moments together, sharing candid and intimate conversations in between discussions about work it’s as if they are “dating”. It’s not the typical display of romance because they didn’t confess directly but we can tell they are obviously attracted to one another. Some viewers want to see more but for me, I find this kind of interaction equally fluttering. The repartee is also one of the highlights of their burgeoning romance.
So, now we ask why didn’t he pursue her or make his move then? I think this time we can see how the character…
I wasn’t sure of that timeline with his ex. If that were the case, then that just confirms and adds to the strength of his character. That is, being loyal to a person while in a relationship and not being impulsive. And also, he could just break it off with his girlfriend then, but he didn’t.
As I’ve mentioned in a previous comment, this drama was cleverly written with details that were put into place…
So, now we ask why didn’t he pursue her or make his move then? I think this time we can see how the character Soo Hyuk was written. As we know, he’s not very good at expressing his emotions. And he’s not the type to be doing something impulsive. He seems to be the type who can only connect with someone through work or university. (He and Yuri were from the same school). As he said, he didn’t think he would see her again. So, he probably just shrugged off that feeling and forgot about it as time passed.
I think this really speaks a lot of Soo Hyuk’s character how he helped Bora through all those tough times. Even before knowing who she really was. Having witnessed what she went through while going through his own heart being broken. Saving Bora from that embarrassing public scene, looking for her and finding her by the roadside after she calls him clearly drunk and still not over her ex. He really is the kind of person who would help someone or as he said, a hurt deer on the road.
As I’ve mentioned in a previous comment, this drama was cleverly written with details that were put into place…
In Episode 2, when their first meeting at Jinlee Publishing took place. Bora tells Sang Jin that they’ve met at his wedding. But there is no reaction yet from Soo Hyuk. He did not connect the dots at this point.
I think that moment Soo Hyuk realized that Bora was the woman he met at the wedding was when she was trying on black dresses. That moment she came out with THE BLACK DRESS and he seemed to stop breathing. He asked her: “Did you just walk in slow motion on purpose?”
It’s the exact same way he described what happened when he first saw her at the wedding. That moment took his breath away in the same way when he first saw her at the elevator.
As Soo Hyuk describes of himself, he is “not creative enough” to make up stories. Plus, we see how he had difficulty connecting Bora to Deborah from the radio and cover photos. But that moment he has the same emotions when he saw her wearing a black dress was the trigger that jolted his memory and put all the puzzle pieces together for him.
As I’ve mentioned in a previous comment, this drama was cleverly written with details that were put into place from the beginning. I’ve been giving some thought as to the sequence of events and how things happened the way they did.
Reading some posts below, I find this post by Yocheved Pereira intriguing:
“So here's my two cents: he was enthralled by her when he saw her at the wedding which was probably four-five years back, and "had a love at first sight moment" which was a fleeting scene. Since he saw her all for 10 seconds.
But that emotion was very real. “
So this got me thinking: (I’ll put the next one on spoiler)
When did Soo Hyuk first realize that the woman who “took [his] breath away was definitely “Dating Coach Deborah”?…
Thank you for breaking down the episode. It’s clever how the writer ties up the details, isn’t it? This drama got me to rewatch previous episodes just to see how things actually unraveled. Not that I mind. I’m pretty sure there will be more rewatches in future. And just like you, I went back to find out when exactly did SH realize that Bora was the same person he met earlier.
I’m certain he bought the ring not because he really intended to propose. I think he was just pressured to buy “something small and sparkly”. And he bought that ring out of spite because of what transpired in the jewelry store. He didn’t even know what kind of ring to get. Heh. As SH himself said later, that was as far as he could go. He couldn’t bring himself to propose since he didn’t really love Yuri enough to marry her. Four years is too long for a relationship where a guy doesn’t even say “I love you”. But anyway, as destiny would have it, that ring will find its way back to its rightful owner. 😉
I suppose it’s one of those things where viewers have to suspend their disbelief for the sake of plot narrative.…
It probably does, to a certain degree. The show mentions in passing about politicians and I can imagine celebrities or those in the limelight, athletes, etc being in the same situation.
It's incomprehensible (and unprofessional) to me in Episode 4 that no one especially her bestie kept her company…
I suppose it’s one of those things where viewers have to suspend their disbelief for the sake of plot narrative. For me, it works in that it must be hands-down everyone’s worst nightmare. What could be worse than a self-inflicted public humiliation? How about dealing with the aftermath of that incident? I’m impressed Bora managed to survive through that. Even more impressed that our main lead Soo Hyuk witnessed all of Bora’s vulnerabilities and low points yet he overlooked those and genuinely cares and starts to fall for her. He did what was the right thing to do amidst a crowd of people who thinks or does otherwise. Soo Hyuk is definitely a keeper and oh so so swoon worthy.
if you have the time, RE-WATCH the last half of EPISODE 2! - there were SO many lines in the ep (with Soo Hyuk,…
It might be possible we’ll get a flashback of them meeting sometime in the past. Or maybe we’ll see it was Soo Hyuk who saw and was attracted to Bo Ra first when they met before. How nice would it be that his words at the “pretend to date” this episode all turn out to be the truth after all!
I went back to watch some parts of episode one just now. It’s funny how it looks like Bo Ra might actually be the reason (though he didn’t know it then) that Soo Hyuk hesitated to give the ring to his gf. When he was waiting at the dining place, Bo Ra happened to pass by, maybe that’s when Soo Hyuk realized that he wasn’t really in love with his gf then.
Both of them go around the same circle of friends so it’s really not far fetched that their paths have crossed before.
The little details of them being attracted to one another and trying hard not to until they sorted out their previous relationship scars is also one of the things that makes this rom com stand out.
Just saw the ratings and omg barely 1.2% :( How is this drama so underrated?? I guess it's mainly due to the leads…
I read somewhere that most productions avoid Wed Thurs timeslot because it competes with a very popular trot show. Even with well known stars, ratings don't turn out so good. So it's like the most dreaded timeslot to be in. (I haven't fact-checked, just sharing info I read).
I feel bad for CJH and PJH though. They are really good here. Maybe this drama just wasnt hyped as much as others. I am enjoying it a lot though, no matter what the ratings.
