Can anyone explain to me the back-story of the 2nd couple - WHY does she like him; WHY does he like her? What…
As much as I like the 2nd leads, I don’t feel any connection to their characters at all. It’s hard to root for them when we aren’t shown much of their history and their present timeline interaction is mostly shallow dialogue. Their first meeting seems to be the umbrella scene (?) and it’s strange to me how she confesses to him directly at that young age. Both of their drunk scenes also aren’t cute even though that’s what the show intended. Something feels off to me. Does she even know who his father was? She might have been too young to remember then but it seems strange how they had a history as teenagers but she doesn’t know the circumstances behind his father’s life? I think the romance stories of both couples aren’t done very well and does not give that emotional intensity as compared to the relationships between the sisters or between the “uncle and niece”.
Well I guess it is precisely because she does have a higher maturity level due to all her added lives that she acts as though she is more knowledgeable than him. I agree that there is a disconnect in their relationship because they are not on the same page. Also there wasn’t much build up in their relationship except thru superficial dialogue and contrive situations. It doesn’t help to bring the emotional intensity of their scenes when she looks as if she is toying with him. There’s a missed opportunity of presenting the ML’s grief and trauma and how to deal with that properly that the production didn’t handle very well with the way that the two leads are written.
It’s hard to imagine a happy ending for this couple because that would undermine the world building that they are showing now with regards to the dire consequences they are supposed to be faced with.
Haven't started this yet - wanted to wait till it's finished but I'm on a really long like flight tomorrow and…
Goblin is on a different level from this. There was none of the aggressive and obsessive behavior from the FL character. The buildup of the leads’ relationship was also much better in Goblin. And there was no disparity in the experience and maturity level between the couple. Unlike this one, where it looks like a vulnerable and innocent boy is being taken advantage of by a more mature older woman. It’s very cringey.
There is an aspect of emotional trauma on the ML that is resolved poorly by shallow dialogue, contrived situations and the FL’s inappropriate behavior and facial expressions. And her quirky behavior only leads to detract the emotional themes presented by the drama.
The relationships with the sister and the “niece” give so much more emotional intensity than the main couple’s romance.
Aggressive and inappropriate behavior from episode 1 with the FL being a job applicant. She was very obsessed. He had been refusing her but she doesn’t respect his boundaries. The disparity in their maturity level is apparent and extends even to their kiss. He looked like a vulnerable and innocent kid being seduced by an older and more experienced person. He looked like a pupil being taught by his teacher. It didn’t translate well onscreen.
Anybody else ever wonder why young Ji Eum speak w/ that "country" accent but adult Ji Eum doesn't? Not to mention…
I think she speaks Satoori accent only with the “niece” when she was young Ji Eum. Though I don’t notice that she does it as an adult in the present timeline.
Seo ha’s father can’t be the culprit. It’s possible he has no control of the situation. It might have something to do with the other woman he started an affair with. Someone else is pulling the strings behind him.
Do yun should do himself a favor and just quit that crappy job. Unless he’s being blackmailed by Seo ha’s father to keep tabs on him. Or he knew from the start about the murder/accident and he’s trying to protect Seo ha.
Still find it hard to believe that Seo ha never knew who Do yun’s father was. Frankly, it makes his visit to the columbarium void of emotions.
Episode 5 and 6 is better when you watch it one sitting since you can move on past. I view the drama differently…
ML has issues to sort out within himself before even considering romance. Their interactions so far have been superficial and their conversations are shallow.
The fact that he did not even know the father of his own dear friend for what, close to 20years? And yet, show is pushing the lead couple to possible intimacy by next week? The show is selling the romance angle since the very first episode.
“Date me.” “I like you.”
The message I’m getting from the show is that it’s fine that you didn’t really know your close pal or his family history, someone whom you’ve known for half of your life because of your trauma and it’s perfectly fine to fall in love with a strange person whom you’ve known for 3 weeks because she reminds you of that girl that’s causing your trauma. Because obviously, (based on drama logic) love conquers all!
This drama is legit has audio problem and it's not just in one episode and apparently , that was not a good comment…
And also this “It’s just fantasy, why are you applying logic?!” or “It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t make sense. It’s not reality! This is just fiction!”
“This isn’t a documentary! It doesn’t matter if they got their facts wrong.”
They definitely have 2 different personalities.Ju Won had this classy high class personality with her rich upbringing.…
“Ju won was totally messing with Seo ha”
As Juwon, even as a young child, she was quite mature for her age. Her words and actions towards Seo Ha was sometimes manipulative. She tries to be “all-knowing” and superior with him. Also telling Seo Ha, a young child, that she has past lives was not really appropriate. There was no reason for her to do that. She comes across as some kind of Magician trying to lure her audience into her magic. The way drama presented some of their scenes was also creepy.
The biggest letdown of this drama is the romance. Both couples aren't clicking for me. I like the actors but there's…
The lack of chemistry and romance stems from the fact that the FL obsession with ML was not justifiable because she was shown to have stronger relationships with the young niece and little sister. Unfortunately, making the FL acting like a foolish person in the present time doesn’t help in adding to the progression of their romance. Thus, the ML’s fixation on the FL look more trauma-related than real affection. It also doesn’t help that the ML has repeated flashbacks of the young 9 yr old girl as it only cements his traumatic feelings.
Love the story. Love the FL. She's bold, direct but does not come across as cringy. But, I feel so depressed every…
“2 more weirdos” is an apt description. I liked the sister character and was so disappointed at the last episode how the drama is making her look and act like a dumb person. This drama is good at making the female characters look foolish.
I’m in the middle of ep 6 now and already took 3 breaks in between to do something else. The repeated flashbacks…
The show is not selling the romance well. From the beginning her obsession with him is not justified because she had stronger past relationships with the young niece and her little sister. The show made it look like ML doesn’t have affection for her except that it was related to his trauma. The way they keep showing scenes of young Ji Eum in ML’s imagination make him need psychiatric help for his trauma. But of course, K drama will make the process easy because “love conquers all”.
The only relationships that have an emotional pull are between the “uncle and niece” and the two sisters.
After watching episode 6, I’m not even confident anymore that they can create a satisfying resolution to all the conflicts the drama created.
gosh, this drama first half in ep 5 is painfully boring, it's narratively a scene but on execution, I can't stop…
I’m in the middle of ep 6 now and already took 3 breaks in between to do something else. The repeated flashbacks are annoying. It’s the same ones over and over with some few seconds added each time!
There are a lot of inconsistencies in this drama. But I’m staying to see how they resolve things. I assume everyone around the FL will eventually know she was Ju Won. They’re making it seem there will be consequences but the shaman guy and dancer girl don’t do anything to tell her is another mystery. Also didn’t the dancer girl herself spoke Ju Won’s name out loud when they were at the street? What will be the consequence of that?
I don't want to sound disrespectful to SHS who I like, but...The longer I watch this series, I believe Ha Yoon-kyung…
To me it’s her hair and makeup. It doesn’t match her skin tone. And I find her facial expressions strange. I’m not sure if it’s due to the way she was directed to act or her own interpretation is off. I like SHS in her previous drama but here, something about her performance is distracting. I also like HYK better and I think she’s fantastic as the younger sis.
