Good observation. There’s something that doesn’t click well in the drama. Maybe it’s the way the story is presented and the characterization of the main characters. I’ll reserve my comments about this till they show more episodes.

My observation is that this usually happens if the majority of the target audience is of the younger age group. At least I’d like to think they tend to be the most zealous ones in hyping up a drama and they tend to have more vacant time on their hands.

The dialogue between the leads is very superficial and sometimes dumb. The things the FL says to the ML makes her look like an airhead, no substance at all. Seems like she even lacks creativity whenever she says “I like you”. It’s as if she wants to hypnotize him into liking her by saying it over and over. It’s very childish, to be honest.

Her conversations with the niece is not like that at all though. So it’s just whenever she is with the ML that her actions and words make her look foolish. The production seem to be trying to sell the romance angle too hard. But instead of being heart fluttering, it’s actually pathetic.

I don’t need to follow MdL ratings to know which are the better shows. A high rating here doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a good drama. Someone below complained that people create multiple accounts to make negative comments. Conversely, it makes sense that there must also be those making multiple accounts to upvote their favorite shows with the highest rating.

You nailed it exactly! She also said something that she was glad she was born into a rich household unlike the other lives where she was poor or mistreated. Didn’t she know and learn after 18 lives that material things are not as important as strength in character? Adversity in life also gives an opportunity for personal growth and introspection.

I’m hoping too that they handle the scenes with her sister better in upcoming episodes. They also hshowed more scenes of them together. And I don’t feel the emotions they want us to feel. Apparently her sister doesn’t have the same importance as Seo Ha also. I don’t know how the sister is written in the web book but I find the sister’s same behavior of approaching a man very cringey as well.

I don’t find her actions flirty either. It’s actually very cringey. I was pointing out the general reactions to the character as defended by those who are charmed by her.

You’ve summed up what I’ve been feeling about this drama. The emotional beats isn’t working for me. I know we’re supposed to see both leads have a connection but the way it’s presented is off-putting for me.

After episodes 3 and 4, they made it worse by showing more scenes of her 17th life with her young niece, I felt even more disconnected at her obsession with Seo Ha. The poor niece was just a little girl when the uncle died and it looked like she was all alone too, had no one to protect her and had to move out because her uncle was the breadwinner in that circus group.

In contrast, Seo Ha has a close friend at least, a home to stay, an education abroad etc

She made a promise to her niece too. She had the chance to look for her in her 18th life. But no, the drama makes her rush to look for her niece only because she needed help to find Seo Ha. That really doesn’t sit well at how selfish and self centered her character behaves. It’s appalling that we’re supposed to be rooting for this character because she is the main lead and just because she needs to find her one true soulmate, we’re supposed to see everything she does as cute and flirty and not harassment.

Somebody described it as “Clown music” which is appropriate because of the eerie vibes of the FL’s aggressive and manipulative behavior. And there are people who have fear of clowns for this reason.

It’s becoming more pervasive than ever in mainstream media and it is usually done with subtleness so that some people first think: “oh it must be ok because it’s not reality, this is just a fantasy movie” and then once more people start to tolerate it, the weird and creepy behaviors are accepted as normal.

I think another way to put it is, try to think of your own kids or nieces and nephews and something like this happens to them and see if you can honestly say (with a normal mental state) that you are fine with it.

Yes. The drama points this out time and again. She is aware of her age and she acts mature for her age. Her mental capacity is that of an adult when she reach ages between 8 and 12. This is the drama’s own premise and in their dialogue. She may have felt like a child from that time she met Seo Ha. But her mental and maturity remained at adult level. Because of this, Seo Ha himself finds her weird. He said so when they were at the playground. He also said it again when he remembered her being the little girl. So imagine this weirdness being played out on a 12 yr old girl with a mature mind and an innocent 8 yr old boy. From their conversations alone we can see how weird it is.

I know. I would like to laugh it off if only the topics weren’t significant. It’s quite sad that people can have flippant attitude on things like pedophilia or stalking just because it’s on mainstream media or it’s a drama of their favorite stars.

The childish outbursts from people who claim to love this drama is astonishing.

Try to open your minds a little please. And you’ll see the world does not revolve around yourself, your ideas and your thoughts. Trust me, you’ll learn a lot more and who knows, you’ll learn to grow too.

You can choose to be mature or you can choose to stay in your own bubble if you can’t see beyond your boundary that contradicts your own. Honestly, if you can’t handle people having discussions about a DRAMA, I wonder how you’ll handle real situations in REAL LIFE.

And no, just because a drama is fantasy doesn’t mean we can ignore reality. A Sci Fi movie can have elements of pedophilia, stalking, unnatural obsession, rudeness, arrogance etc and you cannot choose to ignore that. A spade will be called a spade. You can’t brush that under a rug or hide behind a genre and say it’s nothing.

I get your point. There are red flags in this drama that some people choose to brush off. Or take it as comedy. The stalking, the obsession with the boy, her methods used to approach him are not appropriate at all. She has lived many lives, has gained life experiences and has the intellectual and emotional maturity level of an adult. She should know and should behave better.

I’m pretty sure that’s not how the drama production intended it to be though I can see why you mention of it being “like a pedo”. I think they want the FL to look wise beyond her years because she lived many lives but the actions and words she sometimes make contradict this.

Maybe it is also the genre is comedy that they insert scenes like a flamenco dance. But the overall tone doesn’t mesh well together and hence the misfires.

I see that creative license was also done to the actual meaning of reincarnation in addition to the part about remembering one’s past life. She did tell her niece in episode 1 that she is the reincarnation of her uncle so that was confusing.

It does make me wonder how she will introduce herself to her sister later. I hope she will also let her sister know who she is. And that they will have a chance to continue their relationship as I’m sure it wasn’t only Seo Ha who was devastated by her death.

There’s a lot of creepiness in the FL’s behavior that seem to be glossed over because the actress is a good performer. Personally, I’m disappointed that a character who’s supposed to be hundreds of years ahead in maturity level insults her intelligence and behaves in an insensible manner.

It’s sad that the drama writers changed this because her stalker behavior does not bode well for her character.

I don’t think she has the same soul of Ju Won… she has MEMORIES of Ju Won as she remembers all her past lives. But at present she has the soul of that Uncle of that kimchi lady.

Which is why some of us find it disturbing that a man inhabiting a woman’s body is behaving so aggressively. She comes across a little obsessive and weird in not a good way. Some people seem to celebrate her actions as take charge and boss girl type but in this situation, it just seems creepy. I know the actress is capable of performing such quirky traits and so the creepiness is kinda glossed over by her performance and drama production.

As I have mentioned in a previous comment, it would have been better if her years of maturity and intelligence as someone who lived hundreds of years were used appropriately in her approach of the ML. Instead, she comes across as lacking self control and reasoning. No one in their right mind would say things like she did and no one in their right mind would accept such comments as flattering. If she wanted him to believe her, there are other things she could have told him about herself to help him remember.

That’s unfortunate then. Because it makes the story less convincing and emotionally-distant when we don’t understand or empathize with their motivations. I mean, I can see why but the lack of connection to it makes it feel off.

I also think they could’ve made the FL consistent in being smart and wise in her ways (having lived many times over a few hundred years) and come up with a more decent approach to the ML than just randomly blurting out, “Date me” or “Marry me”! It was kinda cute when she did it as a 9year old but not so much as an adult.
