I know what you mean about "sad dramas". I think the 2 dramas are more angst-ridden than sad. It's been years since I've watched, but I don't recall the usual K drama tropes here. It's all done more realistically -- the PD's trademark style. Ahh, there are umbrella scenes, though! Haha. SiTR had workplace bullying/abuse issues, if that's a trigger for you. It did start off the romance early on unlike OSN where it was more a slow burn. So definitely needs patience and the right head space 😊 As for character arcs, hmm, I'd say the shows focused more on how the leads navigate thru their relationship and environment/ family.

That's true. Same way in Korea we also have to remember that some can still be influenced by generational beliefs that have been passed down over centuries.
Son Ye Jin was in SiTR only. One Spring Night was with Han Ji Min.
ETA I feel that I need to add a disclaimer of some sorts in recommending these type of dramas because it will not be to everyone's taste. But I see that you've seen My Mister and I think you'd be familiar with that kind of filming style and storytelling 😊

It was an issue in Something in the Rain too, iirc. The ML and his sister (besties with FL) were orphans (or was it just the mom who died, not so sure 🤔) But the FL's mom was such a thorn in the side because of it. I think in general, it's seen as "bad energy" that they think can also impact the current situation/ relationship negatively.
I'd recommend SiTR and One Spring Night ( coincidentally also stars Hae In) if you're interested in a more nuanced look into some Korean social issues. PD Ahn Pan Seok and the writer Kim Eun did a great job at showcasing this.
On MDL profile, it said this will air just once a week every Friday? I'd love for it to be 12 episodes at 1hour, but 1 episode a week would test my patience 😔
ok im confused about the ex. i thought they broke up because he cheated on her? i remember there was a scene at…
Unless the writer reveals something else entirely later, I'm assuming there will be a big confrontation with her ex in upcoming episodes about this. For me, she isn't very firm with her rejection of him partly because they were not upfront with his cheating (so he keeps pestering her) and also partly because she did care for him and loved their moments together (as she mentioned to MoEum). Some people have said that she feels indebted to him for being by her side during her illness so that could be a reason and she actually said it herself too. She can't truly hate him because of their shared history but she also said for "some relationships, it's better to end them". So she's aloof but also very civil with him. They are too calm with each other and her ex is too pushy and not contrite enough that I think there will be a big confrontation to end things for good. This is my impression based on what we've been shown so far.
Seung-hyo and the Funeral Home.I've been a bit worried about the funeral home scene for one reason - when the…
I really hope not. One of the parents would be too heartbreaking. What if we're shown Seung Hyo's fascination for memorial parks because that's gonna tie up in an epilogue maybe 50 or so years later. 🤔
Yeah, I kinda think there was no cheating. Some other reason for their breakup must be there, ...just the actor…
Ok. We'll find out soon enough. I just find it odd for him to tell her mom that he didn't cheat. If he knows that Seok Ryu knows, why would he deny it? Something doesn't add up in what he is saying and his behavior. But that's just my perspective and I could be wrong. 🤷♀️

True. Though I'm not disregarding that Seok Ryu's ex was there for her when she had no one else. I guess something had happened betwen them and when she saw him, she couldn't deal with that on top of her work issues and illness. I mean, he was possibly her only ally and what he did (if confirmed) must be devastating.

I'm seeing some viewers wanting to see SR end up with her ex and it amuses me that we must have different standards for them to prefer a cheater. I'm holding onto what SR saw by the pool until they explicitly say otherwise. Lol. At this point, I'm guessing her ex doesn't know that she saw what he did with the way he's acting entitled and overconfident that he can be back with her. I don't think she confronted him about it.
I read up on stomach cancer. I don't believe she has relapsed (that would be a Very. Bad. Thing - in fact, basically…
The way she grabbed the popcorn that Seung Hyo offered instead of listening to her ex who knew about her illness spoke VOLUMES to me. Unfortunately the ex is too dense to take a hint 🙄 😬
Hae In had already mentioned ep 11 twice so I already knew I had to wait. SR HAD cancer but not anymore and I…
I still think this is just a bump on the road. Well, a major bump. But her cancer is stage 2, which is curable. So I’m not worried about that. What I don’t like is the proposal preview. I hope that was just a flashback.
I'm still really enjoying this tbh. We knew she had some reason for staying off work for a year and were already…
Was the proposal a flashback? I hope so because I can’t handle if it isn’t. That’s just going to make me hate the FL character. Too much angst on top of everything else going on.
There has to be more context with their breakup because that just doesn't make sense. She's also treating him…
Hmm.. I don't recall her saying to Seong Hyo that her ex cheated. It's just he doesn't believe she could do such a thing when she said she did. I also don't think she pushed her ex away because there was a scene that showed she was actually reaching out to him saying something like "I need you."
I think her "nice and kind" treatment of her ex is just basic courtesy. I don't like her ex, tbh. I'm probably in the minority, but I want everyone to find out what he did and not have her take the blame for his cheating.
Agree with all you said. I wonder if it’s a misdirect, are we being misled into thinking the obvious when it…
Let's hope you're right. They're both too touchy-touchy for me, it's kinda.... improper (?) On the other hand, if they are indeed having an affair, would they risk people finding out behaving that way and in her neighborhood too. The mystery is making me so curious lol.
