Oh i think they were spot on in casting her. She has that antipathic demeanor and look that says "I can seduce…
Funny how i did the same thing just because i was curious about her age and how she would fit into the picture. I was surprised too that she's actually older. I wonder if they'll integrate her age into the story as SH's noona ex or just keep things more superficial, like her model-esque height and beauty to poke some buttons on SR.
Cursing someone with a padlock is next level of pettiness šš
All this time I thought that lock-key ritual was just for lovers. I love how the show subverted this! Had a good chuckle when SR started enumerating and SH saying "there's not enough space" š¤£š¤£
The biggest life lesson this drama is teaching us is - " important life's decisions are made when you are clear…
So true! I was a bit wary due to the writer's previous work. But it seems she's circumventing that common trope here. I love how she develops the relationship between the characters here and how she shows subtle and quiet moments between them. It makes me anticipate the build up and transition of our leads from friends to lovers.
Well, it's official. Seung-hyo's ex-girlfriend will appear at some point. (Seo Ji Hye - not a favorite). It's…
Oh i think they were spot on in casting her. She has that antipathic demeanor and look that says "I can seduce your boyfriend or in this case, my ex, in 5 minutes" š Looking forward to how her appearance will play out with our leads!
Ah it's a similar theme on the groom carrying the bride across the threshold in Western setting. It's interesting how different cultures have varied versions of traditional customs.
A lot of the comments sound like people are viewing K dramas with a Western mindset or Western-influenced thinking…
And it's not like they were just being violent and didnt show how the mom andndaughter actually care for each other. For example, how SR bought the brooch pin and cosmetics for her mom and how her mom treausred those gifts. There's an underlying care and affection beneath the gruff demeanor of parents in Asian dramas. Of course, it's a different story for those who are truly abusive.
There are some things still missing from this show that may come up later. Let's see now, shall we?
* Kimchi or Seaweed fight / kimchi slap scene Ala Samdalri
Or was this reinvented as the leek slap scene? š¤
* Soju with Samgyeopsal or (insert any other food) scene Ala 99% of K dramas
Though I'd really prefer not to see any of the leads be in any drunk scenes but knowing that this show is from the same writer as HCCC, I'm not negating the possibility
* Piggyback scene A must-have scene esp when no.2 drunk scene materializes. Frankly, I kinda find this cute as I think it's a uniquely Korean thing (?) Do correct me if I'm wrong. It happens in other non-drunk, sometimes sentimental scenes too which makes it more charming, imo
* Murder Suspect Ala Lovely Runner Maybe her ex comes after her like a psychopath?
I'm sure there are more details that I forgot to list. Most scenes will be repetitive and same goes for the plot. If you've seen at least 3 rom or com or melodrama, you should know the drill. š«”š¤Ø
I feel good that i can enjoy dramas without getting triggered from literally everything . people these days are…
I'm generally tolerant of these comments before but I've decided I may start blocking those comments that can be triggering. Some are just plain rude and trashy. While some are like a broken record player that just keeps repeating. Lol. This might be something that only my generation would understand XD I find hanging out on X/ Twitter is much more enjoyable these days.
a lot of the comments here sound like people are watching a k-drama for the first time XD

I'll have to chime in with the Mother -daughter dynamics as there are some deep-seated issues they need to deal with. I hope that room remodeling was just the first step towards a better relationship. And there would be more of it that will be unraveled later. I'll be very impressed if the storyline will tackle this at greater depth.
As for the "violence", I may have to be the contrarian here as I think the concept of an adult child being beaten by a parent was too ridiculous to be taken too seriously. In reality, a grown adult (daughter) could easily overwhelm the attacker (mother) if it was warranted. To me, it was simply presented as a comedic scene. Now, whether someone would actually find it funny or not depends on the viewer's perspective, of course.
As for the OTP, I was waiting for that hook from this drama and the playground scene reeled me in. There's something almost magical to have someone who understands you, sees through the walls that you put up and accepts you for who you are. The vulnerability and raw emotions that you can reveal without fear or embarrassment at being judged or ridiculed. These are the moments in dramas, the kind that punches you in the gut, that I would love to see more of.
Nah, totally understandable that she didn't move away. Who in their right mind would avoid a kiss from Chae Jong…
I agree. It's important to note the difference between being in denial about one's feelings vs disliking someone. For Hong Ju, her brain has not quite processed yet what her heart already knows. Hence, the mismatch in her non-verbal cues and things she says out loud to dissuade Hu Yeong. Even her subconscious dreams already knows what she truly feels š
It's also noteworthy that Hu Yeong didnt force himself on her. . Because really, they were gazing at each other far longer than usual, and not only did she not avoid him when she could on those 15 seconds, she closed her eyes too. Ha! It's all about her non verbal cues.
I think someone mentioned this was originally written years ago. Hence, there's the feel of the drama being a little dated. Personally, I don't mind tropes and cliches like this. I actually even prefer that ML is from another era, as you say. I prefer that than the aggressive, manipulative or selfish jerks like the 2ML. It was heartwarming to see Hye Ji's dad being protective of Hong Ju and giving the 2ML a good rundown of what he did wrong.
Nah, totally understandable that she didn't move away. Who in their right mind would avoid a kiss from Chae Jong Hyeop??! š š
Seriously though, Hong Ju's just in denial stage of her growing (or dormant, maybe?) feelings for Hu Yeong. Thankfully, though, after that, she took the initiative herself for a more proper second and third kiss!
Surprised to find out that Jun Ho's best friend was the assistant in Castaway Diva. Didn't recognize him at all. Must be the hair. He looks younger here. It looks like he will develop a relationship with Ms Nam with the way they are bickering now š
Thereās still mystery in the flashbacks for now. The child actor in the cast is listed as just young Prince…
Iām sensing it to be more of his ambitions given the way he was treated when the QD was forcibly taken away. Could his daughter really be his real daughter? Donāt mind me. Iām just throwing out some speculation. There is also that man she calls her brother but he tells her to be all hush about it. Wonder whatās the story of that too.
I have questions alluding to the Queen Dowager and her relationship to Lee Gon. Is she his mother ? The flashbacks…
Thereās still mystery in the flashbacks for now. The child actor in the cast is listed as just young Prince Lee Gon though and no other actor for the other Prince. I wonder if Physician Choi may have manipulated the QDās mental capacities with some kind of shamanistic ritual. Similar to what he did in the first episode with his daughter and the Crown Prince. That aspect of eastern culture seems to be integrated in this drama as can be seen in some historical sageuks.

I think if thereās one thing I realized after many years of watching dramas, is to not let the crowd hype or ratings dictate my viewing decision. As the case usually turns out that I tend to dislike the high trending shows. Or maybe I should say that a highly rated show doesnāt necessarily equate to it being good. In restrospect, I guess Iām more tolerant of shows that have flaws in script because letās face it, most of them will have those flaws, I can be more acceptable of a few tropes and cliches rather than full-on makjang. I also would tend to go more for characterizations above all else.
Btw, I appreciate your comment since My Dearest was really popular and I didnāt expect to have someone agree with me. I havenāt seen 100 days My Prince so I canāt compare with that. I have seen this writer ās previous work and all I can say is that one thing that stood out was how the main coupleās romance was developed. This writer also strikes me as someone who can spin offbeat stories and keep them intriguing enough for me to keep watching. And this show, specifically the main couple storyline, definitely intrigues me a lot.
I just don't like this show but I want to. It's so mid unfortunately.I always struggled with watching historical…
As I read from many comments before, My Dearest copied some elements from Gone with the Wind and made it into Korean setting within that era. In terms of āintense emotionsā to be honest, it was also quite tedious and repetitive with how both leads behaved. Personally, it became annoying and frustrating for me at how they kept hurting each other I couldnāt watch the last 10 episodes and barely finished the first part. Turned out to be a good decision because the drama became tropey and cliche when I read that the writer added some nonsensical twist not just once but twice near the end. The one redeeming quality would be both leads gave awesome performance so I applaud them for that. But of course, we all have different taste and preference so to each their own. And I have mentioned earlier that I am watching this mainly for the two leads. Iām hoping it will have the same characterization and progression of love story in Bossam. Iād really prefer to watch a couple who showed consistent respect and protected each other.
this is actually good! there are some flaws that sometimes its just weird but the main couple's plot and acting…
The writer is the same as Bossam Steal the Fate so I'm hoping that the relationship between the main leads will have the same heartwarming development with many touching and emotionally stirring moments! Bossam couple had a really good love story and amazing chemistry that they became very popular with Knets and so the OTP was paired in another drama soon after.
Well, I don't know if it's a comedy. For me, it's another drama, again with the theme of the dowager queen, who…
Now, I'm curious how the writer will resolve the issue that the Dowager Queen made since the grievances concern both Crown Prince and the physician's daughter.
