It's not the best or worst series. I just skip the food scenes if they go on for too long. There is action, a message about betrayal, love, etc.

Enjoyed this one. ML great, good acting and showed the right emotions at the right time. FL needs more work to hone her skills - stone-faced throughout.

ML had changed the ending to a happy ending by the book signing. I agree with you in that it had a "The Untamed" ending where you just hear him call her name at the end and no real closure for visually seeing the HE for everyone. This is typical of c-series where they often spend so much money on the earlier episodes that they end up making an abrupt ending.

She really didn't have a lot of time with the first guy so it's easy to like the magistrate's son as well.

I had to skim through episode 1 again as the eps are coming out so few and far between that I forgot the story. I should have waited until the series was completed but now I'm hooked.

I'm cracking up that, every time something dramatic happens, a different woman puts a cape around our ML's shoulders. It's like he's a kid who can't dress himself, lol.

Loving this off-the-chart chemistry between our leads. It's funny that, every time she looks him in the eyes, his tough exterior melts and he can't figure out why he has this feeling that there is a connection between them.

Agree and I think they're bringing him back for season2. I hope so anyway. He doesn't always agree with the ML but he does support him - more like equals than sidekick as you mentioned.

The comments section went from a good number of antis to a lot of new people having long dialogues here; thus, this is definitely picking up fast. Unlike Ni Chang, which was good, but didn't have as much mystery and action as this one, this series is picking up steam fast and not boring thus far. Give it a chance if you have time but, in the end, it may not be your cup of tea.

The ML previously said every honest court official that has any decency left is behind him and then behind the ML's subordinate who was directed to help the ML may be: I think he might have been directed by the crown prince to help as the ML was mentored by the former brocade officer who was murdered and the former brocade officer was the unnamed teacher of the crown prince and the Commander of the Royal Guards. Looks like he went undercover under an assumed name to figure out what was happening in the silk/brocade business but ended up being the second brocade officer to be murdered.

It's interesting that this is rated lower than Different Princess with Ireine Song, which I'm watching at the same time. This is a higher quality production. Both stories are interesting. The criticism of Tan's physical looks and constant negative feedback seems like trolling on this page.
