Not sure why you go on about Zhao Liying on repeat in so many comment sections; however, I doubt Lusi wants to be Liying, who at 37 is aging out of the young romance costume dramas that Lusi is doing in her mid 20's. Liying will start to play more mature roles shortly, the way that Yang Mi is currently doing in This Thriving Land. How much longer can you carry on this repeat thread of yours?

I always wondered if, outside of Neo's pretty-boy roles, like A Girl Like Me, Neo could truly act. He just proved it with this role. He was soulful, showed the misery and frustration of his predicament while still retaining his kindness. When he lost control, his heartless actions were brutal. I was here mostly for Zou as Fei; however, all of the actors cast in this production were stellar in their roles.

No, he could not. She was a chattel slave, bought and owned by that family. He would have been brought before the legal jurisdiction of the time had he tried to intervene and had no legal standing whatsoever. This story's theme is all about legalities and her use of them to help people. Don't let the first episode turn you off of the story.

Crap like this happens all the time. When crazy stuff happened to Zhang Zhehan, his fans continue to support him in his new endeavors. At least she wasn't cancelled.

I feel like this couple should be the new Bai Lu and Xu Kai breakout couple and appear in a full length series. They both delivered in this one.

The "Details" synopsis on MDL is getting worse in telling almost the entire story before you even watch episode 1, lol.

So glad you said that. I felt like I slogged through the first half of the first series until it got interesting in the second half. Hoping this one is more even paced.

That's how I read it as well, HE. This ML is great in all of his series. I didn't recognize the FL; however, she was talented too.
