Ep 8 reminded me that sometimes we are so engrossed in the past that we fail to look at what is being presented to us currently. There is a saying that your partner is a reflection of you, and the fact that he can see his reflection only in her eyes is telling but the mirage of his past is confusing him.
BTW I had watched a bts of Taec Yeon stopping the car, and the crew were like dude you're really strong. And he was like I didn't know my own strength or something... funny.
This is a personal opinion, please don't come at me. One thing I have noticed is that at least the female actress (FL) are not super duper thin in K-dramas (yes there are those who are skinny) albeit Koreans obsession with looks and all that jazz keeping up appearance culture. The men (ML) are also slim, tall, proportionally built, and look healthy instead thin. For me, men should look like men especially if you are the leading man. I honestly find c-drama actors esp the girls to be super thin and petite even the men are like thin, I am sure they are under a lot of pressure from their company and even crazy fans. I just feel sad but the distinction is clear.
It's amazing sometimes how these short web dramas are better than lengthy ones. This one looks good so far. Kind of like A familiar stranger meet vampire, But acting is so so except for the leads.
Ep 11, interesting plot twist. SHS looks really nice in that jet black hair and traditional attire. I was not feeling her coloured hair, maybe if it has some curls or waves. BTW I have noticed they have put Cho Won literally in attires with houndstooth pattern either tweed skirt suit and blouses, which is a vintage look for rich girls. She carries it well. Mr Ha has been a serious person from his first life haha
At episode Ep 24, SY flew in with his umbrella like Mary Poppins, then went all Neo like in The Matrix with the arrows then school teacher with the ruler hitting his student. Omg I was laughing so much. LOL
I am still going to finish this when Netflix uploads them all. But I must say I loved the costumes, I think they had used silk organza or muslin or tulle. Anyway the sheer fabrics used have a certain softness I think. Also liked that the costumes and accessories for the different tribes ( which are part of China). Anyway I think the ZY character is consistent with her age and mentality of a teenage emotional, immature girl. (which is what I gathered from the book), dunno why people kept complaining. (acting by Ren Min is good) As ZY love for Yuan, I think it is sweet. I mean he was literally with her since the day she was born, so perhaps it may not be romantic from her side but it is still love. I do feel pity for SY, dude has not gotten a break. (Acting by Xiao Chan is top notch, he can act with his eyes)
The whole revelation by Lord Jiang to LZS reminded me of Star Wars, "LZS I am your father" and him saying "Nooooooo!" but murder-suicide hmm not sure about that. But LZS looked good in black. (there I said it :P ) Zhou Ye deserved the crown but come on!!! he was a stellar character, he should have had a happy ending. That mini GJS looks a lot older than 5 years old. Not quite satisfied with the ending. Oh well, all good things must come to end.
I must say, this drama did not disappoint. I like that is is fast paced and the characters are quite consistent. SY acting as a composed Shifu while trying really hard not to be affected by ZY is really endearing to watch.
He appreciates that when he was assumed dead, there was at least someone who thought about him and sent prayers albeit it backfiring. Then when she wanted to find his primordial soul because she felt guilty over what happened to him when he was Crown Prince, really moved him. I guess it is because he had no one other than his mom who cared for his well-being. This is the only logical conclusion I could think of as to why he is drawn to her after being isolated for so long.
But no 18 -year-old is that mature and composed, a bit far fetched but 15-year-old bratty rash unruly princess has eyes for her Shifu yes believable.

But Wang Zi Qi in a supporting role, hmmm something I would not have anticipated considering he is usually the ML in dramas. Perhaps he wanted to try something different than being a rich CEO.
Xue Lu mmmm a bit of a gray character because she not all that bad. She is like the popular girl in school who wants to be the best at everything, and no one should stand in her way. But she makes it known that she what she is.

Fan Yu own paranoia caused his downfall fueled by LZS manipulation, gaslighting and toxicity. When he was with Zhou Ye, he was fine, so goes to show the company you keep will ultimately reflect upon you. In contrast to the once deemed loser spoiled brat GJS who changed for the better and kept good company around him to achieve the success and made him the man that he is today.
LZS the puppet master went all the way!! Rotten to the core, obsessed by an illusion of one man GJS. Serves the Coward spineless brainless prince turned not worthy of an Emperor right! Thank god for his lady love who still has some common sense and was able to pull some tricks of her own. If I were her, I would smack him in the head literally!!! The Zhou army cannot be annihilated, LSZ just said that to get the stupid Emperor on his knees, the more broken he is, the easier to control the Crown. I guess there is a final showdown. But goddammit why is LZS so attractive even with all that evilness. Gotta love them bad boys :) but why though hehehe

Villains and bad boys somehow become a craze, perhaps because they speak what's inside their hearts and minds like he has never held back about his feelings for Yuru. Yet his moves are calculative and cunning, there is intelligence in those things, which I suppose creates a persona.
I don't know why some Chinese fans complain so much about the way Luo Zi Shang's character was constructed in…
I think his character is intriguing because he became what he is now due to his scarred past. I am going to quote Star Wars and say "I am what you made me".
I had a similar discussion about the difference between heroes and villains, something mentioned in the comic book realm.
Heroes and villains have similar origin story with some tragic past, orphaned and wronged. But the difference is ; heroes grow up preventing others from experiencing what they did while the villains want people to pay for what they have been through. So in this, the characters are actually in line with what a hero and a villain supposed to be.
As for his obsession and love for YuRu that is because he probably relating to the moments where someone expressed some kindness towards him, so he is attached to that memory. Maybe he thinks that if had someone like her, he would not have to be evil, instead live a normal life, which GJS and Yuru had.
