Both 2ml and 2fl were repulsive in so many ways. I could hardly watch them. This series needed to be strongly script tightened to maybe 20 episodes at best.
Rarely do I rave about Cdramas. And I've seen a lot of modern ones. This is easily one of my top 10 all time favs.…

Am a fan of Lee Sang Yoon's work mostly and had tried picking this up considering he is in it..Now,Considering…
Me too! I adore Lee Sang Yoon's past work - so many dramas that he's been in, (discussion can go on forever about him) but in this series he is just sort of a place holder. Compare to his role in "20 Again", V.I.P. (difficult role), and so many other intense roles he's played, I can't believe he took this role. Yes I am disappointed. He's too good an actor to take on this role. Sorry to be so blunt about this.
I have seen the last episode on Netflix and all that criticism against Jae Eon goes out the window.
The somewhat explicit bed scenes in this series are a jump ahead of the usual "fish kisses" and love scenes interrupted by sudden phone calls or someone knocking at the door we see on K/dramas.
Bed scenes don't have to be as explicit as some American movies show but certainly not as puritanical as some K/dramas have instead.
I enjoyed the whole series: the art, the OST, the acting of both ML and FL and mostly, the reality of it all. No happy merry-go-round scenes in this series - quite a departure from usual K/dramas.
In some kdrama, female leads characters were written as passive, weak or damsel in distress. So it's kinda refreshing…
You make a very good point that the passive, weak damsel in distress is becoming boring and an overused trope. However, somehow to me, the plot doesn't fit together either.. The ML is sort of just hanging there, appearing once in a while, helping. Whereas the FL, is just a one dimensional character which becomes boring as each episode moves on to another. I guess I was anticipating more. I can't seem to synk with it. Sad.
I'm really disappointed with this drama. I had waited for this drama with anticipation.
But I found it somewhat confusing and boring at the same time. Main leads' lines seem to be not well scripted. I'm disappointed in ML Lee Sang Yoon part since normally he's given top billing in every role he's played in previous dramas. but in this drama he's seems to be only in a supporting role at best. FL's role also seems one dimensional and acts in an exaggerated way most of the time. Hope the ending makes up for this.
Well said as usual John! Love reading your reviews. Thank you!
Yes, agree but I think Parasite and Squid Games has helped broaden the Asian entertainment overall. American children are watching Squid Games. Times are a changing :-)

Yes, MDL is for English fans who like Asian dramas, never thought about that. However, Asian dramas/movies are becoming more and more popular outside of Asian countries: Squid Games, Vincenzo, Parasite, thanks to Netflix in particular. I've given up on American movies and ventured toward foreign ones - especially Asian. Thanks John!

I have a question, maybe a dumb one, with all these MDL comments about dramas, do you think the writers ever read them? Or are they shutoff from the rest of us?
YSC leaving the contract in his office and walking out was such a dumb move... What did he think would happen?…
There are a lot of potholes in this drama. But the main leads are adorable and I'm watching it until the end just because of them. I love the facial expressions on the FL - the expressions are so telling on how she feels. The rest of the actors, meh, except for the precious grandmother.
do they cause the leads a lot of misunderstanding? and when do the leads get together?
A few suggestions; On Viki, A Young Woman and a Gentleman, (many episodes but if you can ff out the screaming women, it gets better) I like You Are My Spring on Netflix. Problem is to weed them out, the ones that are not worth the time.
