i also appreciate arthur but for that raw freespirit yet gambling risktaker i would have imagined the lead from the long ballad would have been a better match? or even her last match actor in tortoise Chen Xing xu!! or even the lost you forever tan jian ci! 😭

i haven't read the novel, but i love the rich world of the story!

i also find the tension of the events to be toned down. as if the story is hanging between being theatrical or very mature and subtle and the director can't choose.

the contrast between simu's way of being extremely nuanced and subtle is the best part compared to very theatrical secondary characters... besides simu, only the left hand has left me with great curiosity so far!

he has sooooo much potential and so far his character is really well done... i anticipate that he will stay on track and his jealousy will be overshadowed by the rivalry with the left hand who is obviously planning something huge and probably evil...

'letting go of obsessions' is a very common theme in fantastical cdramas. and the lonely sovereign too is a common trope in stories...
the latest cdrama i've watched that carried a parallel with a powerful main character that needs to understand 'humans' is whispers of fate. the energy of simu reminded a lot of tang lici in that cdrama about discovering the 7 human emotions...
and even till the end of the moon( same main actor that gives ethereal and powerful looks) .

i find lbtg doesnt dive deep enough in the obsessions and is giving us a theatrical perspective. in my opinion only simu and her left hand characters show very nuanced and deep interpretations.

i think they wanted to make it very clear that ha ran actually fell in love with chan in that month of laptop swap... she could not have connected the dots otherwise? if everything was revealed at once, she would really conclude that she was deceived and not separate the moments she spoke with her ex boyfriend and chan...
but maybe she could connect the dots even if she discovered it early in their story...
as frustrating as it was to watch her refusing to listen listen and then she wants to know ... i have to admit the moment that they reunited was truly lovely !!

the way they resumed the whole 11 episodes in the first half of the finale🤣😭😭 we could have watched the first 5 episodes and the finale.... because episode 12 really did a great recap ngl!! but i would have watched all episodes still and more if the show was longer🥹 i really enjoyed the dynamic and the characters journeys together!!

it's frustrating that what really happened was just hidden in a very trivial way.... there's one reason behind that reveal i think i'll put a spoiler tag under!

why keep the arrogance? i think the balance between confidence and arrogance shows well here!

i think 12 is where i enjoyed the story itself the most! and now we get real tension i think

what i noticed is as soon as he knew she was sovereign, this 'absoluteness' about her, he knew better than to be vague. He is very aware of the power imbalance and it's very well done for his character!!
but there some kind of foolishness or recklessness, ' i did not want to give you the sense for you to feel this' when he finds her in the woods (when in reality she's at another level and excited to have had it 🤣)
i imagine he will need to raise his powers (with the sword ?)eventually or she will not be able to lean in that comfort...

episode 12😍 dilrba's really tight on her character! balancing the mortal experience and sovereign experience. She doesn't disappoint!! this is definitely romance centered but i love that now we starting to get great plot puzzle pieces !
and finally real tension for the couple!

she rarely gets to portray evil characters it must have been fun for he to portray this theatrical moment!! 🤣

another episode ending with her smiling at a life or death situation! 🤣
i think its a big moment for Chenying as he was easily filled with doubts, i don't think he will! i really hope not!! 😭
i'm not watching previews because it ruins the episodes for me 😅

coming back to this chat to ask the ones who read the novel: do you think the last arc would have been more gripping if they didn't change the couple in the novel when he discovers her 'true' identity? could it be what made the last bit feel underwhelming?

that was really nice to see! not many could carry this character with such nuance!
I love the scene with the wind in her dream.... she delivered the feeling i could almost feel that wind!! 🤣

its my favourite thing about simu and duan's dynamic. she's looking to grant a wish and he doesnt wanna be saved 🤣

this is one moment that we understand duan's mind in love but also negociation... very bold ambitious courageous wit and raw. it was the best thing he could've asked!!

what's really sad in 'betrayal' is that trusting that person again seems impossible and what was worse is when she told him he disgusts her. albeit in anger, but it really spiralled!! her reaction doesn't feel stretched because it's very easy for trauma to creep back in and to fall in old ways , like building walls again. from her POV she was way too shocked. they both literally fell sick from that.

classic kdrama🤣
