Sang Mo was poisoned by his father when he went home and was gien a severe beating. The paddles used to punish him were laced with a special poison that will make him more prone to anger and each time he gets angry, his body gets weaker and closer to death. His dad wanted a legitimate reason to skip him and pass his duke title to the younger brother.

Depends what you want in a drama. Definitely a lot of bad things happen to the male lead but I like how there's no unnecessary misunderstandings (so overused and frustrating) between the leads. They're actually a very calm and sedate couple in general which may not be your cup of tea. I like level headed characters. Also, not a lot of skinship, ie. Kissing etc.

The first time I watched it just after it finished airing and there was a comment about Sang Mo being a muscle head or something which is explained if you pay attention. Explanation posted under spolier

Just finished rewatching it since there's not a lot of current shows I'm interested in. It's an easy rewatch since there were no moments where I feel like the leads frustrate the hell out of me which you can't say about a lot of dramas.

and thank god it had a happy ending after the rollercoaster of emotions

FL is kinda stupid but very funny. Good thing it's only 26 episodes. I can watch bumbling idiot for 26 episodes but not if it's going to be 40. Thank god she's no longer acting like she got poisoned stupid in ep 12.

Just finished watching it. Here's my synopsis:

yes, I thought of Macau & Hong Kong too while I was watching. It felt very natural in the parts that they spoke Cantonese (when they're in private vs official police matter and pedestrians in the streets) vs Mandarin. An Lan spoke Cantonese with her bestie and spoke Mandarin when at work or talking to Ding Qi.

i think it's a poison that just stimulates the spiritual veins so you can grow them in the case you don't already have them. The latest 2-3 episodes seems to imply that Ming Yi can have stronger spiritual power if she survives it because her master and others have mentioned how once she's better she can dominate the inter-realm competition (like more than before).

the 4 righteous shaolin and wudang folks are fighting with the 4 people rivaling for the ultimate twin swords title who work for the power group and the river group. they want to give them their power to finish the kill since both groups are too beat up to fight properly anymore. "kill him" is referring to the other four people. As for how all 8 people ended up passing him their power, I can only guess it's another rivalry thing trying to prove that they passed on the highest power and techniques. It illustrates why people complain that it is poorly written.

i need to take another break after his brothers' stupidity and distrust have reached new heights in episode 28. To top it off they were being so fake nice I wanted to beat them up.

i don't get it either. I understand him being attached to his mom or even his dad and sis because they seem to care about him but not his brothers. His brothers are about face and responsibility even when this whole sword king farce came to be. Yiren didn't believe in him at all, there's no love and respect there. He did offered to cut off his arm to save quishui but it feels like half the reason is about appearances and responsibility so he can convince these folks to come to their aid.

yes, that one group did have more survivors. I was thinking the whole crew should have broke out then instead of waiting with little water. I mean it seems like he sent a lot of folks to stop them (and the token) from escaping and I doubt he had many folks left to keep the rest surrounded. either way, no way Liu suifeng was going to leave them alone and it was already told to his brothers that he has a grudge against their family

I just finished the same episode and it's got my blood boiling. Yiren is guilty of way bigger misjudgement. He didn't trust quishui about the evil guys at all and now he's accusing him of poor judgement?! The only reason Yiren gets away with it is because his mistake didn't result in major consequences and that's all because qiushui almost died to prove that fake dude is actually evil. He would be just as guilty of causing his family's death if qiushui hadn't survive. And if he had believe qiushui, they wouldn't have wasted time and could have saved their parents

is this a micro version of the short/mini drama "money is coming"? because the first 5 minutes is just like the first episode of money is coming. The FL even has the same last name Ning and addresses her dad the general as "old man" and the 2nd FL also has the same last name Lin even though the first name is different.
