I think not that far I believe Zanghai wanted the emperor to execute the Marquis or at least for Cao to try and assassinate him so they can kill each other, you see his surprised reaction in ep28 when the Marquis's army lit firework near the emperor palace declaring a rebel Zanghai didn't see that coming and rushed there, it was Cao's fake letter that got passed to the Marquis's army his plan to trap the Marquis in his own deadly mess so it wouldn't be linked to him or the emperor would suspect Cao and punish him he said it multiple times.

I don't think they're against her they could be working in some way to sort things out since it seems like they have the same goal but I'm worried if I explain my point it might be a spoiler

I don't think that's the case, for facts we know that he's even gonna get promoted to a higher status it's in the poster and intro so whatever he's doing now it is working he's calculated.

Ep 26/ It was sudden to confess his identity but he looks SO confident! maybe he wanted to make sure that Xiang Antu and her mother were innocent and he still needs to figure out who's the 3rd person, by mentioning her to the Marquis and judging his reaction would confirm that also informs the Marquis that he has no one by his side if he made it out he'll definitely try to do something which will incriminate him and if he didn't make it out he's sentenced to death both ways he's fked up.

ep 26 I was feeling bad for the Marquis until he talked badly about the death of ZangHai's father he's still a scumbag and had no guilt for killing an entire family, redemption arc not coming I guess🤡

I was assuming that she was her mother, according to what she was wearing when she was younger the outfit style and color matched that woman she's definitely someone with high status at least from Xiang Antu's family.

Ep24/ It was so satisfying for Zanghai to see the Marquis in the same place where his father had been, then his son spawned lmao the disappointment in his face was priceless he almost forgot that he told him to save the day.
