Maybe the lack of emotions was what he needed, because his own were all over the place. I don't feel the same about Nakan, maybe that's why I understand Tonkla. I can't tell you what the writers want you to feel or think, sadly, but I understand your frustrations! I just let my brain at the bar while I enjoy an emotional rollercoaster, so my pov is purely on the emotional level. And Luke I said earlier, everyone does dumb things when they are highlights emotional, he just did something very dumb... And we can't forget that we as viewer know way more than Tonkla, so that maybe feeds into your frustrations ;)

I don't think that he did that with the purpose of betraying his friend or cause him any harm. For him, Nakan was always nice and he seemed human. Mark on the other hand acted suspicious more than once, in his opinion. I don't want to defend him, I just say that I understand his emotions in that moment. Everyone did something dumb when they were emotionally, he just is unlucky that his world suddenly is full of vampires and the possibility to get killed by them. It gets sooo fricking exciting and thrilling, all those loose strings get knot together in an awesome way... I just can applaud Priest! They did such a long story without forgetting anything, always comming back to things 20 chapters prior... I'm flabbergasted by so much talent!
