I think his versatility is now undeniable. In the last two months, he's gone from a kind, healthy, and cheerful ML in "Love Story in the 1970s" (super green flag!) to a murderous general who slaughters the enemy on the battlefield and beheads his enemies. ^_^
Am I the only one who found episodes 18 and 19 to be subdued? Almost like fillers to lengthen the arc of the spirit realm - adding a whole series of unnecessary themes not present in the novel - with the only result of making us regret the first part of the drama...
I’m missing General Duan Xu. Not a fan of entitled pest Duan Xu. Not liking the Void arc.
I also much prefer the overall Duan Xu version, but I still find the deliberately nagging and capricious interlude in the Void arc amusing. But nothing can compare to ep.8, let's be clear... ^_^
Try When Destiny brings the demon. He is hot and powerful there
I think he gave his best in 2026 with "Love Story in the 1970s" (I really adore Duan Xu, but with his other ML role, he demonstrated impressive versatility and outdid himself!)
Is it worth a watch? Are chinese dramas as good or better than kdrama? I’m getting a bit tired of kdrama xD
The drama is very beautiful and faithful to the novel. Lately, I've been watching more and more CDramas and less and less Kdramas (and initially, I only watched Kdramas). At first, CDramas may seem very different—and they are—from Kdramas, but over time, you get used to it, and it's not a question of better or worse.
At first I couldnt take ML seriously as a general but after single handedly destroying the camp assasin style..I…
I agree about the wounds...if they're serious, shouldn't they continue to bleed? Even the cloth with the severed head was dry and clean. However, I appreciated that instead of ending the fight with a scratch on his face and at most two drops of blood—as often happens in similar dramas—he was practically covered in it, so much so that he even had blood in one eye...
Does anyone knows if the episodes so far were censored in some parts? They are not consistent in length with episodes…
Compared to the novel, the drama is proceeding faithfully (I was afraid some of the more gruesome scenes, including the severed heads, would be cut, but fortunately not...), but I too would have preferred longer episodes; they fly by too quickly...
People keep criticizing Fei yu’s acting without even understanding how Duan Xu character is written. Maybe try…
I agree. "Duan Xu seems too young to be a general."...In fact, in the novel, he's a 19-year-old general. So that's exactly how it should be. Lately, he's been demonstrating great versatility (the character of Fang Muyang/Love Story in 1970 is emblematic of this).
