I feel the need to talk about something. Gay panic, lol. I rewatched some of the cute scenes in ep 10, and there is NO gay panic. No wonder people love their chemistry. There are some scenes who look improvised but the reaction is always that they laugh or smile. The hold hands, touch each other everywhere, but they are always cool about it. They seem very close. It's way better than the chemistry between Nanon and Ohm, or to compare it with another Korean BL: it's even better than between the guys from Semantic Error. This must be one of the best chemistries in BL history.
I still do not get why Ji Woo ran away for a year. What exactly was the reason? It was never fully explained.…
He felt insecure and lonely in the relationship. Seo Joon is like a bright star, and Ji Woo got lost in his dark mind. We saw he had no social circle in Seoul, no friends, no family. It seems Seo Joon was the only person in his life, which is strange because Ji Woo was working somehwere, wasn't he? For whatever reason he wasn't able to build a life outside of this relationship. His insecurities made him go crazy. He felt like he wasn't good enough for Seo Joon who was the perfect boyfriend. Still Ji Woo felt not loved enough. He wanted to break out, and he did. He thought Seo Joon will forget about him soon. At the same time Ji Woo expected Seo Joon to find him. But when that happened he put up his walls again. Him being mean was his way of protecting himself. He thought Seo Joon was able to take it. And I must admit, he wasn't wrong. But then, when Seo Joon told him, it's over, Ji Woo came to his senses. This time he chased Seo Joon, who forgave him. And now they are living happy ever after.
Those guys should do a different series. I want to see Kim Kang Min playing a more cheeky character and being more alpha, if you know what I mean. He can pull it off. Would be a cute dynamic and interesting to watch.
people here just don’t understand the gravity of jiwoo’s actions. ghosting someone for a year? that’s fucking…
The issue is really that they took everything too far. I would buy it if he packed up his things and just left for several days or even weeks. He needed time to clear his head. Got it. But THIS ...! I also wonder why he wanted to throw away the ring. He behaved like someone who was betrayed by his loved one. You're angry, so you want trhow away the symbol of your love. At the end he couldn't, but yeah. Strange. There was so much hatred involved towards Seo Joon.
I think they should have made Ji Woo work a bit harder, being a bit less harsh, being a bit less childish. Then…
I think you're the idealistic one. In fact most people choose their partner how it fits their lifestyle, their goals in life etc. Maybe not when you're very young and exploring "love". But later on they really do. For example you're a woman and don't want children. Then you meet a guy who wants a family badly. You think, he will say "F*ck it, I love her"? That sure can happen, but I wouldn't say it is the norm. So thinking that two people are attracted to each other whithout being a good match or having similar goals life, but then they think "the heart wants what it wants" etc., that's indeed an idealistic perception of love/partnership/marriage etc.
So I saw that there might be a S3, it hasn't been confirmed yet, but it's a taught I guess, and I don't care what…
I'm waiting for Ji Woo being a man and prove himself. If we see him grow and being supportive for once, I would even think s2 was good, because it would be a part of a bigger journey.
I can't believe that I came to MDL comment section thinking people would be mature enough to understand and comprehend…
I don't think this story was "mature". The conflict was childish and blown out of proportion. They reduced Ji Woo's complex character we saw in s1 to an insecure gloomy guy who is trapped in his own dark mind. Seeing Ji Woo cry like a baby even emphasized his mental state which seems to be very immature. No character growth, no real redemption, just more of the same with them deciding to talk more. All that drama for what? Like even Ji Woo said at the ending after Seo Joon asked him why they broke up. "Who cares? I don't remember." That really tells me that the writers themselves weren't taking those issues seriously. I think that was their miscalculation. That they thought at the end, when they give the viewers a happy end, everything will be forgiven.
I know each of us has different povs and perspectives but I really don't understand the people who are complaining…
And only a person with no empathy will think what he did to Seo Joon was no big issue because he was hurt and suffering so it's forgiven and understandable. It goes both ways. This is a moral question. I think he went too far.
I think they should have made Ji Woo work a bit harder, being a bit less harsh, being a bit less childish. Then…
I was glued to the screen the whole time watching the series, but now since it's over, I surprisingly don't want to watch it again. I feel really bad for Seo Joon. I feel if a relationship is so much effort, it's better to be alone. But obviously Seo Joon is willing to put in the work. People complained about him being too pathetic when he went after Ji Woo. I still thought he is proud and strong, he just always tries to do his best. He even said something like that: Since he did his best, he has no regrets. But then taking back Ji Woo, who has nothing better to do than cry like a baby and demand even more from Seo Joon ...! Don't want to be too harsh: but now Seo Joon really seems like a pathetic character. The author managed to not only destroy Ji Woo's character, but also Seo Joon's. It's funny how many people think this is romantic, realistic and whatever. The more time passes, and the more I think about this series, the more depressed I get. The message is not a positive one.
In my opinion this will be more realistic if they didn’t end up together in the end. I think a person like Seo…
I think they should have made Ji Woo work a bit harder, being a bit less harsh, being a bit less childish. Then this could have worked. The core ideas/problems in their relationship are indeed relatable. But the ghosting/vanishing for a year. buring that ring in the woods, behaving like a d*ck and pushing away Seo Joon while at the same time hoping for him to come back etc. was just too much, too strange and too childish. Ji Woo crying like a baby was even emphazing that he is emotionally not mature. Watching the series I never felt too bad for Seo Joon, because I knew he is strong and has a big heart. He can take a lot. Apparantly even Ji Woo knew that. But looking back I know feel bad, because I wonder if there is really no better partner for him out there. It may sound strange: but it's depressing if Ji Woo is the best he can get.
Your comment made me laugh XDAbout the last paragraph: I guess they wanted to show us that JW was worried for…
I just meant that the most important thing for me are the characters: how they are written, how good is the acting, how good is the chemistry, how charming are the actors, and last but not least: how much I like them. I can even forgive a terrible plot if the characters make up for it.
Blueming was a beautiful experience, very emotional, great atmosphere. At least that's how I remember it. It was more a coming-of-age series than a BL which I also liked. But I couldn't warm up to those characters, especially the second lead. The rest of the cast was not appealing either. The first male lead had to carry the whole series, but I felt his acting was not great enough to do so. But that's just me, I guess.
Tell me what you don't like about Bad Buddy. I'm curious. I have mixed feelings about it too.

Lol, I know everyone is gushing over it. I thought the acting was mediocre and they forgot to give the second male lead a personality. I'm picky about those things.

I think the talent of the diretor is to fool the audience in thinking this is "deep". She was also succesful in doing so with her series Blueming which I didn't like at all. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like this either if not for the actors that have amazing chemistry, and especially Seo Joon has so much charisma.
I mean in a certain way it is deep ... it's hard to explain. How the story was told isn't bad, it's just that the story itself and especially Ji Woo's character and his reason for leaving is not convincing. I feel if you make some minor changes to the story this really could have been a masterpiece.
I don't get why the director has such a good reputation. Where Your Eyes Linger was great for the first "Korean BL", but it was full of plotholes. Back then everyone was forgiving because the episodes were so short. In fact it was a movie like TMS season 1. Blueming was even worse. Half of the time I didn't understand what the series tried to do and what kind of story they wanted to tell. TMS season 2 is similar.
I see she has a certain "style" to make everthing crytpic and make it look smarter than it actually is. In TMS 2 she just put it to a new level. I think people get fooled because her style is pretty artistic and overall appealing.

I had a bad night. Woke up at 5 am and watched it. So at the beginning I thought I felt asleep for a split second, because nothing made sense, haha. But nope.
ONE OF THE WORST BLs IN HISTORYAfter 18 months or so, and seven episodes of deeply depressing and hurtful behavior,…
Your comment made me laugh XD About the last paragraph: I guess they wanted to show us that JW was worried for SJ. Apparantly everyone was searching for him. The editing was choppy. He run up that mountain. He didn't pass out, it was just that he was so exhausted and relieved. I live in the mountains myself. Would find a camper easily. Just saying.
I agree with you on the rest. That girlfriend and her sobbing took me off guard. Where came that from? It seemed like the girl was supposed to be the third main character when nobody really cared for her. At least I didn't.
And Ji Woo being depressed: When you suffer from severe depression you cannot function like he did. Despite him being gloomy, he was fine. He went up to work every day, fullfilled all his duties etc. No sign of depression. He just looked sad.
Didn't expect those kisses. I thought the chemistry completely died along the angsty ride. I felt the writer is…
I like how they don't tease us anymore. When SJ run home to attack JW on the couch, and kissed his check again and again, I thought that's all we get. No kiss on the mouth! I was wrong XD
