Actor wise, I am quite a Junho's fan now . I have been thrusted into his FD while following post TRS reviews on twitter. Never expected that his idol side can be as fun as his acting side. Listening to 'Insomnia' these days. He is an actor with 'singer' properties on the screen (Remember his Historical Dictation in TRS) and on the stage ,he is a singer with 'actor' properties (He is always expressive while performing on stage). Quite an interesting man as an artist.

Because Deok Im was not from a noble family. As heirs,young crown princes of Joseon had to take spouses from noble families since 8,9 yrs of age.
Though not mentioned in the drama, Yisan had already had a legal wife. Also, Yisan's great grandpa ,King Sukjong (who was the father of Yisan's grandpa) forbade concubines from becoming Queens since his reign.
With a legal wife besides Yisan & without a noble family background, how could Deokim become a wife ?
The Queen was mentioned in later episodes (the plot with Hong Deokro) ,but she never appeared in the drama. This is why viewers are confused unless they are familiar with history.
Whoever wrote the script for Episode 17 and thought it was a good idea, we need to have a serious conversation.
It was based on History . Even if we are left at episode 16, it would still be incomplete. The ending of ep 17 when he put down the heavy weight of the crown & chose death to be united with the woman he loved in the afterlife is so beautiful (In my opinion).

The drama is more like the story of two individuals whose lives were mingled due to fate. (Both were Historical figures who live through 18th century Joseon).
Yisan was the second person in Joseon with the modifier 'The Great' .
If you want to watch as a drama and it is because of Romance, better watch the drama till 16. If you can embrace tragedy & how these two people made life choices ,you can watch it through the end +++read History.

I was never made for a FD. This is why I have never been in one in spite of my long years as a drama viewer. But Junho's efforts as an artist and his resilience made me want to support him.
Because the story is based on actual historical figure,King Jeonjo and his romance with his consort, Lady Uibin Seong. Jeongjo was a beloved king in Korean history ,only second to King Sejong the Great.
But even as a King, his own life was not so great.(A great leader with so much misfortune.) ❤️🩹 His father had a misfortune and later a misfortune happened to his beloved & their children.
The highlight of TRS was not in the drama, but the love letters Jeongjo had written after , in the history. 💔
Like some said, I also wish she is a female lead ,not because Hye Joon is bad, but because Kang Hana seems more age appropriate as a romantic interest. Also they played siblings in JBL. I have to avoid rewatching 'Just Between Lovers' just for 'Cashero'.LOL
