❤'The Red Sleeve' is my first 'Lee Junho' drama. Instead, what I knew was👑 King Jeongjo's story ( aka YiSan's story ) by 2007 'Yi San Wind of the Palace' before this drama.
👤Yoo Ah In's performance in the movie 'The Throne' was Terrific that year. After 'The Throne' 🎞️, I kinda wanted to watch another version of YiSan ,the continuation of young YiSan in 'The Throne' who seemed to carry the heavy burden of The whole Royal Family as a replacement of his seemingly mad father.
Then❤ 'The Red Sleeve' came. It was the story of 👩❤️👨 YiSan and his lady love 'Lady Uibin Seong'. I knew a bit about them after 2007 Yi San version. But I wanted to knew about them more. So I studied 📖about them before the drama.
👑King Jeongjo was like the only king who was vocal about his love💗 in the whole reign of Joseon Kingdom. It might not seem much to today's generation, but because of his love, 💬Lady Uibin Seong's name 'Seong Deokim' was left in history books in spite of her coming from a humble background. Since Joseon Harem always gave an adjective to the King's ladies after reaching 'Bin' ( Highest concubine level after Queen)🌸 , the adjective of 'Ui' was personally chosen by the King Jeongjo.
He wrote how much he loved her and her parting left him💔 devastated. He built a park in remembrance of her & her son.
King Jeongjo's love was as clear as sky, but had Lady Uibin ever loved the King? She was famous as the lady who dared to reject the King for many times in spite of her status.
🤔So the slogan for the drama 'The King loves the Court Lady but does the Court Lady love The King?' You need to find the answer by yourself in the drama. Because everyone seemed to reach a different conclusion by the end of the drama.
I agree with someone who said that the drama seemed like a love story in first sight, but it was a drama about choices. The drama may be a fiction based on the history ,but it is based on a real king, the ending needs to reconnect with him in the end and what his choices led him to.
🤭Me falling in love with LJH is another story. I didn't know him either as an actor or idol before this drama. I faintly heard the praises about an actor in 'Chief Kim' & 'Just Between Lovers'. But I didn't know it was him. So at first, I was disappointed by an idol casting in this drama.
🥰Then,well he proved me wrong. After this drama, I am sure nobody could replace JH in this version of Yisan.
😊I know Junho is more famous for 'King The Land' right now. But in my opinion. 'The Red Sleeve' is the kind of drama which makes him an actor and a household name in Korea & 'King The Land' is the one which makes him an international celebrity.
🌳Also what is unique about 'The Red Sleeve' is that it has a domestic favor ( Meaning local popularity > international one ) . Because you need to understand all the relationships of Royal Family & Jeongjo's relationships and his importance in history, to understand the beauty of this drama.
🌷JH played Jeongjo very well. From a prince with a traumatic tie to his family, to a beloved King of his people. Also playing a red flag in relationship, but balanced enough not to damage the reputation of King Jeongjo,the Great.
👩❤️👨It was not only Jeongjo's love story with DI , it is also about 👥 relationships between YiSan & CP Sado, 👥YiSan and King Yeongjo (his grandpa), 👩🍼the relationship between YiSan & his mother (Lady Hyegyeong) ,🗣️the intense political relationship between Queue Dowager Jeongsun and the King, 👬Friendship between Hong Deokro ( Hong Guk Ryong) and the King. All of these are played well by Junho.
New drama fans don't recognize Junho as a Kpop Idol. I don't blame them.Some of them might be a neonate when he debuted with 2PM. Even I didn't know though I was a 2nd Gen multi stan. Because when Dream High aired and I checked 2PM, all I could see were Nikhun & Taec (Vicenzo) at that time. As a non visual member, JH was nowhere to be found unless you followed 2PM & became familiar with all members. Yes. He is still active in the group whenever there is group activity ( Recently 15 anni concerts) though 2nd gen groups are not as active as they used to be. Also if you are a hardcore fan, you will notice he always hold concerts as an idol after his dramas ,so you can safely say he still has a musician's passion though he is an award winning actor in the acting industry after TRS.

It is 'Scarlet Heart' and 'Goodbye My Princess' kind of story. First two or three episodes, both Deok Im and San are quiet free spirited in their teenage years , so their encounter are quite silly , but from episode 4, the drama becomes quite serious. The drama features changes and evolvement of the characters throughout the years .
Do you think she will accept the role of GF in 'Cashhero'? It will be strange to see her as Jun Ho's GF though. (Because they are bickering siblings in 'Just Between Lovers'). I know ,I know it is only on screen and they are not real siblings. But for drama fans like me who have long deep memory of their beloved drama, it will be strange.

Recommend 'Sado ' The Throne. It is an award winning movie and serves as a prefect prequel to the series. A better understanding of family dynamic between Yeongjo ,Sado and Jeongjo makes the experience 100x better.
