I think it's time I start setting up a bingo board for Cdramas like I did for Kdramas a decade ago.
Tragic death of FL's mother after father's stupidity in trusting/falling for another woman✔️ Evil step-mother of FL ✔️ FL and ML growing up outside of their main households to be raised by extended family ✔️ Business savvy FL ✔️✔️ ML has two loyal sidekicks that bicker ✔️ ML has secret/elite military/army loyal to him and his cause ✔️ Sage and wise male bestie &/or cousin of FL with no romantic interest in her and bonus healing skills✔️ I had a dream/stop rewind turn back time plot point✔️✔️
I could go on. All this to say...although we have seen almost everything in this show before in other dramas, this one is actively holding my attention and the WAY they are writing and showing the audience the same plot points is well done.
Someone's got to have a dead parent...it's like the animated Disney rule but for period Cdramas.
Evil stepmother is a must...again see above.
Got to have a reason for their "not like the rest of their family" vibes when coming from noble families. Cause ya know, eat the rich and all that.
The girl bossing isn't annoying or pandering. It shows that she is wise beyond her years and patient to achieve her ultimate goals...freedom from her duty as a legitimate daughter of a noble family.
Those sidekicks come in pairs for a reason....I've found that if the ML has one main loyal sidekick ML is going to bite it by the end of the show. If there are two loyal sidekicks there is almost a 100% chance that the ML will survive until the epilogue of the show. But there is a 70% chance that one or more of them isn't going to make it.
ML has to be able to protect his woman while serving fierce looks. Also have to be able to secretly stalk her by using his troops, but make it cute not creepy.
Ya have to have a counter point to the men vying for FL's love and attention who treats her like a whole human and not just a pawn or object to obtain.
And if they aren't turning back time they are getting revenge by hiding their true identity.
If anyone has anymore repetitive plot devices that have been done in this and other shows please share below. I'm not marking this one as spoiler as the majority of this information is in the description of the show &/or in the press photos to promote the show itself. If your added plot point isn't mentioned in the shows synopsis please tag it as spoiler.
please stop saying the site name in the comments. Did we learn nothing?
Sites like Dramacool have been completely deleted/taken down off the internet. The site you mentioned is still active and one of the last good sites for foreign fans of Asian dramas and movies to get subtitled content in a timely manner. Mentioning the sites name in public comments is putting a target on the site and making it more likely to be deleted or taken down.
The sister is 15/16 marriageable age. FL is 23/24...way past her "prime" in the marriage mart. Thanks to her grandmother's protection she was able to delay marriage into her early twenties. Short of mourning, most women from noble families marry in their teens.
I am begging you(everyone) to stop mentioning the sites we use to watch these shows that are not official sites in the comment sections of dramas.
DM the person asking for sites. If you are mentioning the site name for any other reason use * # and other symbols to hide the name. Dramacool no longer exists because people couldn't stop yapping. Decades worth of shows are now pretty much lost to time because people were reckless and didn't properly gatekeep the secrets of the drama watching community.
I have seen many sites fall over the 15 years I've watched k/c/jdramas. Some shows are not archived nor do they have physical versions that can be reuploaded. Keep their names out of your comments and take it to the private messages. Please and thank you.
how's the first few episodes is it interesting I wanna try this but first I wanna know if it's worth to watch✌🏻
binged the first seven episodes last night. Would have watched more if they were available tbh. if you have seen time back time/redo dramas before, so far this one is on the same level as Story of Kunning Palace imo.
This is giving SoKP levels atm. & I mean that in the best way possible. there have been many turn back time dramas lately & this one did such a good job at the reset so far. I should have waited a bit longer to jump in cause now I'm on the edge waiting for each episode. The tension between the two leads is so well done too. Really looking forward to how this one plays out.
he's in episode 6 of 'Blossom' right? I'm not losing my mind? I've been scrolling through my watched list to find him because I couldn't remember which shows I had seen him in...I was like younger cousin &/or dopey junior character. Finally remembered. Hopefully someone with receipts can add him to the cast list for Blossom.
I'm assuming the schedule change is due to MBC and not Netflix. Really hope it has nothing to do with the plot involving politics/the blue house/president and what happened this week....i'm going to hope it is some sort of sporting event that they are airing around until told otherwise. Guess that means I can go to sleep now...damn I was really looking forward to watching this before work today...oh well.
Think of it like a mini series and not a full blow show/drama. Think BBC/PBS book adaptations.
The site I DMed you normally has things out within the hour of release for all areas(not Japan....that countries content is a waiting game for me, I refuse to get a livejournal and jump through hoops to get access to subtitles outside of my usually subber. My Jdrama plug only subs certain works.) . If the show already has English subs from it's platform normally takes about 5 minutes or less for the episodes to be up. Girly, when I tell you to gate keep...gate keep. These kiddos in the comment sections of instagram and tiktok playing with the world's emotions.
I was coming to the comments to see what everyone's first impressions were only to see the countdown to the first episode saying it still had 4ish minutes to air....I thought this started yesterday. My bad.

Most of them I already have a subscription to. Like Netflix, VIKI, Prime, Hulu, Disney+ and I have a VPN so if it's not in my country I float around until I find one that has the license. (I have a lot of people in my household and we all pay for different streaming services and share accounts as we are all under the same roof.) Try some redit threads and see if anyone has dropped a link. I'll shoot you a DM with a site that is my go to for currently airing Chinese shows. It also has other countries as well, but please to not share the name on public posts or forums.
Kim Hee Won being the director is lovely. For those who haven't clicked away in the cast/crew list of this show, he is an actor and was the P.E. coach in 'Moving' that recruited/protected the powered children. I've only ever seen his acting and this is his first directing credit so I'm really interested to see how he does. I find a lot of the best performances are directed by people who are also actors. They are able to convey/communicate what they want from their actors better than someone who's never worked on the other side of the camera. As they are more likely to have a shorthand that a fellow actor can pick up on faster. Just my opinion.
Do we know if this will be on American Disney+ or if it's just going to be on American Hulu? I'm asking because the way the two platforms edit an episode are different and I have to use my VPN and pray Disney lets me through. Hulu uses hard cuts to black while Disney+ uses the normal transition of one scene to the other without a pause. (normally used for ad breaks, but even if you are a premium ad free Hulu member they still have the weird cuts to black, make it make sense.)
The irony of getting a VPN to watch content from other countries on Netflix, Disney, Hulu, etc. only for them to block VPNs. That's so messed up.
I WILL convince my mother to watch this while it's airing if it's the last thing I do. Because I want to yap about it IRL and I don't want to spoil this one for her. Mama...get with the program I've taught you how to keep track of which platform you're watching on and how to log episodes watched...lets mf goooooo.
