Also anyone know what political drama/issue is being covered up? Cause without fail, anytime some politician does something they shouldn't an idol/actors dating life gets blasted by dispatch. Also, SM really needs to work harder when it comes to protecting their employees privates lives. I swear if I went back through every idol "scandal" in the last 15 years more than half would be connected to SM.
MDL is a gateway for international fans from all over the world. (I’m from India, and I don’t have time to…
Ever since IMDB got rid of the message board features it hasn't been the same for the fan/audience side of things. As IMDB is an actual professional networking site, having the comment sections wasn't the vibe they were going for. IMBDpro is like the digital CV for people in the industry to use. This sight I believe is solely for fan interaction and discussion. Rotten Tomatoes has always been a bit of a shit show imo. As professional reviewers aren't necessarily seeing something because they are interested in seeing it. They are doing a job(getting paid) and half the time have zero interest in what they are critiquing.
I think a lot of people are comparing this to the OG live action characterization of the FL & ML a bit too much. In this version we see very early on why she has a distrust in the ML. I have a vague memory of the ML in the OG saying something out of line without the full context, but I can't remember the exact scene/phrasing nor when it was shown to the audience. I just know that they have cut A LOT of characters/story. The OG is roughly 1040mins long aka 17.3 hours this one will end up being 588mins aka 9.8 hours long. 7 and a half hours of storyline/plot got cut. They are condensing and speeding up a lot of emotional growth the FL has throughout the show. I think it's making some aspects more blunt/brutal just to move the plot forward, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The biggest difference that I got right from the get, was that in "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" she and everyone around her KNOWS that she looks like she's had work done. The 2FL pretends to not realize that FL has had work done, to make others take MORE notice of their difference in natural vs made beauty. The FL LOOKS like she got work done in Gangnam(lots of plastic surgery clinics are in Gangnam), hence the name 'My ID is Gangnam Beauty'. With 'Beauty Newbie' they cast an actress that is an actual natural beauty, unless she got work done as a teenager she's always looked like this. She just so happens to be the FL of the only Thai movie I've ever seen. Tbh the 2FL of this version looks like she's more "fake" than anyone else. The make-up/costume styling they have her in is giving fake vibes imo. In the OG version the 2FL wore the no make-up make-up look to play up her "natural" beauty. They put her in soft understated clothes. In BN she's in bright florals and always dressed like a beauty influencer instead of the "girl-next door" look of the OG character. A LOT has changed in the few years that the shows have aired so having the social media influencer side of things makes sense for this version. I'm just starting to think of this one as loosely based on the source material, like how 'Kiss Me' adapted 'It Started With a Kiss' in a very different way than any other 'Playful Kiss' version did. 'Kiss Me' happens to be my favorite version of that IP so I'm looking forward to how they change things in this show as well.
Story is moving little faster than in kdrama. I hope she realises about Guy in 4th ep. I remember FL in kdrama…
They've changed a lot of things from what i can remember from the Korean one. It's been a few years since I watched it. I do remember he father being in the dark about her having surgery before college because he was so against her changing her face. So I guess we well be seeing lots of little tweaks here and there. With the context given in this version I think her anger makes sense. We aren't getting a lot of the internal monologue that was present in the Korean one. She was constantly trying to figure out what people meant when they talk to her or look at her. In this one it's there but they've cut a bunch of characters and scenes so they need the anger/distrust to push the story along quicker.
I guess all the streaming services don't have the rights to "New Face" cause what in the heck is the music playing…
They even cut parts of scenes that had other music entirely...like SooAh singing right before MiRae dances to "New Face"...I feel like I'm going to have to pirate every show now if the major networks edit the shows so much years later. They are literally skipping a scene in which the ML gets pushed up on stage to "help" SooAh cause she can't sing well....
I guess all the streaming services don't have the rights to "New Face" cause what in the heck is the music playing in episode 1? There is a whole joke/context missing because you can't hear the song playing.
I just want to punt Faye across a room into a concrete wall...I hate hate hate people like her. A user and manipulator who will tease and pretend that everything is okay because they are smiling at you.🤢🤮 If you can't tell, I've actually known people like her in real life. The heavy "pick-me" era of the early aughts was a wild time for a teenager.
Just curious, has PP Krit quit acting? I don't see him in any dramas after ITSAY and IPYTM. What is going on with…
Just looking at his page, it looks like he left his company....so my guess is just a transition period. I don't know if Thailand has the same issues with blacklisting when artists leave certain companies though.
the thai adaptation of BOF is really good, you should watch it next
I tend to avoid toxic romance lines these days. Unless they changed how the ML treats the FL in the story I'm not sure it will be my cuppa. I've seen Hana Yori Dango, BoF, and the OG Meteor Garden 14ish years ago...I tried to get into the newer Meteor Garden & realized it wasn't really my vibe anymore. I know that the cast in the Thai version are all doing really well right now(rabbit hole after looking more into the cast of Beauty Newbie), so I might watch the first few episodes to see how I feel about their version. Cause I've noticed that even if they are following the same source material the different countries tweak things here and there. I liked the Thai version of It Started With a Kiss/Playful Kiss much more than the others because they changed a few things here and there to make the story more palatable imo. Thank you for the recommendation!🥰
All I've got to say to the younger actor trainees and those that are still teenagers and thinking about a career in entertainment...get your military service out of the way as quickly as possible. Actors tend to hit their peak popularity in their mid to late twenties. This is when most of them are bookable for both high school/college age roles as well as adult roles. Sometimes it does work out for those who become popular and then enlist, as people are looking forward to their discharge and what their first role back will be. But if the young actor can afford to do their military service early....do it. Also the child actors who take their military service either right before college or after are able to make that transition from kid to adult roles more easily. I know that there are a lot of horror stories from the military, but I will say that there are a lot of entertainers that come out looking like they got an entire glow-up. (I think this is just cause they are eating well and exercising more) A lot of people have been spreading more awareness what happens while enlisted thanks to social media and producers highlighting important stories. I hope that there can be more positive change in the future for future generations of boys and men that server their country for their mandatory military service as well as the female volunteers serving their country. I hope that they can all server well and come back better.
(I'm from the US and I know for a fact that our military uses weird(read as predatory) as hell tactics to get people to enlist with promises of paying for education etc. We are lacking in mental and physical health services for military personnel who need it after they are no longer active duty. As well as safe environments for female soldiers...period. All I can do is vote for policies that help them and have them in my thoughts. Cause our government chooses who and when they fight...yeah...lets just say being informed about all the effed up things America has had it's paws in...doesn't exactly make me want to wave my country's flag all proud like.)
I hope I remember to regularly check the calendar for this one's air date. I feel like it should be releasing soon as they've both just come off well received projects. Fingers crossed for end of February/early March.
A few killed projects and some poorly received ones might have stalled out his on screen roles. He's currently acting as a music/performing mentor with Jerry, Jackson, and Ten. The multilingual chaotic combo I didn't know I needed. Covid years messed with a lot of people's careers in weird ways I've noticed. Depending on the project they were working on before lockdown kind of determined the next few years. Also personal life wise, I'm not sure unless he shares it on social, but he's really active in his family life so he might have honestly just been focusing on that after being in the US/overseas for a few years.
I think this will be the first Thai drama I've watched in like 10ish years. I didn't even realize it had been that long. So far so good. It's nice to be able to actually see the show....480p was all that was available the last time I attempted to watch a Thai drama. Yes, I fully realize I am late to the Thai drama party. My algorithm wasn't algorithm-ing until recently apparently.
If anyone wants a good laugh and recap of the show....Stephanie Soo(Miss Mango Butt) is doing a multi-video re-telling/breakdown of the whole drama. The way she tells stories is just so entertaining to me, that even though I've watched the drama I still enjoyed her describing everything that happened to her husband/audience. Her enthusiasm for the show really makes it that much better. So if you are on the fence about the show or you maybe dropped it for one reason or another but still want to know what happened...highly recommend Stephanie's videos on Marry My Husband.
I'm hoping that you are leaving this comment BEFORE finishing the scene and not AFTER, because it is very much explained in the episode why she does this.
